about time somebody actually shows something other than tile and ridiculously expensive shower setups
I put a 5 piece around a shower bathtub setup in kids' upstairs bathroom and somebody recommended putting spray foam in the spaces of corner shelves and letting it harden before putting it up it stiffened up the shelves and made them more sturdy
I remember the first time I installed a similar shower wall board and I used liquid nails because it was extremely cheaper than the recommended adhesive and everything was great until it dried and you could see every place I put the liquid nails on the wall board very expensive lesson to learn lol, great video ,love all of your content,GOD BLESS
love seeing the mishaps on home improvement videos. Its real world . All of the other videos everything always seem to go so perfect. I love watching your channel. keep them coming.
Glad you like them!
You know what ur doing bro. Not many people know to pull off the piece to ‘activate’ the glue. I learned that installing hardwood floors with liquid nails……you know your stuff….respect
Cheers Kyle, amazing what you learn in time reading instructions. Cheers!
I'm pretty sure it is also written on the instruction manual of the glue ;)
true but only real men read instructions! Cheers!
I recently installed a shower as my neighbour absolutely loves a morning "How's your father" after her husband leaves. Loads of rails for getting her/my legs up and even a hose to get those extra dirty spots. Best regards, Cleg
@@clegsmegson2627 hopefully he doesn’t forget his lunch and double back home.
,I have watched many of your videos and I am very happy and proud with the results. I am 72 and have had to do everything myself after my husband had a stroke in 2015. In 2017 our son passed away from MS and we have the house. After his daughter moved, I have been renovating it. I decided to add a shower to the upstairs bathroom and the instructions that came with the MAAX tub SUCK! They should pay you and include a video with everything you demonstrate. Without you I would be lost. I can't afford to hire someone but I can afford the interest free payments from Home Depot. I got the first hinge on with no problem BUT the 2nd came with a warped rubber piece and the part that's inserted into the little groove won't stay put. I get one end in and the other pops out. I considered trimming it but was afraid that it would not seal. As I type I am soaking it in hot water and then I will try gently stretching it. I thought of stretching it with 2 sets of pliers and had a vision of it ripping apart! Any suggestions? I don't know if you monitor this so I will have a chocolate bar and then see if you replied - obviously you are smart and don't publish a phone number in case silly old ladies ask dumb questions. Fingers crossed that you will see this soon. It's about 3:30 on January 10th 2024.
hi jeff,Daz from oz, love ur clips,i really respect how you even show any mistakes, very honest,i also have broken screws and glued them in, looks normal, great show
Always entertaining, at the same time, satisfying to watch your content! Would be really stoked to start a DIY project sometime soon! Great video as always!
Go for it!
Found your channel recently and absolutely loving the content. Looking forward to catching up! So much helpful information.
Welcome aboard! Cheers Jamie!
Excellent video, and your instructions are really easy to follow. You definitely have some very good tips, like the activation and the painter's tape. Thank you so much. You made my upcoming installation easier and more professional.
Thank you for this detailed instruction! I purchased this Maxx shower for my farmhouse renovation. Looking forward to the install.
Glad it was helpful!
What model is it?
I like the new edits, they're funny and a cool blubber/blabber combo, never can have too much of Jeff
watching Papa Jeff religiously, that's the spirit. thanks for more content our way.
Great video jeff as always looking forward to seeing the completion of this bathroom. Cheers
Cheers!
I'm looking to add plumbing in a tiny home. Thanks for the advice
Jeff a real good video showing each step. That was a neat treat flipping that drill with your foot.
Cheers Larry!
Look forward to every upload! Appreciate you Jeff 👍🏼
I appreciate that! Couldn't do this without our members. Cheers!
Love this thank you, I made a huge mistake by not doing the negative air and I paid for it BIG TIME and I had to clean my dusty room for 5 days afterward. What a nightmare!
Some tips on those mounting screws for the glass that keep breaking:
#1 throw them out and go get some US screws. They won't break as easily
#2 tighten the screw by hand using a screw driver or ratchet. The vibration from drill/drivers shatter the cheap china steel
#3 use a little oil on the screw to help with the threading
#4 to ensure a perfect thread, use a tap. You will likely need a bottom tap to get all the threads
Great vid, always encouraging to do better with self confidence!!! Here from Texas
Cheers to Texas!
Installed the same shower enclosure two years ago. I purchased two similar plastic panels for the interior at Home Depot..they do carry them. I decided I wanted to increase the height of those panels supplied as I felt they were not sufficient. So my point is if you do make a mistake in cutting the panel you can get a similar panel, the only difference is it has a pebbled affect. The smooth side I placed against the wallboard.
I'm missing it. Which shower is this? I want to see if it's still cheap.
I have to replace our 20 year old first floor shower stall so this video came in very handy. I'm using a Maax shower from Home Depot as well.
This video is very informative, thank you for your educational DIY channel ❤🎉😊
Loving the thumbnail, thanks for all the great content Jeff!
Glad you like it! Cheers Danill!
Love the video! Lots of great hints. I laughed at your drywall anchor comment. It`s comical they think anyone would use those to secure shower doors.
That drill flick...... Impressive.
it sucks when you drop it and break something lol
Thank you! Very informative video.
Love your work 💖
Thank you! Cheers!
I feel like you're in my search feed and pop out a video like magic... literally just look up showers haha!
Love that! You are going to love the simplicity and versatility of this product! Cheers Jennifer!
So hilarious and helpful. Thank you.
Another great video. Thank you 👍
Cheers Gary!
Jeff taught me how to paint, how to tile, how to drywall… thank you Jeff❤
That is awesome! Cheers!
Me as well. Amazing thing is that he is so descriptive I as a blind individual can follow right a long while completing my projects. Gold standard.
One year later and these cost like 1000 bucks. none else feel like Home Depot is price gouging right now?
Great vid thanks
Thanks for the video =)
Love this show. 👍
Cheers Myrna!
Love the videos, I have learned so much. One thing I wish you could link where you bought the shower from I can't find anything near me that is like that. Also the cheapest kit is like $800. I understand my region might be a different price but still can't find this exact product. My shower just started to leak so I need to fix it fast and something cheaper since we plan on redoing it a few years from now but wanted something that will be ok for now. This is perfect I just can't find it... Lol
This was the easiest shower I ever installed. My back doesn't hurt one bit!
the truth is those panels are the lightest glass panels on the market. Cheers!
Its interesting to see maax. Its a local company in the next town over. Never looked into if they were any good though... mabey ill see if i can buy direct for our bathroom
Looks really straight forward. Any chance of getting a url link to this maax product?
How would I go about installing this if I have metal wall studs? Or should I consider adding some regular wood ones in the bathroom?
Epic thumbnail. I’ve actually used a sanding sponge in the shower to get abs cement off my arm. That stuff is no joke.
right, that or 3 or 4 days to grow out.
That’s exactly what I would do - no shame Jeff 😮
Awesome Video! Thanks ❤
Cheers Sheila!
@@HomeRenoVisionDIY 👍
Buying a house and remodeling myself been binge watching your videos and love them thanks
Right on! Cheers Hunter!
Hi Jeff,
First of all, damn I f….. love your videos. Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge.
Second, which Loctite product is the right one for this installation?
Thanks!!!
Hello,
Would you provide a link or recommendation for the laser level. Saw comments about some not good for smaller/bathroom projects. Thank you!
Sanding sponge as a loofah? I'm watching for sure...
Awesome instructional video. I'd love to see one on how to keep the glass/shower tracks clean. I just purchased a 5 year old home and the previous owner didn't bother to clean the shower (and many other areas). The glass on the shower doors is caked with hard water/scum. Cleaned it with dawn and vinegar which helped but it's still grungy. Any suggestions would be great.
try a product called Iron out. it cleans up real good!
Great as usual! Two questions: Where do I buy this shower door and the wall panels? And, why do you need green board if ur going to use these water proof panels?
i never said code made sense. LOL. I got mine at the Home depot. Cheers!
Hi Jeff: for the sheared screw, couldn't you drill through the first hole (and broken off screw piece) again?
Thinking about installing a 5 piece kit over my existing tile. You mentioned the adhesive is capable of adhering to tile. Any concerns with the texture of the tile showing through the panelling?
Hi Jeff,
Will Loctite Power Grab Tub Surround work as well? It says 0 sec. Instant grab?
Thanks
I would leave the protective film on and only peel it back to where I need to work. Then take if all off when everything is done
that works too. Cheers!
Do you have a video of doing this with a 4 piece kit? and installing glass doors on those?
My thoughts on the decorative cap fix, I can't see it from my house. ;-)
Awesome install
Thanks 👍
Help. I am ready to install this shower. A 36 x 36 MAXX is what I need. Very small area. Cannot find anyone who carries this. I have tried Home Depot and Lowes but have struck out. Any ideas? Can I order direct from MAXX?
Love your videos. You cover everything plus the uh-ohs.
If you don't have 2x4 to screw the rails down what do you suggest if not to use dry wall anchors?
I can't help but notice that, around 34 minutes (when you were installing the glass walls), you didn't pat the walls twice and declare, "Well that's not going anywhere..." Seriously though, I'm still roughing in the electrical in my basement, but I'll be doing the shower down there soon. So videos like this will REALLY help. (And yes, I *WILL* be joining when I'm ready to start the plumbing so I can ask questions.)
Right on Michael. You can do this!
Is there a link for the shower kit?
Any tips for installing the base in the basement on concrete floor? Thanks
I’ll be doing this soon thanks!
Cheers!
Does anyone have the actual shower kit & adhesive used here? (Preferably the US version.) Tremendous video (as always) but I'm having a hard time finding a good shower kt.
Looks a lot like my shower which is 25 years old. Its fine, but might need replacement with a white model like that!
or you can remove the door kit. add a roll on membrane to the wall and tile it. then reinstall the same door system.
That 90's camcorder edit was badass, and with System of a Down and Linkin Park?? C'mon now 🔥👌🏽
Hi what type of caulking was used in this shower ? Anyone know the brand and type? Thanks
regarding stripping screws, I bet the instructions state they are meant to be installed with a manual screwdriver...
Did you use an impact driver? Because that invalidates the warranty on the screws too...
"always read the instructions" ♥️
usually, always!
Would the adhesive work with cement board or just drywall??
Is there a link to this shower unit?
What model is this? Hd and lowes have several maxx offerings. Thx. -U10
Maax showet enclosure you used? Link to the kit where we can purchase ? Pleass
Greetings from Bristol, Wisconsin!!! New member here, but can't get into the forum.
send us a message here forum@diycrewforum.com our team can help . Cheers!
You ever come across the corner shelf unit is 2 inch shorter then the wall Pannells. I unfortunately already glued the wall Pannells before I realized that I'm missing 2 inches on the shelf unit :( my unit is the technoform neo angle Cypress corner shower. Thanks
Question for you. My Delta shower surround says it’s direct to studs installation. Do I need backing and or drywall behind it?
not in your case. rigid surrounds many times get screwed to the framing and then trimmed out in drywall. Cheers!
Just installed a Mansfield neo angle and must be doing something wrong on the caulking on the outside base/wall. Everything is level but still leaking along the right side between the door and side wall. What is the best product for the front of the shower?
Can I get the shelf for an already installed shower? It’s not smooth.
I can’t seem to find this particular shower. Do you have any information on the model?
Hi new subscriber here. I never heard you say or show what model is this Maxx kit? They make a lot of models. This kit was approx $500? Anybody know what kit this is specifically? Cheers
can i install the paneling on top of an existing marble-like surround? i dont know how it is called but those white ones they used years ago
yes for sure!
Who installs a shower on a Saturday night? You should be drinking a beer after all your hard work this last week! Lol
gullty as charged and I was still live in the chat!
This guy...😆
As I'm doing this exact same shower instal on a Saturday night 😂
It seems that Homedepot in US does not sell PL 700, only Canada HD does. Any idea why?
Currently bought a old house. Adding a bathroom to one of the rooms seems like what I need to do. It's 2 bedroom 1 bathroom old farm house.
"It's not perfect, it's not supposed to be" !!! LOL
can i have the link to the shower please
Hi jeff do we have to waterproof behind these wall?
Can someone please link to the shower kit used in this video? I’m struggling to find it, thanks 🙏
my side panels started coming out from the metal bar, it seamed they were only pressure tighten with the rubber stripe inside the metal. I'm looking for a better and more firm enclosure system now. maybe something with more frame.
I have a tiled shower, can this be placed right over it or recommended do remove the tiling first?
right over top. you can actually but just the panels. and reinstall the glass.
Jeff, would it be wise to use a Red Guard behind the shower panels? For added protection ? Please advise
Did you ever find out about the red guard? We were thinking of maybe using it, but didn't know if it would cause any instal issues.
Are you installing the panels on drywall or cement board?
I know this is a year old video...I'd like the see what it looks like now. Do these type shower models have a long life?
Did you install to drywall or backer board? We want to install a shower surround to our existing tub, but it only has mold resistant sheet rock (purple rock) around the tub not backer board. Would that be ok?
Hi I am at the same stage. Can you please share what did you use behind the shower surround ?
Sounds like you maybe spent more time trying to find more screws to replace the screw that fell do to the wrong drill bit than it actually took to install the surround, that’s my kind of luck as well. Thanks Jeff for the video it was quite entertaining.
cheers. life happens!
Hi, Jeff. what is the model of shower?
Just found out that In US, HD sells this one LOCTITE Power Grab Express Tub Surround Construction Adhesive, not PL 700.
I just bought a house with a shower door like this. The entire assembly shifts side to side. Do they have screws in the bottom channels that hold the assembly from shifting? There is also now way for the door to stay closed! No magnets or anything. Main problem is when water gets on the tile floor it runs against the wall and destroys the base trim and drywall. Any help would be appreciated.
Maybe don't use the impact on the second screw after busting off the first.
LOL, just stubborn I guess!
If it would have worked, I'd be eating my words. You obviously know your tool though, even with a pressure sensitive trigger I still tend to go 0 to 100 too easily.
@@HomeRenoVisionDIY what size is this kit?
Cant help it😂 just know its going to work next time
@@HomeRenoVisionDIYwhich shower is this? Link?
can these panels be installed over those old 4 inch square tiles? I was looking to tear them off, but id be happy if I could just go over the top. I believe they've also been reglazed as the bathroom tiles are pink and the shower walls and ceiling are white and chipping.
Yes, at 18:25 Jeff says to put lots of pressure with your float to smooth out/ spread the adhesive, especially if you are going over tile. With that statement, yes you can put it up over tile. Good luck 👍
What model number is this shower kit?
