  • A few years ago I made a video on how to change the headlamp bulb in a 2010 Milan on the driver side because no one had yet made one. So a few years later the passenger side has finally blown out. So I am going to show you how to change that one today.
    Thank you,

    Thanks for your thorough video. I have a 2010 Milan Hybrid, and that manual does not give instructions at all... where yours has a nice diagram and steps, mine simply says to go to the dealer.
    Bottom line is that mine has washer fluid and coolant reservoirs blocking access to the passenger side bulb, BUT the same wheel well access worked for me. Saved me $200. Thanks!!
    When I change the drivers side bulb, I'll leave a Hybrid comment on your other video thread, because it's a very different engine compartment configuration than the standard. That one doesn't look so easy...

    Driver side light went out so I found your other video helpful. I decided to watch this one since I know when one goes, the other isn't too far away. Thanks for the heads up. I sure hope I don't have to do the passenger side for a while.

    Our passenger headlamp went out on our Milan and my wife went to NAPA to buy one because they normally will install them. The guy there said something about not having insurance in case something was broken, etc. Now I think I know the real reason he wouldn't install it! Can't blame him, though. Thanks for the detailed video.

    Good for you showing the recommended way to do this--very good and detailed EXCEPT you did not show how to one handed install the bulb into the wires/socket! This is a critical and tricky step! However, I was able to replace the bulb by simply lifting the anti-freeze reservoir out of the way and did not disconnect any hoses. This is doable.

    • @Latz51
      @Latz51 Před 2 lety

      I did also removed (or partially removed) the coolant reservoir container. I got the top hose off then used a bungee to hold it out of the way. Tried alternatives but its way too much work. Did the driver side in the Spring so hopefully never have to do it again.

    Great video my good man. Even though I had to do an upgrade to LED bulbs on a 2012 MKZ, I really could not find a video as good as and as close as this. Your dedication to the process was appreciated and very much welcomed...

      Which LED'S did you install? How are they working after a couple years? Thanks

    • @eightiesgod
      @eightiesgod Před 2 lety +1

      @@settlethetrades I have ones that look real good but don't really illuminate the road well. This seems to be a known / common problem with the projector headlight enclosures themselves on the Fusion /MKZ / Milan 06 - 12 , really no matter what LED bulbs are used. I failed to do my homework completely before the task:( The good news is you can use the same style or even stonger new ones on the fog lamp area and it really helps compensate. The lights look good, except for the projector caveat. Bulbs have gotten better since I wrote that just 2 years ago. Auxito will be what I go to. Good quality bulbs on Amazon. GL.

    Perfect instructional vid. I could not pry out the rivets, they were just 2 old. Luckily, the 2nd and 3rd rivet from the bottom up were already missing. So I pulled the wheel well back and squeezed my hand inside to access the bulb without removing any other rivets. I only recommend this if u have small hands

    Tip: Jack up the car slightly about 4 or 5 inches to give yourself a lot more room to remove the rivets and lower the inner fender panel onto the tire and also accessing the headlight bulb over the tire

    I just want to thank you so much! Because of budget constraints, I have had to try to learn to do some things myself with my car. I love my Malon but she’s older now and everything else seems to be in trouble. Lol but you gave me confidence that I can try to do this, and that is what I really respect and you took your time and you showed me every single thing. I need to feel confident in order to try to do this, so thank you I appreciate it.

      @@laurenwichman1429 oh man. Had the same issue with the inside lever. It breaks. You have to buy the whole inside assembly. They don't just sell a new lever. But is the lever that broke. I ended up designing and 3d printing one that fit just good enough to work and I replaced my own. I no longer have the Milan. But it was a good car.

      Wow! 3D printing for parts! You must be very smart! Three years now.. I’ve been putting the window down to reach the “outside” handle to open the door. That can get tricky when it’s ❄️ snowing.🙃 My question is…do you think I could take the interior door section off by myself to take a look AND get it “back-on” properly? Sadly, Most Wisconsin Auto Repair Shops and Dealerships way overcharge Just to look at it. Not much chivalry anymore. But, hey, you’ve helped me a lot by teaching me certain repairs that I CAN do myself. I saved over $300 on doing the front headlight ✅ thanks

    • @dr07828
      @dr07828  Před rokem

      @@laurenwichman1429 you don't have to remove the whole panel. Take the screws out that hold the lever assembly in. It should pop out. The assemblies run $60 - $80 online.

    Found this video after I had already done this on a relatives Milan. I figured out how to do it this the hard way but still took me almost an hour to do the passenger side. Did the driver side in less than 10 minutes, expected the passenger to be about the same, boy was I wrong. That headlight job is a bitch. If it was my car, id have made a hatch in the wheel well to get to the light.

    Car makers make things impossible. Don't remove air box, bulb is already accessible. Don't remove wheel well, just remove two bolts from coolant overflow and set aside and passenger side is accessible. Yikes to whoever says go through wheel well. Practical joke by mercury i guess.
