RWD Thar will be a hit as most people who buy the Thar don't even take it offroading.
Yeah I guess people would rather prefer thar in rear wheel drive than front wheel drive.

Since Mahindra is eyeing primarily the City roads with this one, they should've retuned the suspension a bit so that dealing with bumps and potholes could've been better.
This is a VFM option for customers who are not interested in extreme off roading but like the styling and rough roading capability of the Thar. The waiting list will be strong err.. long with this one!😁

Absolute marketing masterpiece with the Thar 1.5 diesel, this is a full on statement car. Didn't get the mileage figures for 1.5 diesel on the video.

Considering the engine is from XUV 300, I'd say it will give you 12-13 kmpl easily.
A good option for someone who wanted a cheaper Thar as a second car. (Not for a serious off-roader). This ticks all the boxes for majority buyers now

I own a Thar Diesel Manual 4WD, and frankly the new Thar RWD with the smaller 1.5L diesel seems like a much more ideal machine for me as per my current usage. I mostly use it within city limits and may have taken it on rough terrains maybe 1-2 times.
However I do not regret buying the 4WD Thar, since I wanted to learn the 4WD driving skills and wanted my own machine for that. I do intend to take it off-road sometime soon.
But my concern is, if I do not engage the 4WD system for a long time, will it get damaged in the long run?
A perfect matchmaking between the affordability (that the new customers who craved for a THAR to be in their budget) and the performance as well the looks that the THAR brings along. A thumbs up from every auto analysts and crowd will definitely make it a big hit .
What’s the fuel efficiency of the 1.5?
Mahindra just hit it out of the park with this version of Thar!
Mahindra should only work on delivering it on time! This car could easily sell around 6k-7k units/month easily. For average enthusiast it's just perfect!

I am a 6.4 inch person will i be able to drive comfortably and have a person sit behind me with same comfort? My current vehicle is a modified MM550 with Pajero turbo engine a metal under full body but a tarpaulin cover to show as per RC. It's a rough ride for me due to huge alloys, based on this I'm asking

A diesel AT 2 wl drive with an on road price below 15 laks would have been a good second car choice or even a daily office goer with rare trips to the hills on weekends

Pretty interesting price point. Very difficult as a primary vehicle for most people. The front seats are a major issue, the thigh support is not great at all! That apart it tickets all the right boxes!
Would definitely compare it to the Jimmy before making a final decision!

I drove it yesterday. The 1.5 diesel one. Not the most sporty or punchy to drive but does the job effortlessly and I feel it wasn’t made for comfort. It should have had a dead pedal and I did feel it throughout the test drive. It will sell good considering it’s macho X factor plus now it’s attractively priced ❤
Best, idea, people love That not four wheel drive thar infact most of the guys I know who buy that four wheel drive actually didn't actually used the four wheel mode in long term they are daily commuters in life. So this one is gonna be a game changer or may be game increaser for THAR.

this one's a true review, not just another maketing puppet like many others who rushed in past few days. an enthusiast decides for himself, you told the truth.
Mahindra always prioritises performance over efficiency. And I love it.
But I think the engine from XUV 300 TGDI or even the one from the standard one would have been a better petrol engine for the RWD. The price would have substantially less as it comes under a small tax bracket.

Am a bit sceptical about how it will fair as given the price point one will rather want to opt for something like a Hyundai Venue or Kia Sonet which has the features, performance and refinement needed for this sub 4 meter segment. But yes it can be a 2nd fun car for any family for a Goa trip or picnics 😊. I would rather spend the extra 2 lacs and go for the 4x4 version petrol

This move from Mahindra may be productive and might pay dividends to Mahindra. But, i personally feel that this is sort of downgrading the thar which has all the characteristics of a real SUV. Removing 4×4 from thar,although thar 4×4 still will be on sale, doesn't seem to be a good proposition.
If at all, i want to buy a real SUV and not the crossovers,i will definitely prefer a car with 4×4 ......

Mahindra claims that Thar 2WD is more lifestyle oriented so if you remove the 4x4 from Thar at least add an arm rest, a fabric roof like other lifestyle cars. And considering the fact that they are going to increase the prices in the future, there is still no grab handles in the Thar.
They could have added MLD.... 🤔

In city thar 4x2 owners will be more comfortable in broken Indian roads and happly get out of flooding roads during the rainy days without any frustration 😂😂 and also get a little extra milage than tha n the 4x4 in the city nd highways.
