ShadPS4 actually just had an update on twitter 30 minutes ago. They're now able to get past the DS remastered character screen, and could play the intro cutscene with audio, albeit the audio doesn't start working correctly for a bit.

Mobile gaming and digital downloads have had an enormous impact on the hard copy gaming industry. I enjoy playing games on my Moto G53 smartphone like it's a handheld console. It's amazing you can now play AAA games that are free to play which have in-game purchases, but they're optional and not mandatory. Some of the titles eventually get released for the PC and consoles. When you consider how insane the costs involved are just to play hard copy titles is it any wonder people have switched to mobile gaming on their multimedia devices like smartphones. Plus when you consider the technological builds of smartphones are rapidly catching up with those of consoles. The Galaxy S6, for example, is 39 times more power efficient than a PS2.
Imagine paying to play Resident Evil 7 on iOS. The most scuffed version of RE7 in existence, running on devices that overheat even when playing mobile-only games, with no active cooling, no builtin tactile controller, bad loading time and bad framerate.
I mean I agree that it’s the worst way to play RE7 but at the same time it sucks to c it flop because the mobile app stores hardly have any real games, everything is micro transaction garbage & it’s conceptually cool to c real big budget single player games natively on phones. Apple probably should’ve chosen a deal with less demanding games that require less immersion tho. Playing horror games on the train to work doesn’t exactly set the mood lol. Imagine if stuff like the Mass Effect Legendary edition or Farcry 3 came to mobile tho, popular games that aren’t super new & demanding but could still be enjoyed on a phone/ipad with a controller. I hope Apple doesn’t c this flop as a reason to stop tryna get real games on their App Store & hopefully google joins them on that path for the play store.
What’s funnier about it is that I can’t even think of one person that asked for this. At all. They just put it out there with no demand, and so it of course fails miserably. Honestly, RE7 is such a weird choice for a game to put on mobile. If I was Capcom and wanted to port with one of my older games to mobile, I would have chosen like Dead Rising or MvC 2 or something. Screwing around killing zombies or doing quick battles in MVC 2 makes much more sense for mobile play than a full horror game like RE7
@@anthonytitone Apple’s (or I guess these developers as well) problem is that in their push to get real games on the App Store, they aren’t really considering what games will work well as a mobile game. Horror games like RE7 require immersion to be cool, and immersion just isn’t super great on mobile. I think like you said, games like Far Cry or Mass Effect would be great on mobile. GTA 5 or Red Dead would be great on mobile. Hell I even think like Fallout 3 or New Vegas could be cool on mobile, even if they kinda need a little immersion. Idk, I just think that a game needs to have like a good ability to screw around in if it wants to be good on mobile.

It’s kinda the idea that “I won’t buy RE7 on my I phone but knowing that RE7 runs I’m sure this & that game that I wanna play will run if it gets ported.” That doesn’t mean much to us as emulator users tho cause we already know roughly how powerful our phones r but the average Joe might not. Hard to know if this will pay off in the long run for Apple or not

The biggest reason why RE7 Apple isn’t selling well is probably because it’s an old game. The people that probably wanted to play it already had a place to play it. So most of the sales were probably reviewers telling us how it performed lol.
Installation factor and being exclusive to certain IOS phones is the main reason. People still play,demake and make stuff related to Resident Evil in one way or another.

There's another report that shows most players this year played older games as opposed to newer more recent titles (games that are at least six years accounted for more than 60% of playtime in 2023). This plus the fact that game sales dropping makes me think people do not like modern AAA games and would rather replay older games (or buy older games they haven't played before). These 2 statistics seem to paint a full picture that makes sense.
Tbf, 6 years ago and beyond is really not a good cutoff year. 2015, 2016 and 2017 releases were 🔥 Imagine The Witcher 3, BotW, Horizon Zero Dawn, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and NieR Automata are tough to beat for 2022 to 2024 releases. The only thing that can beat BotW was ToTK and Forbidden West can beat Zero Dawn, but the rest are nearly unmatched. And that's just scratching the surface.
One flaw with these statistics are that they usually include live service games which have huge playerbases. For example Fortnite will be counted as an older game even though it’s still being supported and updated.
I'm so glad someone is stepping in and doing something about Xenia, it's way overdue and I've pretty much given up on Xenia doing this. Xenia is a great emulator at playing games, but archaic as heck when it comes to doing just about anything else with it.
Xenia manager is amazing. Auto-updating itself and both the stable and canary builds, cover art grabber, SLC install that couldn't be easier and a great GUI for settings
Crazy, I found and old computer used for printing servers at work today with windows xp on it and actually played 3d pinball for the first time time since probably 2 decades back. And now I see it mentioned here. Hadn’t thought of this game in years but now 2 times in one day
Oof on that RE7 news. But to be honest, this was foreseeable for multiple reasons. 1. As you mentioned, the game is very big for a mobile game. Even without the need for double the space, that could be half or more of somebody's space. The double space needed basically ensures only those with 128GB models can actually install it since a 64GB phone would need space for the OS as well and would not have the 62GB of space necessary. 2. But beyond that, the iphone can technically play these bigger games, but it doesn't really have the cooling necessary to run them comfortably. So I would not be surprised if people turned it down due to that as well. 3. No matter how you slice it, playing a full game like RE7 is not going to be a particularly good experience on such a small device, especially if you don''t have a controller addon. The kind of person that is interested in this game likely has already played it as well on better hardware. 4. Lastly, other big publlishers already found that mobile users don't really care about full priced games. Most mobile gamers avoid the more expensive games. This is why most games on phones tend to be f2p games. Even if a mobile gamer were to spend hundreds in a f2p game over time, they see that as cheaper than paying 60 dollars once for a game since they pay 1-3 dollars at a time. So essentially this was bound to fail because not only is the hardware not quite there yet for most iphone users, the reality is that mobile gamers are not the same as pc or console gamers. There's plenty of overlap between the latter, but the former see gaming very differently. These two audiences look for different things in their games, and have value them differently. So getting mobile gamers to pay full price was bound to fail, and getting console/pc gamers to buy into iphone for games that they could already play on much cheaper devices with better performance and comfort was also bound to fail.
Another thing you should have added to the news: New update for Artic Base Server (v1.2.0) for 3DS emulators that support it: You can now use your Nintendo 3DS system as a controller in Pablo's Citra when playing your 3DS games through Artic Base.

I wish I could buy brand new games but living in Canada where switch/Xbox games are $90 at full price where I live, so its very costly! eBay and buying things online has been my go to for awhile now. just thought I'd share my experience and opinion on the subject. I know it's not the UK lol but I can see that being a reason!

Capcom needs to realize that not everyone has an iPhone 14, nor an M1 Mac to even play the game, it was a $40 game for mobile and 61 gb is insane, you need a 128gb iphone by default to play it, and then the gane doesn't even run well on top of that.

How does capcom expect to succeed with their released games on ios when they only release them on one mobile phone, when there's thousands of them? Maybe take a few years to make a product that would work on at least 50% of the recent devices, rather than just one. And for all of you saying it's impossible, it is possible. They've done it with Street Fighter X Tekken and Resident Evil Mercenaries+, and many other companies have done it with their games too. A downgraded product, at this point a game, will definitely work when it comes to mobile. Even if they need to change their engine or make the cutscenes not in game, downgrade physics or low model quality, it is possible and mobile gamers will take it. That would probably make them a ton of cash compared to now...
As for my speculation on why RE7 on iOS isn't selling well? It's because it's APPLE EXCLUSIVE. These are the clowns you only recently just got their first commercial emulator. The majority of gamers strongly prefer Android. Then when you break down the gamer playerbase into who the Resident Evil fans are, even less of them would be bound to use an iOS device. I can guarantee had these ports released on Android devices, they would have sold astronomically better. And yes, Apple babies, high end Android devices would be more than capable of playing it.

I have super mario 3d all stars physically and it sucks lol only galaxy has decent input lag. 64 and sunshine have bad input lag that emulating them is way better.

I'd love to learn how to do some stuff on my computer, like recording, with pc and steam deck, how to properly edit a video to upload, like compressing... I'd also order a few pies 🍕 play some retro games, show you around, talk about emulation... I have no idea how this works 😅
Xbox controllers are overpriced with poor quality control given how much better the competition is for the dollar. Flydigi vader 3 pro was 45$ for me and my starfield xbox controller I won at work was brand new but stick drift out the box. My replacement was the same. The chinese controllers on Ali wipe the floor with them imo.

It should be fine on m2 ipads and very competent on m4 ipads. For a phone though.... probably not.

3D Pinball is sadly not in GDI Format, for Redream. Anyone knows how to play it with Redream?
I played it in Flycast but it's slow, works best in DEmul. You could try to convert the .CDI to GDI

I will say that 60gb for one game on the iPhone is bad. Mine get hot and uses battery just for videos.
This is why every phone should have an SD card slot. If Apple wants to make their iPhones viable gaming devices, they need to figure that out. Cloud storage they can overcharge for is not a substitute for expandable memory.

How does capcom expect to succeed with their released games on ios when they only release them on one mobile phone, when there's thousands of them? Maybe take a few years to make a product that would work on at least 50% of the recent devices, rather than just one. And for all of you saying it's impossible, it is possible. They've done it with Street Fighter X Tekken and Resident Evil Mercenaries+, and many other companies have done it with their games too. A downgraded product, at this point a game, will definitely work when it comes to mobile. Even if they need to change their engine or make the cutscenes not in game, downgrade physics or low model quality, it is possible and mobile gamers will take it. That would probably make them a ton of cash compared to now...

As for my speculation on why RE7 on iOS isn't selling well? It's because it's APPLE EXCLUSIVE. These are the clowns you only recently just got their first commercial emulator. The majority of gamers strongly prefer Android. Then when you break down the gamer playerbase into who the Resident Evil fans are, even less of them would be bound to use an iOS device. I can guarantee had these ports released on Android devices, they would have sold astronomically better. And yes, Apple babies, high end Android devices would be more than capable of playing it.

I have super mario 3d all stars physically and it sucks lol only galaxy has decent input lag. 64 and sunshine have bad input lag that emulating them is way better.

Xbox controllers are overpriced with poor quality control given how much better the competition is for the dollar. Flydigi vader 3 pro was 45$ for me and my starfield xbox controller I won at work was brand new but stick drift out the box. My replacement was the same. The chinese controllers on Ali wipe the floor with them imo.
Xbox official controller stopped striving for quality in the 360 era.
