  • Onewheel vs EUC Which is Better? The great debate! If you own a Onewheel, then you probably think the One Wheel is the better machine. If you own an EUC (Electric Unicycle), then you probably think the EUC is the best! What if you own both?
    So I'm not going to give a definitive answer here as both PEV's (Personal Electric Vehicle) have their own strengths and weaknesses. In this video I try and cover the Pro's and Con's for each PEV and let you decide which one is the best for you!
    Go to my Block for a list of Pro's and Con's:

      Yes, the transition to an EUC makes more sense, faster, farther, more versatile... I really wanted to see what all the fuss was over the Onewheel so I got a cheap used one to find out. I love it for more relaxed rides or if I'm going somewhere and I am not sure if I will even ride, but want something in the back of my trunk I can hop on just in case. It is way easier to grab the Onewheel and gear all up and ride it over an EUC. At least the larger heavier faster EUC's.

    • @tremartin4727
      @tremartin4727 Před rokem +2

      You can easily throw a euc in the trunk depending on size and weight . I got the ex30 and the v12 and put them both in my suburban no issue .

      @@tremartin4727 My S22 EUC weighs in around 80 pounds so not so easy to place in a high trunk as compared to my 25 pound Onewheel but smaller EUC's are for sure manable puttin in a trunk. I also have to factor in all the protective gear I use on an EUC when going for a ride, usually full body gear and motorcycle helmet. With a Onewheel since you usually only go around 20-24 km/h I can get away with wrist guards and a bike helmet. Elbow and knee pads if I feel like it.

    OW and EUC are the same concept but 90 degrees twisted. That is a big disadvantage for OW because batteries must be inside the "pedals" and OW wheel must be necessarily smaller in diameter...also acceleration in OW must deal with deeping the "forward pedal" against the ground, so, OW is seriously limited by its concept design compared to EUC.
    This does'nt mean OW can't give a lot of fun.

    Big EUC are super great in their own category. That S22 is, let's say, one of the smallest of the big EUC.
    For a good comparaison, a small EUC would make more sense, like a Inmotion V8, or even smaller, like a Kingsong 14D.
    Cuz Onewheel dont stand a chance against medium size EUC with top speed of 40 or 50km/h. They will overheat in minutes just trying to keep up.

    About protective gear - it's a must not because it seems that a rider is destined to fall (there are more riders who never fell even once than the "scratched ones") but because of a chance of technical malfunction, which can never ever be 0%. Any inline two-wheelers just slow down if anything happens inside them (and even they promote some protection).

    • @getfitover40
      @getfitover40  Před 10 měsíci +1

      In Canada, we switched from imperial to metric when I was in elementary school. So as a country, many people now think in both. It's kind of worked out that most people still use imperial for weight and height. We use km on our road signs but explain distance in miles. The temperature is generally discussed in Celsius unless we are talking about a pools temperature, then we say it in Fahrenheit. The younger generation uses more metric but kind of understand some imperial because their parents use it a lot. Oh ya, we use imperial for most construction as in feet and inches when measuring and even description of lumber, sheets are 4x8 (feet). Studs are generally 2x4s (inches). The funny thing is a 2x4 isn't really 2 inches by 4 inches anymore as they have gotten smaller in diameter over the years and are closer to 1.5x3 now.

    Dude, at this point EUC have so much more performance for the same convenience factor it's a no-brainer. And it's just a safer design, no foot sensor, you can ride with one leg, larger wheel even on smaller EUCs means you are safer with bumps, you can see both ways, climb and go down steep hills or jump ramps, OW is still a thing only cause they did a great job with influencer marketing.

    Onewheel is fun but very limited and more dangerous than Euc for me

    • @getfitover40
      @getfitover40  Před rokem +4

      The Onewheel is limited compared to the EUC in many ways for sure, Speed, Range, Terrain it can be used on, Fun! For sure. More dangerous? Not sure both can be but in different ways. In most riding conditions, if you do not push the Onwheel past its limitations, then you very unlikely to crash on it, if you do crash on a Onewheel being in the side stance, it can turn into more of a cartwheel faceplant rather than a get off. On an EUC a crash tends to be a more controlled dismount. That said crashing on an EUC at 50+km/h is not fun! Most crashes on both of these units will be at lower speeds when riding challenging terrain. In terms of fun both are fun, depends what you want to ride and how far and fast you want to get there. The Onewheel is less of a commitment to ride, throw on a bike helmet and some wrist guards and you're ready to go, supper easy to throw in the back of a car and take with you just in case you want to ride at some point. The EUC requires perhaps more forethought and readiness as I only feel comfortable on it when wearing full protective gear top to bottom. Nothing beats an EUC as to what it can do in terms of diversity.

    Doesn't even seem like a comparison, the Onewheel can't go down stairs, can't sit on it, doesn't have suspension, wipe out easier so it's more dangerous, can't go as fast, can't go over bumps as well, the euc might be the ideal personal transport vehicle, compact, powerful, trolley handle makes easy to travel around with don't need to lock it up like an e-scooter or e-bike.

      Maybe so but still Onewheels are a lot of fun to ride, kind of like the difference between snowboarding versus skiing.

      EUC overall as a purely personal transport vehicle, sure. But Onewheels are plain fun. Not saying EUCs aren't, they're just different.
      Onewheels are better in tight spaces, and are 100% superior for dog walking. Unless the dog just wants to run constantly and never stop, maybe an EUC could also work in that case.

      @@garrymullins They are for sure a lot of fun until you bail. I did sell mine as I found it to be more dangerous than my EUC. When you bail on the OneWheel you are in a sideways position which makes it a lot harder to bail in a safer manner. On the EUC I am facing forward and in a better recovery position, most times at slower speeds I simply run out of it or do a quick roll rather than a sideways shoulder crash and tumble.

      @@getfitover40 Fair. My only at-speed (20 mph) nosedive, I got one very solid foot down, which absorbed a lot of the impact, and then I rolled. Was nothing. But I probably got lucky.

      @@garrymullins I had a bad one going down a loose gravel hill, got going a bit too fast and panicked, ended up falling downhill onto my back on some rather large rocks and really got scrapped up and bruised up. Was not feeling good for about a week.
