As a beginner, this video was really awesome. Great tips!
The right angle clamp was a real game changer for me. I cannot agree enough that it's an essential tool for pocket hole work.
Pocket jigs are the best. Thanks for sharing.
You have convinced me that I need a pocket hole jig. Now I am off to watch the pocket hole jig review videos!
Not for everything but you did a great job expanding the subject.
Just added a cnc4n machine to my shop. Awesome addition
Awesome video!! All joking aside, pocket hole construction changed it all for me because I was able to build awesome projects right away!! Definitely a confidence builder! Thank you for the content!
Same here brother. Had it not been for pocket hole joinery, I wouldn't be where I am. Game changer!
@@731Woodworks AMEN!!
Very frustrated. Try drilling the holes rip. With a new drill bit as the other was cheap and broke but it's a disaster. Depth everything set up perfect. So not sure what's wrong and no it's not a kreg. Wonderful video.
The Messca is a absolutely awesome Pocket hole Jig that will last a life time, Thanks Matt for introducing the Messca a while back, I wasn’t a fan of the blue plastic brand but after the Messca introduction I was sold and haven’t looked back since where pocket holes are concerned, it’s a great choice for strong joinery. Matt your the Man…. P.S you need to tip us off on the cool T’ shirts your always sporting.
The BEST video on this subject I have ever seen. Pocket joinery can indeed take a newbie a long way into the joys of woodworking. Thanks again brother!
I love pocket hole gigs I have one from kreg that is from the early 90's and it still works today as it did the day I unboxed it , thanks for sharing this info , I'm so happy your here 😊
Just an idea, but I changed the clamp on my K4 system to use the Rockler auto adjust T track horizontal clamp. Makes clamping quick and easy.
Superb video as usual! I’ve been using pockets holes for quite some time and I STILL picked up some good pointers from this video! Thanks Matt!
Glad it was helpful!
I got the 720 for Christmas and there was a screw size to material depth chart included.
I'm now a fan. I started back into woodworking as a hobby. Im on the Ok side 30 min from Ft.Smith. I like how you explain things. Can't wait to see more!
Thanks for the tips. I do have one question. What do you use the handcuffs in the background for?? (Hanging in the shelf behind you.)
Nice video
Thanks
Excellent video. What settings / screw size do you use if joining two pieces with different thickness. Like a 3/4 thick to a tubafour...
You're awesome Matt!!! Thank you.
Love me some pocket holes!!! Great video, thanks for the information.
Another great video. Thanks so much for the video, very helpful and informative.
Glad it was helpful!
It could be a cool idea if you bought most of the jigs from the major vendors and did a comparison on them. so the 3 major kreg jigs etc.
I love my massca and the base like yours but in mdf. I made like 200 last night and it's so enjoyable!! I modified the rubber hold because I use alot of pine and cedar and the small round rubber stopper left marks in the wood. Made a bigger one and it's perfect
I really like the idea of parking holes. I have both the Kreg and the Mascca M2. What I don’t like is that it takes twice as long long to drill the holes because the stop collar keeps coming loose. Any suggestions?
Matt another great video. Keep up the GREAT work. "It's Friday And Sunday Coming!" I know you know what I am talking about brother.
Where did you get that gold colored jig? I have the same one you do but I only saw the grey color.
Trying to find video on cabinets & cabinet doors HELP!
Awesome video. When you show tools and how some of the tools in your shop I feel like a kid in a candy store. I'm always saying to myself "I want that one, and that one, and that one. Oh and that one over there LOL.
Me too...
Hey Matt the pocket hole king. Have any tips to keep the pieces from moving when screwing? I’ve tried a face clamp and it still happens. Tried screwing in slow/fast and I had a one hole piece so I couldn’t use the hole clamps either and the piece still walks off of flush.
Hey man, love the videos. I'm new and just purchased my first pocket jig tool. My Dad has a small Kreg but I went all out and picked up the Massca Pro M2. Might as well, I'll end up with it eventually.
But I have a very important question. How did you get your Massca in Gold??? I didn't get Gold. And on a less serious note, what if I'm drilling a 2x4 into a 3/4" piece? How do I adjust for that? I see everyone showing how to drill into the same size pieces but not different sizes. Maybe I'm overthinking it. Take care.
Well the end of the video is playing. Heard the bad news on the Gold piece. What about those measurements?
Thanks for another great video! Talk about perfect timing, I'm actually waiting for ups to drop my new massca M2 bundle off today. Could you explain on when to use pocket holes vs biscuit joinery vs dominoes? Like when to use each. That would be great. Thanks again brother and God bless!
Great video! Amazing free info, thanks
Hi . Great video . I have a trend Jig which looks just like the Masca. I get loads of tear out around the pocket holes. Any clues why ?
make sure the bit is sharp (new) when they get older, you'll see more tear out
Very new woodworker here. I am really struggling to with my pocket holes because the wood keeps splitting when I drill the holes. I am trying to drill pocket holes down the length of 1x4 whitewood (very soft wood) and the pocket holes come out terrible. The wood splits terribly. When I make pocket holes on the ends of the boards they come out great. But when drilling them along the edges they are completely blown out and split. Any advice is very appreciated. Thanks!
Uncle Matt, in Mexico the 2x4 S4S lumber has a thickness of 1.75" what jig works for me? 🙏
Another great video Matt.
Hey Brother! Newer to your channel and loving your content. Quick question: you usually rock some great t-shirts. Any chance you’d share where I could lay my hands on some of those t’s? Thanks in advance. And thanks for all the knowledge!!
Thanks. Most come from kerusso.com or shieldsofstrength.com
Hola! 🖐 Really enjoyed this video, it's packed with lots of very useful info! Long live the King! 👑🤣🤣🤣 Take care and have a good one, Adios! 👊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Do you prefer kreg or massca? Any trade off with either?
The underrated jig is the Wen Pocket hole jig. It's all aluminum construction and includes tons of accessories.
the wen pocket hole jig is a rebranded harbor freight jig
@@davidcorliss all I know is it's 50 dollars cheaper than the K5.
That kreg right angle clamp cost 45 bucks I wanted to ask you if you think one is enough or would it be best to have two?
There's nothing wrong with a good pocket hole for all the hater's out there 😁 and Matt, I love your channel,it's like I'm standing in your garage when I'm watching your videos 🤜🤜
Great video, Matt.
Have you seen the Armour Tool pocket hole system with their colour coded screws?
I’m going to ask this again because I accidentally left this on the wrong account. I really like the idea of pocket holes. However, I have been using the Mascca pocket hole, jig and drill bits and have had a little bit of a problem. I’m hoping somebody can help me with this. I’m spending half my time retightening the deaf collar because it keeps coming loose. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Any suggestions?
Thanks Matt, good tips as usual. I have always heard to not use pocket holes when joining two pieces that the width (assuming the grain runs the length) of the pieces are not:
a) parallel on the same plane (like a table top) or
b) perpendicular (table leg)
The reason being because of expansion and contraction causing splitting. The exception being plywood. Is this true?
Thanks for this. Can I ask which screw you use on poplar, course or fine?
Great video Matt, thanks man.
I don't know if you have the answer for this, but I was wondering if you need a business license to make and sell woodworking projects out of your garage or shop ?
Thanks Chris
By the way I am in California.
You had me at “ Butter Smooth” like your channel brother. All I gotta say is I see that you’re a rigid man and I prefer Milwaukee but I like the Rigid PAC out system. So what I’m getting at is where is your rigid box for all your screws?😂
lol they are on the workbench czcams.com/video/CCnbT7qk9V0/video.html
4:30 Unloosen = tighten
Lol
I like to use a drill and not an impact driver for #3. I can lower the clutch to keep from overdriving.
Good point!
Maybe you could do one in the WEN pocket hole jig I bought one last week. AMAZING construction of it ain’t really had a opportunity to use it yet
I wasn't aware they made one.
the wen pocket hole jig is a rebranded harbor freight jig
@@731Woodworks I actually didn’t either until someone posted asking about it on the FB group. But I like it and it’s definitely a cost efficient option from what’s becoming a fairly trusted up and coming brand.
@@davidcorliss I’m inclined to disagree for the fact that I’ve NEVER bought anything from HarborFreight (except my predator 6500 generator) that felt even remotely structurally sound. I’ll go out on a limb and say it’s better constructed than the Kreg 720. Not a plastic piece on it. But I wouldn’t go throwing out the Kreg accessories
they are Identical just the Wen is painted
I couldn't understand why the screw would come out the other side. I was so frustrated until now. Thank you for all your information. Next time it happens I know to screw in to the meat of the wood.
Drill fast and drive slow! Good idea for a tshirt. 👍
lol yeah it is
That’s what she said!
Kreg should release k5 again. New one is awful 😖
Would be nice if you can compared these to the Castle 110, yeah, pricey but other reviewers like it better. Perhaps one day you can review it
On the Massca m1. When using the portable base. Do you first set the depth of your drill bit.? Before you remove the guide block and add the metal portable base? Also does Massca have a plug cutting bit for the jig like Kreg? Thanks for any information.
I've read that using a corded drill for higher rpm to have cleaner pocket holes
Is there an instance where pocket holes would be better than mortise and tenons/dominos?
a lot of cabinet frames are built with pocket holes much more often than with other methods.
Wait, what is this “2 by” technology, I learned from you long ago that is “tuba”…
lol
LOL "your hobby CNC will pay for itself.." Great joke.
He never said that lmao

Hey Matt you have a scammer spoofing your Instagram account. Even the last giveaway. Only reason I knew it wasn't yours was the follow count and some spelling. Like "Kreator video". Whatever that is. I reported it but it's still there
