One of the best instructional videos I’ve seen on the subject. I’ve got over 37 years of experience, I should know. I’m now semi-retired and doing some shower remodels for side hustle. I’m definitely going to look at this kit for my next one.
Just got one of these showers and thought a shower curtain would work but water is coming out of the sides ..Do I need doors or is there another way to stop the water?
Great tip on the 2x10 reinforcement for a future grab bar, maybe add a second 2x10 in case it's a vertical grab bar, like one would have for exiting a bath tub. It would also be worthwhile to sketch a diagram of the 2x10(s) exact location, for a future installer to reference. We have a similar shower unit like this one installed in our basement bathroom over a concrete floor, so I sprayed expanding insulating foam underneath to insulate and support it further. Thanks for all the great tips Steve and kudos on the good camera work Nikki! 🖖✌
Would be cool if you included how you measured the dept of the shower valve and was you shower valve free floating no backing? Love the rest of the vid👍🏻
Yes free floating with the way it mounted to shower panels. It’s an odd valve for sure. But most valves can free float and anchor with escutcheon plate 👍
5.20 what is in the corner, craked, and you guys cover it up with fiberglass fixer? Also can you install a foldable wall mount seat? 21.39 what kind of panel were installed around the shower, top part?
Why do you spray it with the windex before whipping it with your finger. Also what kind of caulk did you use in the joints like were the top walls met the bottom base. Just wondering because I’m at this step at home and not sure what kind of caulk to use. Thanks and great Video I learned a lot and am more confident about moving forward in my shower installation.
It prevents the silicon from smearing. They make special sprays for it, but Windex does just fine. The joint needs to be caulked fully before spraying. If there is any gap, the Windex will prevent sealing to surround
Is cement backer board necessary for fiberglass units ? I installed 1/4 inch boards after realizing I should’ve used 1/2 but I don’t really want to replace it. Would it even matter if you don’t need them at all ?
I've seen too many of these videos where the installer leaves the tub or shower floor unprotected while they work the installation. Why? It doesn't take much to put a drop cloth or piece of cardboard down to protect the finish of the brand new unit.
@@BathroomRemodelingTeacherSorry if I hurt your feelings by pointing out your sloppy work. I realize YOU don't care if the tub gets damaged, but maybe the people paying for the work would like to get decent results. It doesn't take that much effort.
My guess… shower system (base and walls) $1,200-ish. Plumbing; assuming no concrete slab cutting and moving drain; $75. Assuming new diverter, pex piping and water supply to rain head; $500-700. Grab bars; approx. $36.00 each. Misc. Supplies $230 max. (caulk, drain, 2x material, etc) Likely 4 -5 days labor. And that’s high.
How dare you put a fiberglass base in a shower. A shower needs to be custom built with all that waterproof membrane, inside-outside corners. Or even better styrofoam base with little beach rocks on top. So when you stand on it little rocks can be embedded in the styrofoam base. A shower curb with bunch of corners to waterproof. 6 months later Tile Coach will come and dissect your shower like a doctor to find out what failed in 100 possible failures in a custom shower. Jokes aside I like that base, it is not beautiful but very functional.
Walking grout into a new fiberglass enclosure is going to really mess up the surface. A piece of cardboard down is a sign of caring and easy to do at no cost. Sloppy work is generally poor work. Really disappointed in the insulation install as well. I hope people are not taking this as the 'right' way to do an install.

Department store could you please tell me how you keep water off the floor?
Which brands for walk in shower kits would you recommend? Thanks for your videos!
Thank you. The shower looks beautiful. God bless you.

Thank you 😊 you won’t be disappointed with the make of the clarion tub & showers 👍

I wanted to see the plumbing of the water lines for the faucet and shower head on this!

Thanks Bob 👍
Nice , prefer this over tile any day lol. Good job
Installed a bunch of them. Good explanation
Good job amigo Hi from Madison Wisconsin 👍👍🙏🇵🇷..
Nice work! Great Vid!
Looks awesome 👍🏽
I like videos like this, that let me know I need to hire someone.
Use a non shrink grount. Regular mortar shrinks as it cures.

No door install video?? I need one!!
Nice looking bathroom.👍
What did you trim is out with? The product above and around the shower edges.

I’m doing one now for a customer. It’s just good to watch it done by someone who knows the ropes.
Good work.
Very nice job... do you have a video how you finished around the shower walls
How to tile around a shower

Hey, can you please give me a link for the drain you used for this?

Do you have to put wing nuts back on to hold shower together? Where the metel pins line the two up.
No need to add the wing nuts. Might not be a bad idea to do so if you set as a one piece…the pins are helpful to align the panels when setting 👍
Thats a yinzer for sure!😂👍
I see a mechanical vent ours doesn't have one we hear a little gurgling.
My wife is asking how to prevent shower mold from forming where the panels line up?
Nevermind, I bumped up the video to 4K and was able to see details I wasn't able to before.
Am I missing something, the mortar under the pan, doesn’t need to be solid?
Yes, mortar is soft when wet 😂 hardens when dry
Looking for a 54 in wide by 34 inch deep fiberglass shower stall? Does anyone make one with those dimensions?

@@JM-io4vb pound salt pal, spent literally 100 hours creating this video and that’s all you have to say GFY
What are the dimensions of this shower unit? Specifically depth.
Link to product in description 👍
Can glass doors go on this unit?
Yes, but you need to find the correct height. A lot of shower kits will extend above side walls
Thank you. Really appreciate the quick response. Your videos are great, keep up the fantastic work.

😆 yeah it’s been almost a decade since I’ve done a fiberglass 😆 probably be another one till I do it again.
All these great questions....and no answers..smh
Que the electricians for not having a nail plate over that wire on the back wall!

The biggest blasphemy is you not wearing a respirator 😂
dude don’t keep the pex in the sun you just compromised that pipe!!
Lol for the whole 24 hrs that I did this job
Guess it all goes bad by the time it gets to the box stores then 😆

Who asked
Dear consumers, Never buy the three pieces walk in shower. Because the mold trap around the gap very very bad.
Hush up...smh

I have the same issue, I can't tell if it's a must have to install the door and the builder didn't do it, or if I'm just bad at closing the curtain 😅
