The audio I used in the video comes from the European dubbing, but the changes in the Canadian version are not massive, in terms of songs: the same recording was used in both versions (except for very few voices which changed), whereas the spoken parts had different voice actors and completely different scripts in the Canadian version.

idk much french but camillo rhyming "rats" with "toi" is amazing
"rats" rhymes with "toi", the t and the s of "rats" are not pronounced and o + i = is pronounced "oa". So "rats" is pronounced "ra" and "toi" is pronounced "toa"
Don't try to understand the logic, even the French don't understand it ^^'
@@komiky8543 thank you so much for explaining this!!! i've been studying French recently and i am very confused lol but i won't think too much into it 😄

3:21 I love that in the final part Dolores cuts herself off when she has to say something "n'en parle à personne, à personne", like she's afraid to reveal it
yes!!
I never heard her saying this before, but it’s very interesting !
? "N'en parle à personne" ? It's not "y voit tu plus clair" ? Because i'm french and in the lyrics it's not "n'en parle pas"
@@DYKTTSATUOB elle a pas dit n'en parle a personne elle a juste dit y vois tu plus clair
translations in english below are changed because of copyright
I like how the lyrics in this version make it seem like Bruno is much more actively a villain.
For example, the line in English is "your fate is sealed when your prophecy is read", whereas in this version the direct translation is "that's your destiny if he tells you so". Really makes it seem like Bruno himself had the power to make all those things happen, which is interesting.
Not so much, in fact it's quite the contrary.
The things is, in "S'il te le dit c'est que tel était ton sort.", "était" is conjugated in the past, meaning that the fate of the person was already predetermined so Bruno is just telling along whereas in the English version Bruno actively plays a role in the sealing of a fate.
@@clemente3966 I think a clearer translation of the line could be "if he tells you so, that's because it was your fate", which also conjugates the verb in the past and doesn't imply him playing a role in it either.
@@UltimateHammerBro
you're actually right AND found a way to make it able to be sung with the same flow whereas the translation of the video was breaking it.
Mad props. 👏👏
@@clemente3966You mean, he doesn't transform the destiny but only can read the destiny that existed before
The villain ilusion can also be made by the line in the lyrics "and he laughs when you scream"
Why am I obsessed with pepa saying, "I should be telling mirabel" in French now.
Even for a french like me, there is an enticing rythm plus a nice sonority to it, with the "DIRA MIRA" in "dire à Mirabel"
Because it's great and my favorite
@@d.e.2526 I love it
Same
I know right
This made me notice the double meaning in the English version: at the end of Delores' part she asks Mirabel "Do you understand?"
Not just "do you understand what I'm telling you?" but "have you discovered the meaning of Bruno's vision?"
That just makes so much sense!!!!!!
More than that, she says “…Grappling with prophecies THEY couldn’t understand. Do YOU understand?” So, yeah, this question definitely has a double meaning.
It's Dolores not Delores
Fun fact: Dolores means pains in Spanish
Dolores, not Delores. "Dolor" mean pain in Spanish. Dolores would be "pains", if it was a plural for pain.
@@vervideosgiros1156 Yeah, sorry I got the spelling wrong. I more often see the name Deloris and must have combined the two in my brain. lol
3:30 was such a beautiful sound
This is one of the best dubbed versions I’ve heard! I love that they managed to make most of the lines still rhyme, too!
Thanks for finally allowing me to know what Dolores sings at the end, I barely heard the beginning was the same as Isabela's 😅 and thanks a lot for the translation as a whole!
Thank you ^^ I think Dolores' line is like the big highlight of all these videos hahahaha ....which makes me nervous, because I don't have the faintest idea what she's saying in my native Italian X'D
@@FlamSparks for what I can hear in Italian she simply repeats her verses like the English version and then says “lo vedrai” 4 or 5 times like Isabela. They mixed her verse in that part so badly tbh
Yeah, I can't tell what Dolores's s saying at the end in my native English version :)
@@justcallmethewearethetiger1868 to hear her easier, maybe change your audio to the left ear or right ear, sometimes they make her easier to hear het
In the Original English version she says:
Grew to live in fear of Bruno stuttering and stumbling;
I could always hear him sort of muttering and mumbling;
I associate him with the sound of falling sand: Ch! Ch! Ch!
It's a heavy lift with a gift so humbling; always left Abuela and the family fumbling
grappling prophecies that they couldn't understand.
Do you understand?
He told me that the man of my dreams
would be just out of reach:
betrothed to another, another,
And I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine.
When I first heard the French version, I thought that it was interesting that for Dolores's verse, they went with "se marier," which means, "to marry," rather than, "se fiancer," which means, "to betroth." I thought perhaps they went with that because they thought "se marier" sounds a bit more in tune than "se fiancer." However, I couldn't help but feel that it gave the impression that Bruno's vision might have been incorrect, since in the original English, it was crucial that the word "betroth" was used, since it left open the possibility that the betrothal would not work out.
However, on a second listen, I realized that a big component of Bruno's outcast status was the fact that the people he gave visions or advice to saw them as set in stone. With that in mind, I thought, "Of course Dolores would misread the vision as solely meaning that Mariano would marry someone else." With that in mind, I think that she did conclude, in both versions, that Mariano would indeed marry Isabela rather than simply becoming betrothed to her and it not working out.
I also have to say that the relationship between Bruno and Dolores is something I would enjoy seeing explored more if Disney decides to produce an Encanto sequel or series. I find it interesting that she still expresses sympathy for him even if she did get a supposedly bad vision from him.
But maybe, Bruno's vision was correct on french version because as you said, she was saying "se marier" and not "se fiancer" and that does not mean Mariano is going to marry Isabella. We don't really know who he was reffering to. All we know, is that it's not Dolores because she said "allait se marier à une autre que moi". Even tho in the ending of the movie, Mariano wanted to marry Dolores but she told him to calm down. Maybe if she didn't say " à une autre que moi" which means "to another one", the vision will be more logic as i said we don't know who he was reffering to, and like this, Dolores is a possibility.
@@catylastar4469 It makes sense. Bruno would have had to have given Dolores her vision before Mirabel didn't get her gift and the cracks started to form. Had those things not happened Isabela would likely have been stuck marrying Mariano.
@M.Joseph I had to rephrase it too. It was going to be worse!
She actually says "the love of my life was going to marry another". GOING TO. Like, "about to". And, indeed, they dropped the marriage just before the wedding, so Bruno was right.
The rat part is so good in french
Camilo's voice actor had too much fun flexing his french accent
I like the line "tough luck for you" idk why I find it funny, but it FITS.
French Camilo also has an illegally satisfying voice.
You know that in the French version the voice of Mirabel and Julietta are really mother daughter

I like the cartoon "Encanto". This song is my favorite in this cartoon. Camilo's voice in French is so beautiful and wonderful 😍 especially when he sings "Isabella your boyfriend is here (ENG)"
The priest's line was amazing.
I'm curious about the translation of "ne parlons pas de Bruno". I'm studying French now, and even though everywhere I've seen has translated it as "let's not talk about Bruno", I was thinking it would be "we don't talk about Bruno" considering it isn't in the imperative form. Just wanted to see if any French speakers in the comment section could explain!
In a weird way, that _is_ actually an imperative form. Or better, that on the 1st plural form is called an "exhortatory": not an order, but rather a strong encouragement (much the same way the English "let's" works). How do you understand that's an exhortatory and not a plain present form? From the lack of the subject "nous": were it *"nous* ne parlons pas de Bruno", then we'd easily say that's a plain indicative present form, a basic description, much like "we don't talk about Bruno". But since the subject is omitted, you can easily understand that that's an exhortatory, the same way the imperative form works:
- "tu parle/vous parlez." ("you talk.") - "parle/parlez." ("speak (up).")
- "nous parlons." ("we talk.") - "parlons." ("let's talk.")
@@FlamSparks Ohhhh that makes sense! Thank you so much for explaining that to me!
@@wearawatch7352 np 😌
it's more "Don't talk about Bruno" in imperativ form, by ordering themselves
But We don't talk about Bruno can also be translated directly to On ne parle pas de Bruno which has the same amount of syllables and is the English translation
I almost love the translation more than the original!
My favourite is camilo's part It's just magical😅
0:31 is the only part I heard in French which inspired me to listed to the whole song in French. (0:31 est la seule partie que j'ai entendue en français qui m'a inspiré à lister toute la chanson en français.)
