I’m still with 2019 for the moment. My student level subscription has finally run out so I have been quietly keeping an eye on MacOS, plugin and Pro Tools versions/compatibility to pick the right setup for my needs. I’m hoping it will be PT 2020 on my Mac mini with MacOS Catalina and the plugins I really need and can afford to update! Will definitely be reviewing PT 2020 before the end of the summer so keep an eye out! Thanks for the interest 🤘🏻

Hey! I believe these outlines indicate tracks that are called to attention under Pro Tools EuControl for external controllers. If you are seeing these outlines and you don’t use any controllers, you may have “Eucon” enabled. I think it is under Peripherals in the menu bar. Write again if you can’t find it, I can send more details when I’m at Pro Tools myself!

@@IJLAudio Hey yes I am using a external mixer which also controls the daw. Can I take the outlines off with out it effecting the mixers controls?

@2InspireStars Production I don’t think you can remove these as they indicate which tracks are currently under control. To my knowledge, there is (unfortunately) no option to hide this or remove them. However, I know that under peripherals and “Ethernet controllers”, you can select a colour for the active controller. Again, I’m not with my machine as I write, but I had the idea you could at least change it to something more neutral like black or grey. Hope this helps! 🤓

Hi Steve, I’m not sure specifically on each. Certainly the “. - number - .” (Numeric keypad) shortcut works for switching memory locations but as for tempo automation I’m not sure! Hope this helps!

Hi @A M , it's hard to say which would be better for your workflow without knowing more. I would imagine that if you already use Davinci to edit video, it would be most efficient to use the fairlight engine. As for comparisons between their conversion you could perhaps look this up. Although I presume you are not enquiring about composition or music; Pro Tools and other DAWs would be best for this, but as mentioned above, the firelight engine should be more than enough for you to edit audio to video with ease! Hope this helps 🤓

If it is just for music production you wish to use Fairlight, I would actually recommend another DAW. Although I admittedly know nothing about Resolve, I would imagine you will have an easier time in DAWs such as FL Studio, Ableton Live, Peo Tools or Logic Pro/Garageband if you own an Apple machine.

Cool. Love the modulating progression at 17:00 and the way that it moves (delay on the left?). But also that solo sound is "ripping". It seems easier to do this sort of playful stuff in ableton than in Cubase. I always have timing problems with Virtual Instruments on Windows, guess I need to re-install windows. :( Is guitar your first innstrument? Please do more breakdowns like this, I subscribed!

Realraven2000 has to think about that! Remembering my limited theory... it actually doesn’t modulate (I don’t think!). Just 6-5-4 and quick 7-1 with the semitone between! (If have to write a chord chart for the tonality 😅).

Realraven2000 your virtual instruments problem sounds like latency, have you got delay compensation on in Cubase? (I haven’t used it so I don’t know any more!)

I have, I used to have a M-Audio Delta 1010 + Delta 66 in Windows, but upgraded to the Steinberg UR 824. My problem is that the delay increases the longer a session runs. I can play along live & it sounds fine but all the midi events are "recorded later" so that I have to pull them forward to sit in place for playback. Steinberg support suggested resetting my profile (which I did with no success) and the usual "reinstall windows" - a daunting task I usually shy away from. I am still using the Deleta1010 for windows sound playback + streaming (actually using 2 hardware inputs to get a cue mix from Cubase, which happily ignores the Delta now) but I may remove them at one stage just in case it's a "dual sound card" issue. I also tried syncing the cards via SPDIF (Steinberg being the master) in case it's a MIDI sync issue, but no success there. I suspect it's some driver USB though, maybe I have to lose the Corsair keyboard or webcam. Could also be AntiVirus / Video Drivers / web browsers etc. I think Windows is a great platform but it's so diverse that there are too many variables that can go wrong. It's versatility (I also game & develop on the same machine) is both it's greatest advantage and downfall.
