About the likes controversy. There was cases of people getting fired because of it. One girl (a manager if I'm not mistaken) from Limited Run Games was fired because she liked a post about Hogwart's Legacy. There's also Gina Carano and Disney.

hiding the likes on twitter/x is largely a political move in regards to user optics.
ie. elon wants to monetize the platform for businesses and gov. officials, but doesn't want their indiscretions to be visible or weaponized.
eg. MTG liking every hatemonger conspiracy theory etc.

The like hiding thing is dumb,between making so people can like stuff and not be held accountable for it, it sounds like an option the hide analytics on how a subject is _really_ trending. Social media is becoming social mind control im kinda glad ive been pulling back from it for the last couple of years.
I'm of the opinion that it should be an option to make it private. I'm a privacy freak, though, so I wouldn't use Twitter under my real name.

Okay, as mentioned before, I have three reasons as to why Elon Musk (most likely) went for the name "X" instead of keeping the name "Twitter" as it was before:
1. The letter "X" is used a lot in pirate stories and lore as a way to mark where the possible treasure of gold would be buried or hidden.
2. X is the letter used as a reference to someone who's been denied entry, acceptance, or granted permission from/into a job, company, or event; Used as an alternative to a checkmark or the check symbol, a letter used for chromosomes in terms of newborn creatures (XX for females versus XY for males), used as an emoji for those whom are passed out, overwhelmed, or simply screwed for what they have said or typed in person or online (it's also used for someone who passed away or detrimental, which is now replaced with a "Skull" emoji); Or at one point in time, was used as a Production Code Administration/Motion Picture Association of America's "X" rating for movies and entertainment to only viewers 18 and over. It was also used for a Beer product (XX in the title) and using three X's (XXX) is mentioning/talking about or showing pornography. The letter "X" was also mentioned/used in the 1990s powerpuff girls intro of the title "Chemical X".
3. This one may not be known well enough but unless you're into the history of theme park attractions, The name "X" was used for one of Arrow Dynamic's last creative and last attempts at saving the company with a brand new type of roller coaster the "Multi-Dimensional" that premiered at Six Flags Magic Mountain simply titled "X". Which had a soft opening in December 2001 before opening to the public a month later in January 2002. Unfortunately the roller coaster "X" was riddled with problems, multiple shut and breakdowns to the point Arrow Dynamics filed for bankruptcy months after "X" premiered at Six Flags Magic Mountain, and thus Six Flags re-did the entire coaster track and layout into the new name "X2". However, how long with X2 at Magic Mountain would last is up for speculation. But if Elon Musk were to ever make a roller coaster by a simile name they could be sued by Six Flags themselves for using a name that was used for their roller coaster. However, considering trademarks only last 20 years, the trademark "X" name is most likely public domain once more and thus Elon Musk could use that name for something else. Needless to say, if anyone would be sending a tweet to you on Twitter/X, it would usually be called a "tweet" or an unusual made up name going by "Twex", a combination a "Tweet" and "X" which is in a similar vein to the candy bar "Twix" and the cereal brand "Chex".
Either way, many people prefer to use the name "Twitter" and much like how devs on "deviantART" was able to replace the new deviantART logo with the old one from the early 2010s, I do think something similar should happen for those who prefer the Twitter bird symbol rather than the "X" symbol.

However, I do think the reasoning behind Elon Musk changing the name "Twitter" to "X", after a year or two of why people hate it, I came to the conclusion on three things as to why he changed it. And don't worry, I copied it into my document as backup if this ever gets deleted...
Again, I'm not pressuring Mr. Sujano to pin this, considering that, unfortunately you can only pin one comment at a time (I noticed this on my own videos, BUT, Mr. Sujano can quote some of my lines if necessary, but the length of my explanations for "X" may be too long for people to digest and someone may need to make a TL;DR to make it more digestible; but that's just me. Still though, I thank you for the comment and the consideration, but I'm okay with having comments and such over likes and favors.
There was a joke that went around that, your likes are public and it help to show how some people were hypocrites when it came to somethings. Plus there's the fact that bookmarks are like a private like so why have likes be private when we have bookmarks.
Bookmarks are very useful on browsers to bookmark a website, post, video link, etc. to something that may not exist anymore, or as an easy way to jump back onto the site without having to type up the word again. I used to do this a lot back in the late 2000s when I noticed I can just simply click the bookmark name and icon of the website compared to just searching the same site repeatedly.

The reason that privating likes is a big deal, is because you could use a person's likes to uncover hypocrisy. There are many instances of one person trying to cancel another person on Twitter, but then if you go into their likes you learn that they are just some hypocrite who was trying to cancel another person as a way of clout farming.

The only reason that I don't have FPGA yet is the cost. I'll be very curious to see how this 'RetroFPGA' stands up to a MiSTer in terms of specs. $100 brings that right down into affordability, but it also sounds too good to be true. Gorgeous video! Thanks for taking us out on a walk.

If it will be a small batch you'll get either a good laugh from customs officers or a small fine if they will be in a bad mood. But if it will be like 20 tons of those you'll get some quality prison time. All because you have to pay taxes. And those numbers make quite a lot. Obviously for sale, not for personal use = large scale tax evasion.

So the like situation is sort of a shortcut to re-tweet as well, if you like something it would previously appear on your timeline that you liked it, now you have to re-tweet it. There's probably a bit more to it than that but I think that's part of it.

The hiding the like was supposed to be for personal security. Too many people have been canceled because of who/what they like. Well, this was one of the reasons anyway. For me, I couldn't care less.
I think Taki-Udon knew exactly why him and his team were going to commit to the original name they came up with. Because they are starting out new in the FPGA scene, they wanted to ride the wave of success of the MISTer and Raspberry Pi. Mr & Pi being 2-part names of those devices would get the attention of people looking for those, despite the possible name confusion. Seems to me like it's a deliberate move, but the backlash was too strong.
Ya steam felt like it became dominant because it has a superior product. People always complain about third party launchers and i onow so many people that dont by some titles because of that. This is a case of "the market has spoken"

Hiding likes on Twitter is largely political. Some people could be called out for saying something publicly but liking something that goes against that. Eg saying you're for LGBTQ rights but liking something that says they should all be kicked out.

I ultimately don't mind likes being hidden on Twitter. I would rather have it as a free option to switch if I wanted to keep it public or not. Sometimes thumb slips, or you are not paying attention, and you might like something stupid or horrible that you don't agree with. That's why I don't mind it.

Honestly regarding "overcharging consumers" on Steam is complete bull crap. As a peep from the UK myself, Steam is completely fair regarding Steam sales happening many times throughout the year; even when you wishlist a game and they discount it a reasonable amount (20% or more as PirateSoftware mentioned, which is a reasonable amount of discount to be emailed for) you can get the game on a sale. The only thing I'd understand is from the developers standpoint - 30% right off the bat might be a bit too much so maybe having a kickstarter plan where they gradually increase it (would be mainly for indie developers) would be really practical and allow them to have more money to provide more updates. But that wouldn't be for the consumer, that'd be to help devs.

Some people in the past mentioned that he would be talking too slow in the video, hence why he tries to talk faster so this way people with short attention spans or who don't have much time to watch the video can quickly watch the video without having to adjust the playback speed to say 1.25x or 1.50x. Hiding likes is vital for people being able to express themselves freely and like posts on twitter that people in power would deem as "unacceptable views" leading to people getting fired from their jobs and livelihoods ruined. Moreover, public likes skewed narratives towards one side simply due to that narrative being more pervasive in the media which does not represent how people really feel.
it's also vital for people trying to scam you with fake products or people buying likes to boost their ego and popularity status.
Well then I'm not sure why you would post it on Twitter compared to say, CZcams's community tab.....Just saying.

Epic had a chance but they keep pulling game off of steam then make their store better for user even this day need to 3rd party launcher to get games from epic game store give less reson to get lunch it and more user to see them and there offering.

On the likes issue, it's sadly political and not a topic for a lovely camping holiday but yeah, the most recent example is that far-right uk political party candidates got found to have liked pro-Nazi comments, and engaged with Nazis on twitter. Elon is a darling of the right, and since buying twitter he's done nothing but bend the platform to suit them and their agenda; hiding something that has always been public, and has been a point of embarassment for the right many times over the years, is just his latest thing. Meanwhile, he censors and bans anyone he or his friends don't agree with or like. Cancellation, from those raging against cancel culture, on a corporate level. The irony is quite something.
On the Steam case, I think the most enlightening article I've found so far is one on Reuters from the 8th December 2023 headed "Mass arbitration target Valve accuses law firm, litigation funder of ‘extortion’ ". Turns out, bad lawyers treat their staff badly, and that can lead to 'leaks' - like the Zaiger presentation linked in the article.

whenever i hear the valve quote of "piracy is a service problem", i only think of just how good steam is as a service that does just what it needs to do for selling and playing games and isnt trying to cannibalize when and how you play them/"forcing" devs on there, they just genuinely provide a good reason to play video games there
outside of the buying process being smooth (besides the weird janky cart redesign where you have to manually specify who you want to gift to), but multiplayer is smooth and easy and you can join directly off your friends and invite them in most games, there's built-in support for achievements and items and a lot of systems developers want to use, you can make guides and post fanart of the games you love in their communities, mod support can be built-in with a workshop, and just so many things that make itw ay more than just another game store
the original quote is actually just referring to how russian players usually got better support and faster releases from their local pirates than the actual game publishers years ago, and releasing their games officially in russia saw more sales and less piracy
