  • I couldn't find one already, so I decided to make this video on how to change the headlamp bulbs in a 2010 milan.

    Thanks for posting this...I will be replacing both at the same time...as it bothers me when I see cars with a dull lamp and a bright one. So appreciate your video!!! From a lady who takes extreamly good care of her 2009 Milan...who now has 259000 miles on it and runs beautifully

    Wisdom here. Smart man by buying two, not touching the bulb, checking before putting it all back together and saving yourself at least a buck by not letting the dealer scroo you over. Good videography skills and one beautiful Lab. One question though....Wisconsin or Michigan?

    Couldn't get the filter out because it was tied to some hose, but was able to wiggle my tiny lil baby hands past it and replace the bulb that way. Super helpful video, thank you for posting it.

    Just changed my passenger side headlight in 2010 Milan. Dont follow the steps in removing the wheel cover. Simply unscrew the plastic overflow container. Two screws. lift it up and you can reach right down and change the bulb. It took my brother 10 minutes.

    • @charlesgordon6442
      @charlesgordon6442 Před 9 lety

      I did it the same way, not sure how you can reach it from the wheel well but I took off the overflow tube, unscrewed 2 bolts that hold of the container and was a easy change, I would recommend doing the passenger this way. In my car there was no "door" in the wheel well and was a one piece.

      I was thrilled when I got the Ford recall letter for new taillights. I had one burned out and it was going to cost over $400 to replace it. They are some sort of ridiculous LED lamps... I like my Milan, but boy did Mercury screw up on the lights they put in.

    Thank you!! I just changed my drivers side low beam bulb in my 2006 Mercury Milan. I was a little scared to disconnect the air filter but it wasn't as difficult as I imagined it would be. It should not be this difficult to replace a light bulb though...the car companies should think their design through a little better.

  • @alcaholic6227
    @alcaholic6227 Před 3 měsíci

    ATTENTION do not remove airbox or remove wheel well fender!!! Drivers side is plainly accessible as is, maybe moving a rubber flap out of the way. Passenger side just remove to bolts to coolant overflow plastic tank and don't completely remove it or the hoses just set it aside a little and you can access the light bulb. Idk why the manufacturer or these people are telling others to do it this ridiculous manner. Props to the other guy in the comments that mentioned this otherwise I would have been duped as well.

  • @MrBuberti
    @MrBuberti Před 10 lety

    I used this advice to change the driver side on a standard 2010 Milan and it worked. It was actually quite a bit easier because I could reach the rubber cover without removing the air filter. But the passenger side was much harder because the wheel well cover is one long piece. And then it's tough to get two hands up to the bulb to unplug it and plug in the replacement. But the advice is correct. This is how it's done.

    Thank you for posting this. I am not mechanically inclined in any way, shape or form and my driver side headlamp went out of my 2010 Milan. I went to Advance Auto parts and bought the bulb and they usually have someone there who will offer to do this kind of replacement for me; but unfortunately no one was available this time. I watched your video and presto! I was able to change the bulb in just a few minutes. Appreciate the time you took to make this video. Thanks.

    dr07828 thanks SO MUCH for this very informative (and mildly humorous) video! I got a used 2010 Milan 4cyl back in July for cheap (37k miles, $10700) and what's the first thing that happened once the warranty expired, but a whole bunch of bulbs start burning out. I won't get into my taillight nightmare but replacing the driver side headlight after watching your video was a TOTAL breeze. Now to cross my fingers and hope the passenger side holds out a while longer because that looks like a PITA. Wish I had more hands to give you more thumbs up, we Mercury owners are a quickly dying breed and we gotta do what we can to keep the last ones running...

    • @charlesmeade4451
      @charlesmeade4451 Před 9 lety

      The passenger side is a pain in the ass. You have to take the splash cover off the passenger wheel well so you can reach through it to take the bulb out. I miss driving a vehicle that didn't have a computer running it and had enough room to work on it. This is life now.

    There should be a access door on the inside of the wheel well. 2006-2009 has that too, 2010-2011 should have a similar acces. also the 10-11 model year has a single low and high bulb where as a 06-09 has a separate low and high beam bulbs. Good Video!

    • @donaldreiman1539
      @donaldreiman1539 Před 8 lety +1

      and you would completely wrong. you should do some research before you post a comment like this. I happen to own the car and I assure you there is no access panel. as well in the owners manual it tells you that the way I did it in the video is how to do it. if you recall I hold the manual in front of the cam.

    • @MateuszSkrzyniecki
      @MateuszSkrzyniecki Před 8 lety

      I know i saw, but i worked on a friends 2010 Milan which was like the one you have in the video and it did have an access door in the wheel well. I had a 2008 Milan, it had a wheel well access. That is why I posted the comment because i helped my friend replace the bulb in his 2010 Milan and there was a access hole. so that means, some 2010-2011 Milans did come with the bulb replacement access hole and some did not.

    • @networkhoney4288
      @networkhoney4288 Před 8 lety

      +Mateusz Skrzyniecki you can say that all you want but there is no "door" you must remove the front half of the fender to get to it. they did not make any which differ from mine. in a loose sense yes there is wheel well access however it is half the wheel well.

    Haha, I was thinking the same thing about removing all that stuff...to replace a bulb. Isn't it crazy when it's hard to get to/remove things that commonly go bad? Sometimes I just wonder what they're thinking when it's difficult to do that for anything like a bulb, filter, or battery. Great video. I didn't know that about the low/high, which is why I sought out a video to confirm since it seemed weird as I was looking for part numbers. Thanks!

    Wonder why they changed the access hole in the right fender liner. My 2007 the right headlight is actually easier to change. Remove the oval access cover with a short phillips screwdriver then you can reach in and change either the headlight or the yellow marker/signal light.

      Money most likely. It was probably cheaper to get rid of the Bulb. Also dealers shops would make more money from people paying them to change the bulb.

    My passenger side went out just in time for new years 2014. I remember thinking what pain in the ass. It took about 20 minute once I figured it out. Clicking it in was harder than taking it out. Noticed you needed to do it twice too. Now I got the driver side, but my model is the hybrid. There's a battery there instead of an air filter. Seriously?!?!?! what engineer decided you have to remove the CAR BATTERY to change a headlight?? Now I'll have to reset all of my electronics...WOW!
