  • A young Chef taught me the secrets to this bad boy. Truly adds a powerful layer of flavor to whatever it is you’re cooking. Sub for olive oil in your favorite recipe. Add to lemon juice for quick vinaigrette. Sauté onion and garlic for any soup or stew. Scallions also help to reduce inflammation in the liver. In my experience it’s last a couple weeks in the fridge. I recommend frequently smaller batches 🫶🏻

    nah, u don't wanna get rid of the loose pieces, doesn't matter what it looks like, just wash it thoroughly (as long as it's just beaten up a little and not actually rotting)
    because u just want to extract the flavors, it not looking perfect doesn't matter, u are wasting precious scallion flavor.

    Fun fact, you don’t have to ever use heat to fuse oils with spices and herbs . Heat questions the integrity of the oil

      Truth! That’s why is best to use oil with a high burn temp and to simmer as low as possible. The benefit to heating this is it softens the scallions. But i bet they would soften over a day or so by just sitting in the oil. And honestly it would likely have a stronger flavor. I’ll try this! Thanks for the inspiration!

    Can i try this oil for haír??

    • @EATMEiloveyou

      Anupam Pandit Good question! I recommend using pure coconut oil or olive oil from your hair. You could technically use this but it’s gonna smell like scallions! And I like to leave the scallions in the oil after they’re cooked... in which case you might end up with scallions in your hair too. 😋 Coconut oil or olive oil work great tho! I’ve done it! If you wanted to make a fragrant hair oil, I’d recommend doing this process with something like fresh lavender and coconut oil, straining it at the end. You could even just add essential oils to raw coconut oil. Also fresh aloe does wonder for hair and skin!

    Why is the oil green? Scallion oil is not suppose to be green.

    • @EATMEiloveyou
      @EATMEiloveyou  Před 3 měsíci

      The chlorophyll from the scallions infuses into the oil to make it green
