    Too much tutorial to be called a review. Was clear that you had a biased opinion about Pro Tools from the get go. I dont recommed this video to viewers looking to purchase.

    The new version of Pro Tools now has a feature that can bounce your project directly to the trash. Saves so much time in the long run!

    Question that I hope you can help with? Why are some of your track outlined in green? like your master fader name box of that track. can you turn that off in protools 12?

    • @IJLAudio
      @IJLAudio  Před 4 lety

      Hey! I believe these outlines indicate tracks that are called to attention under Pro Tools EuControl for external controllers. If you are seeing these outlines and you don’t use any controllers, you may have “Eucon” enabled. I think it is under Peripherals in the menu bar. Write again if you can’t find it, I can send more details when I’m at Pro Tools myself!

    • @2inspirestarsproduction8
      @2inspirestarsproduction8 Před 4 lety

      @@IJLAudio Hey yes I am using a external mixer which also controls the daw. Can I take the outlines off with out it effecting the mixers controls?

    • @2inspirestarsproduction8
      @2inspirestarsproduction8 Před 4 lety +1

      @@IJLAudio Ill take any information you have on this topic so I know what I can disable with using the digital mixer. Thank a lot for responding.

    • @IJLAudio
      @IJLAudio  Před 4 lety

      @2InspireStars Production I don’t think you can remove these as they indicate which tracks are currently under control. To my knowledge, there is (unfortunately) no option to hide this or remove them. However, I know that under peripherals and “Ethernet controllers”, you can select a colour for the active controller. Again, I’m not with my machine as I write, but I had the idea you could at least change it to something more neutral like black or grey. Hope this helps! 🤓

    Great video thanx, Is this better then the fairlight in Davinci?

    • @IJLAudio
      @IJLAudio  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi @A M , it's hard to say which would be better for your workflow without knowing more. I would imagine that if you already use Davinci to edit video, it would be most efficient to use the fairlight engine. As for comparisons between their conversion you could perhaps look this up. Although I presume you are not enquiring about composition or music; Pro Tools and other DAWs would be best for this, but as mentioned above, the firelight engine should be more than enough for you to edit audio to video with ease! Hope this helps 🤓

    • @arsh0603
      @arsh0603 Před 5 lety +1

      Thank you for your reply, Im using Davinci software and was looking for the free version of pro Tools, but someone told med that fairlight is also great vocal recording etc.
      Thank you.

    • @IJLAudio
      @IJLAudio  Před 5 lety

      If it is just for music production you wish to use Fairlight, I would actually recommend another DAW. Although I admittedly know nothing about Resolve, I would imagine you will have an easier time in DAWs such as FL Studio, Ableton Live, Peo Tools or Logic Pro/Garageband if you own an Apple machine.

    Can someone tell me if Pro tools 2018 still skips when you adjust a loop while playing? I don't want to upgrade untill that has been solved.

    • @IJLAudio
      @IJLAudio  Před 6 lety

      Hi +Mr.Shade,
      I have looked through both the 2018.3 release notes and the "Read Me" documents and the looping problem you refer to does not seem to be mentioned.
      Could you provide a little more detail on what happens to cause the issue and we might be able to hone in on what needs to be fixed!
      If you are not already part of the Avid Customer Association you can sign in with Avid Master Account and submit the request to relevant personnel; if it is an issue many people are raising they will get to it faster.
      Get in touch and let's try share a solution/make Avid aware of your problem! (You would be surprised how responsive they can be now that the subscription model is in play!)
      I will test the issue later on my Pro Tools system to see what I can learn about it. Any links/forums you have already looked at/posted to would be of great help.

    • @OfficialMrShade
      @OfficialMrShade Před 6 lety

      Hi Iwan, nice that you get back to me. In the last 10+ years I have never seen a Pro Tools system be able to do this without skipping. Mine and of others. Just select a few bars you want to loop/cycle over and over again. Let's say bar 1 to 5. While playing you decide that you want that selection to be bigger or smaller. Pro Tools will skip. In any other sequencer it will play without any hiccups. The same happens when you remove or add a plugin while playing. Pro Tools will skip. It never gets mentioned therefore it will never be solved because I think it's maybe at the bottom of the list. Personally it annoys me a lot. I am more a DJ/Producer than a mixer and this skipping takes me out the moment which makes me lose inspiration. I wish Avid would fix this. I posted about this here:
      protools.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Prevent-Pro-Tools-from-pausing-skipping/222608-3779#idea-tab-comments

    • @IJLAudio
      @IJLAudio  Před 6 lety

      Hi +Mr.Shade I'm just writing a quick one to let you know I've JUST seen your comment; now I have some software bugs with CZcams!! No notifications even though I have the CZcams creator app set up!
      I will do some nerding out in the next 24 hours. My first instinct is that unfortunately, I think Avid may (as you pointed out) prioritise other parts of the audio processing workflow. However, I would assert that this is a very new time for Avid and they would be hypocritical not to address these kinds of things (one need only check out their own CZcams channel to see how much they want to push ProTools as the industry standard MUSIC production app). So don't worry too much, you might be surprised what a few months of this spreading might do! I will certainly add my voice to yours (I might also prepare a post for the Avid Customer Association). I would imagine that unfortunately, the plugin skipping might remain for some time as I believe this involves many processes including delay compensation calculations. Certainly though, now that I am following you more, skipping while looping should not be a problem!
      One or two quick ideas I have after checking it out (briefly);
      Do you change the timeline follows edit selection/playback options? Some of these may hold a key to what might just be an awkward setting!
      When choosing your loop, are you highlighting the timeline (top of screen), or the clips themselves? (not that either is right/wrong! But we may be able to carve out a solution)
      Just ideas to get us solving this, I don't want to insult your intelligence but we can never know how much each other knows! Also, if we can worm out some details on this and add it to everywhere the issue is posted, everything should move faster.
      Be in touch soon!
      Sincere apologies for my late reply, as I said, I'll be ranting at Google/CZcams in the app store comments! 😉

      @OfficialMrShade Před 6 lety

      Don't worry. Thanks for getting back. However the problem is how the software is written and Avid not changing it. It becomes appearent when I use the DDMF metaplugin within Pro Tools. If I load that plugin I can add/remove any VST plugins within DDMF while playing and it won't skip. I was hoping that the new version of Pro Tools would have fixed it.

      @IJLAudio  Před 5 lety

      Hey @Mr.Shade , good news, Avid have announced Pro Tools 2019 which includes a fix to this problem (they're labelling as "non-stop music production). Hit the bell, I'll be reviewing it as soon as I get it (I also need to cover the features from this year's updates so it will be a good one!). Hope you see this! 🤘🏼🤓

      Believe it or not there is already a Pro Tools 2018.3 release (so kudos for the guys at Avid obviously crushing some immediate bugs!). I would imagine you are safe for about 18-24 months at a guess; Apple's APFS introduced with High Sierra might start shaking things up! Big ups being that now Avid is under the subscription model and will be retaining support on a much larger scale from now on (like the fact that you can still use your 10, 11 and 12 licenses with your subscription). Pro tools should’ve stopped at 10 what’s the point of the expensive software that doesn’t allow me to use my favorite plugins because they’re aax. Then if you lose your Ilok you’re sol or out of $40 save it avid once I get my license back I won’t ever upgrade or purchase from avid ever again even if they’re giving away free bricks of gold with every purchase

      PT 10 was 32bits, they had to reconfigurate all codecs for PT 11 and further, as they are 64bits, thats one of the reasons.
