The back seat under thigh support of the XUV 3oo was decent. The lack of it in the XUV 4OO is one of the reasons I will go ahead with the NEXON!
The under thigh support is poor in the Nexon ev max...still not bad on the Nexon prime EV.
I hope all the ev makers get together and make a single charging station for all kinds of evs. Even 2 wheelers
Mahindra could have done better with the front styling. Those dummy caps for fog lamp housing and the overuse of copper makes the front look gawdy and roughly finished. Also missing are the options to turn off regen, which would help highway cruising and the digital instrument cluster, which would help display many useful telematics needed in an EV. Good things when compared to Nexon EV are the inclusion of 6 airbags. Also, any info on the battery chemistry, LFP or NMC?
This has NMC chemistry sourced from LG Chem, Korea. They have used and older generation of the chemistry which is not as energy efficient as current generation of battery chemistry. Also generally they are quite unforgiving in terms of thermal stress so hope Mahindra has given proper cooling to the battery pack.
I think it's NMC. With LFP they couldn't have achieved that claim range of 456KM.
@@jaychingle2261 but the capacity is only a little less than Nexon EV Max but they offer similar real world range.
They could have continued the lights to fog lamp like in xuv700
Indian consumers have evolved... We actually expect our cars to look modern and stylish...not just functional value for money. Car makers who realise and respect this will win our ❤️s.
Typical Mahindra strategy could be to price it relatively low to start with to encourage bookings, then increase the price by the time delivery happens.
4.2m and not enough rear leg space!
Exactly
Pathetic design especially rear seat portion it looks like sitting in the third row lower seat of some 7 seater cars
Tata Nexon is still the choice for me....what the hell is that infotainment in 2022 man???
3rd class dashboard for an EV for 2023.
Very disappointed with the outdated like dashboard area, and why the hell the rear seat is kept so low?
In my opinion, few things need to be improved: Interior, rear seat height and what's with that too much of bronze treatment?
Rest is okay for the first EV product for M&M.
Maybe the battery below caused the floor to be raised a bit, readucing the effective height of the seat?
I think the reason they have omitted certain features is to keep cost low, reduce the usage or dependency on too many chips hence giving advantage while production, meaning higher production numbers and lower wait times. Its an art to find balance between efficient pricing, production and customer expectation. Hope Mahindra can do better with release of their other models in the EV lineup. For their entry level EV model, I think this is good.
Copper colour is looking horrible outside. Nexon electric blue is trendy..
after so much hype and unveiling all based around Design and technology, the final car looks like a quick afterthought. absolutely disappointed , pathetic interiors and features. better to call it XUV300 EV, which what it is in reality.
If it comes around 15 lacs, then it is a strong competition to nexon ev. Though interior is lacking, I love the exterior, especially the accents of it.
😂 u learned a valuable lesson today that world isn't fair..u should expect to be dissappointed..u want tesla for 15 lakh..that is not gonna happen...
I think the infotainment system, climate control and the meter console are still under testing as it is not a complete model. I hope they will improve it before delivering thier first xuv400.
We're u waiting to buy this?
@@Avi-tq6fd impossible, it would be 20lakh
Good job, Jay Patil!
You never fail to impress me with your reviews. You have the ability to keep the audience engaged. Cheers!
The copper accent makes the car look more like a Havell's ceiling fan than a Car.
🤣😂😜
Really like the decision of Mahindra for going copper, blue is a common color usually seen for full electric or hybrid cars....
I was expecting so much more from Mahindra
Outdated interiors and then they cut out even the vital features
Adjustable regenerative braking would've been nice
Car is awesome and also the range. I would have expected Mahindra to increase the under thigh support and space in the rear seat, I guess that didn't happen. One more is the steering response should have been good on all three modes, rather it being vague.
Well looking at everything including speculated price, I have to say the Nexon EV Max makes more sense here personally. You do get some features there like ventilated seats, electronic parking brake with auto hold function and bigger battery pack there even though motor power and torque output are less than the XUV400. But the most important thing is adjustment for regen regardless of drive modes unlike here which is drive mode dependent. Also Mahindra could have taken the opportunity to give a bigger touch screen (South Africa XUV 300 has a 9 inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay) and a refresh of the centre console with digital dials for the instrument cluster (I acknowledge that Nexon EV has semi digital cluster (both Prime and Max)). A bit disappointed with Mahindra here.
If it comes with 12 lakh, it makes sense.
Agree to all your points. The driver display is much better quality in my Max. M&M I feel has missed out on technology I feel which is very unlike them
is this more powerful than the mg?
Theres a reason why Nexon ev sells like hotcakes!
Yess 400 is a very big disappointment...
Seems like Tata needs to open a school for Mahindra Engineers to teach them how to make good EVs.
3:18 did they keep the transmission arch at the same height? Best thing with Ev for rear passenger is that even the middle person has flat leg room.. if am spending more for an Ev, I expect to get all those Ev basic things and not just a half baked car
Nice and crisp review.
Negatives:-
No Fog Lamps
No Rear Ac
Poor 2nd row leg room and under thigh support
Positives:-
Finally bigger boot space
Competetive Range
Decent Design
Pricing is the key, if they charge premium price, People might move to nexon!
But if mahindra choose aggressive pricing, like they did with xuv 700, you never know!
In starting mahindra will launch it in a agressive price but then after 6 8 months price hiking will be started as we know Mahindra did these strategy with all their cars..
Xuv 700 Scorpio n...
This video very informative best of luck.
Meri 20 saal ke experince mai maine bohot saare gaadi dekhi hai lekin aaj tak maine aisi itni basic feature waali gaadi nahi di. Waah Mahindra Waah
The Gear knob 🔥
Also pls mention what car/brand did they use for benchmark? That's all matters now.
Nice.
Our Chennai mass forever.
Mahindra Mass forever India vehicle.
This guy is cool
I like his style of presentation
Awesome content, I hate that copper treatment from my guts, but it looks good on White though!
mahindra have been late in the EV segment and are using NMC batteries rather than lithium-ion batteries. Lithium-ion batteries are 50% safer than NMC batteries. kudos to Tata Motors for using the lithium Ion technology that tesla and other preminium OEMs uses
You mean LFP right? cause both are LITHIUM-ION batteries but the LFP once are much safer and have more charging cycles when compare to NMC batteries.
@@jaychingle2261 yes
@@jaychingle2261 and they LFP also have better heat dissipation then MNC
I love the copper look !
Excellent work on the exterior and interior. However the back seat looks very congested
Unlike other well-finished newer Mahindra products, this one really looks like an after-thought. One made to take on the Tata. I really thought this would blow the Nexon out of the water, looking at products like the Thar and the XUV700, but I was surprisingly disappointed with this car [atleast based on the review. Can't conclude so soon. But still yeahr].
What happened to kuv 100 ev?? I used to see it in blr (testing)
Honestly, looks more like a "Toy" than a car you can drive on roads everyday.
The design definitely needs some more refining on the Front end. And yes, the interior would have been regarded "cutting edge" in the 90's, but today, it feels dated at best, the whole car looks like an afterthought.
Looks good.
Should do well , if priced agressively
It Looks like from the front = Ashok leyland Dost pickup 😁
It will be priced between Nexon EV and Nexon EV max. It doesn’t look like a 21lakh car considering it’s age old interiors. They would have started with a impressive product. The range should be more considering as the car is more than 4 meters. I believe many goes for Nexon EV or MG ZS EV instead as they are far better than this. It need an facelift within half a year.
Looks dashing!!!
Nicely packaged. Would be a hit priced @ 14-16 lacs
Rear seat space is a disappointment. Looks like Mahindra is in experimenting stage now
Look forward to a comparison with MG ZS EV soon. Hopefully once the prices are available…
Looks chic… Loved the copper accents… Chrome is so boring…
The copper accents look soo good
M&M are doing a good job no doubt about it in the feature and futuristic department but what they should focus on is the aftersales and reliability. People buy maruti and toyota not for their features but the reliability and peace of mind. Day in day out I read so many articles on TeamBHP regarding how there's something wrong with their Xuv700 or how pathetic is the aftersales or even the before sales experience of TATA and Mahindra. It is extremely rare to find a dissatisfied toyota or a maruti customer. I mean there is a reason why the Innova, fortuner, baleno, swift etc sells in volumes and their maintenance is dirt cheap.
Yess u are absolute correct...
There is no need to use copper as it might change colour and very tough to keep it clean, for a 4.2 meter cars leg rest in back seat is very less, they could have given rear AC vents and they could have changed front console design which looks pretty old
I m sure those copper elements will look good on grey colour just like BMW M5 CS
Looks great
It's awesome 🥰🥰🥰wow
It's similar to Ssangyong ?
I want to buy one 😍👌
Loveeee the car ! Simply To the point !! ❤️❤️
Tvs apache rtr 160 vs 180 2022 last models please review two models in autocar india
Good pricing under 15 on road would set the charts on fire
Very Seat with especially with the new logo
Awesome 👍😎
The onli positive thing abt xuv400 is its gear knob.hope they may change the touchscreen and MID display before the sales
It's no where closer to Nexon EV.
I disagree with most people in the comments.....well the interior is underwhelming but the features are quite good specially the range and performance. If the price is competitive then it's going to be a good car
Front grill area lacks design, although alloy wheels look great.
I’m glad they have kept the machine car like and not gone nuts with the tech crap
They should have brought XUV700 style center console into XUV 400. If not that at least a 11 inch touch screen.
If you are paying 18-20 lakhs 7 inch touch screen which is recessed is a absolute bummer.
Can someone please suggest a good car between 15 to 20 lacs (on road- bangalore). I’m soo confused. Appreciate your suggestions.. thank you 😊
Good but not good as nexon ev
Can anyone explain why no fog lamps?
❤️ Mahindra
Har baar ki tarha iss baar bhi I still feel Nexon EV is one of the best EV in the market and XUV 400 ne toh basic feature waali gaadi launch karke prove he kar dia hai.
Its funny how grounds up EV have more space inside compared to ICE cars but converted EV cars have less space than ICE cars. Shows how different EV designs are.
Very critical point. That's why Mahindra's BE cars are going to be mouth watering
This is the problem with ICE Platform based EVs, that's why they need to develop EV only platforms for such vehicles!
I had many expectations from XUV 400 but it seems that it lacks certain features such as a 360 deg. camera, adaptive cruise control, under-thigh support for the back riders, reclined seats, and a larger infotainment system like BYD or KIA, auto boot open etc. . No doubt these will cost a few lakhs more but it would have been worth investing in this vehicle if these were provided. I think BYD Atto 3 is better than this. Just because these Indian manufacturers plan to price their vehicles lesser with lesser features, they are losing the sales market in India.
Front look is like range rover 😍😍
Wow
ESP is car stabilising program where your car detects the road and interprets it with steering controls. Mahindra should learn it, even I know this.
In real world riding condition
Will it deliver around 350+ - rangers ?
mahindra should have given AWD to make it stand out among EV's and to strengthen their brand image as true SUV maker. It's much easier in EV's to power rear wheels than ICE cars.
If M & M keep its Price at 6 to 8 lacs then they could get lot of Advance bookings to get OR cross the BEP.. I guess
We wanted cars in the league of XUV700 Thar but we got the car like Vento, Quanto (after thought vehicles )
I expected more when I saw all the new concepts and both the best selling XUV700 and the Scorpio. I’m pretty much disappointed as the Nexon ev looks and feels a lot better than this
I'm surprised Pratap Bose approved this design
In the launch event pratap bose was also not happy...
I can’t believe Mahindra did that, like really No branded infotainment toh heartbreak tha hi, but uske alawaa NO REAR AC VENTS
Where goes the extra 205mm?
This is even worse than a breakup! I mean expectations definitely hurt bro!
That copper theme
I think Tata nexon EV+ has better features when compared to XUV 400 (variable Regen modes missing). Also the back seat comfort not that great based on the initial review which Tata nexon EV excelled. The opinion differs from person to person we have to wait and see how it performs. Good luck for Mahindra XUV 400.
You guys just Copy Paste just to degrade
Nexon features over xuv 400
1.ventilated seats
2.rear ac vents and charger
3.auto dimming irvm
4.automatic breaking with multiple level regen
4.fog lamps
5.wireless charging
6.air purifier
@@thetrianglescompany2057 degrade by telling facts abd wishing good luck?
I can get away with the styling but Mahindra could have integrated larger touch screen on the centre console. The center console design is a little bit outdated and no wireless charging on 2022/2023 model.. Sad.. Also they could have integrated electronic parking brake instead of manual handbrake, atleast on the top model.
That copper touch felt kinda uncomplete - should have Carried it on alloys a little bit
It's a bit disappointing for me that, I did not feel any unique selling point in this product and performance figures are not exciting...
Why Bronze Highlights?? Atleast Silver Mat Finish wud hav match with all colors
Entering ev market soo late M&M should have anticipated and made some research... Huge disappointment with XUV400
Panoramic Sunroof, 360*camera, Ventilated seat, LED headlamp LED Fog Lamp, C shape Lamp, Electric folded side mirrors, Electric Adjustable seat, Big display screen like 700, Digital meter, Rear AC vent & USB, Manual window curtains is missing.
imagine electric thar with 5 doors 🤩
Copper colour body parts looks great on black color car
Mahindra should focus on rear seat thigh support and comfort
OO, Double O..🎶🎵🎼🎶
Mahindra should watch this video to change the colour of car as seen in the filters used in this video..
Woohoo
Washing Machine on Wheels 🙀🙀
It can never compete or surpaas Tata Nexon EV.😌
Center console instrument style still looks like bolero… so old style . Disappointed ,
Rear AC went tak nahi diye hain batao .. jahan India mein Summer mein temperature 50 degree Celsius pahunch jata
Lag rha mahindra walo ne harabari main launch kar diya hai isko...
😂😂🤣🤣🤣..
Aur kya chaa rhi hai mahindra
Launch pey launch
Dusri taraf xuv 300 ka facelift aarha hai udhar se 700 ka facelift bhi ayega abh yeh xuv 400..
I really can't understand a lot of peoples comment here on design.
Sure it does not look as good as Nexon EV. But the biggest selling point of EVs are not looks nor the interior.
Its the RANGE. If this XUV400 can punch out 240+ kms of range whatever the real conditions may be, thats a huge win for the Xuv400.
I ve Nexon EV n ma family and the real range is between 180-220 kms per full charge. If XUV400 can beat that consistently there is no issue with interior, exterior or any such shit.
Cuz at the end f day. It a relatively affordable BeV is all India wants and MM and Tata I feel r on right track
Btw which Nexon ev do u have
The older one
In the newer one tata improved the range...
