  • Dale Earnhardt's first born son Kerry Earnhardt may fly under the radar to most casual race fans familiar with his brother Dale Jr. Born in 1969 to the young Dale and his first wife Latane Brown, Kerry's early life story is not much known about until this video. He actually grew up as Kerry Key, adopted by his mothers new husband Jack with zero knowledge he was adopted or that his father was actually the legendary NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt. We get to ride along with Kerry around his hometown of Enochville and Kannapolis North Carolina to see his childhood homes, schools, former workplaces, and the iconic home of Ralph and Martha Earnhardt with Dale's race shop in the back. Kerry also introduces us to his aunt Cathy and Kaye for some better insight on his early years and their memories growing up with Dale! You can find Kerry at several events a year in downtown Kannapolis including the inaugural Earnhardt Outdoors Day

This video is being published on Dale Earnhardt’s birthday on purpose. His contributions to motorsports and positive impact on the lives of so many should never be forgotten. We are super grateful Kerry was willing to share these stories with us in such transparency. There is one thing for sure Martha Earnhardt, was going to make sure that Kerry knew about Dale Sr. side of the family, going to Kerry's baseball games, and basically being in his life regardless of what the adopted father may or may not of wanted.
I will also add that from my perspective Kerry comes across much more like Dale Sr than Jr does after watching this video. Because you know Kerry running from tiny the game warden is most definitely classic Earnhardt 😂
Even doing the donuts in the Chevelle's in the high school parking lot is yet another classic Earnhardt trait.

You’re going places Mitchell. You’ve developed some really respectable connections to nascar and it’s a pleasure watching your channel grow. My boss sold and delivered Dale Sr a bulldozer back in the late 80’s and he said that Dale was an everyday person, that there was no famous/ego b.s. surrounding him. He gave him a tour of his property and even invited him into his home. My bosses son who is now 40 still has the toy race car hauler that Dale gave to him as a little boy when they delivered the dozer to him. Great content as always guys, keep up the good work!

They said he was the hardest working, toughest driver they ever raced against. I followed Dale's career and the boys right on thru to Dale Jr's retirement after his concussions. We wrecked in the Winston open on Saturday night. Sunday morning I went in to get the car cut up to fix it. I got to the shop and Kerry was already there and had the nose cut off. I said “why are you here” (never did a driver come work in these days on his own stuff). He said I wrecked it I’ll help fix it. Every time he came in the shop he would come speak to me.
