    WOW! I must THANK YOU for a great vid and your knowledge. I purchased a beautiful pre-loved LV Berri in great condition except for many many small, and a few scary, canvas splits along the top edge (along the zipper). Seriously, probably 50 splits, at least, both sides. I tried using super glue and it did zippy. I watched your vid, and knowing I'm not a novice with a soldering iron (making stained glass pieces), I felt confident trying this process on my LV. I ordered an adjustable-temperature wood-burning tool from Amazon (under $30) and my sweet spot for temperature is 250 C. I also ordered the Fieings Edge Kote in DARK BROWN (you mentioned you only had brown and had to blend with black. Amazon now has the dark brown in stock and it's a PERFECT match to the LV canvas!). You are correct in that you must do several small coats with a tiny paint brush, and do several passes with the heat tool. I used two different tips--a tiny, dull point to melt the edge kote into the canvas several times, and then a more flat tool to do the final smooth pass. I'm SOOOOO VERY PLEASED!! I had no idea there would be hope in fixing this girl, but she looks GREAT!!! A million thanks!!!! Wish I could post a pic!

    Just discovered your channel. I love buying preloved LV and cleaning them up. Some of vintage items have cracks, but on the whole, I’m not too bothered, but I would like to give it a try, fixing some of them. Whilst I enjoyed this video, I really wanted to see you fix a crack.

    • @Luxe2Point0
      @Luxe2Point0  Před 2 lety +2

      Thank you! If it’s a small repair, you may not need any heat. In this case, I’m using the tool to actually melt the canvas together and using the edge kote as a filler.

    Thank you for your Video! I have a speedy with a hugh crack on the canvas (not the edge). Can you recommend fiebings dark brown and your technique to fix it or is fiebings Edge kote to shiny when not to use on the edge? Thank you:)

    • @Luxe2Point0
      @Luxe2Point0  Před rokem

      Hi! The technique works best on small cracks and ones that aren’t on a fold. I find after time, due to use, some cracks can reopen because of the stress on the bag.
      It’s not too shiny to use. I use also a Tandy store gloss to finesse the area so it doesn’t look all flat.

    I have a speedy 25 where the canvas on all 4 corners has about a 2-3mm canvas peeled off where I can see fabric underneath, the pipping also got scuffed nearby. What can I do to repair that? Should I use Loctite ‘vinyl fabric and plastic’ flexible glue?

    • @katesteffeck7997
      @katesteffeck7997 Před 5 lety +2

      Stephanie V. That’s a more complex repair given the depth of the rub. I don’t know if glue will help in this situation but I would try alternating layers of the edge flex and heat. May take several layers to build it up.

    • @stephanie.8506
      @stephanie.8506 Před 5 lety +1

      Jean Steffeck thank you! I will try that! Either way I’m sure it’ll help seal a little. It actually already appears like the canvas melted into fabric so that’s good it’s not lifted

      Luxe 2Point0 Should I use the glue too?

    • @Luxe2Point0
      @Luxe2Point0  Před 4 lety +2

    Great video! So informative! I just purchased the Eco Flo Edgeflex in white to fill in the cracks and the gaps where the edge (glazing) is on the the leather handles and the mouth (opening) of my black LV Suhali bag. The bag is black but the glazing is white. After the Eco Flo has dried, do you recommend that I use the heating tool to swipe over the areas I patched or is it not necessary? After it is all patched up and dried I was thinking of going over the entire glazing areas with just a light sandpaper and then putting another very light coating of white leather paint on top (or perhaps 1 last coat of the Eco Flo on top) in order to uniform the new and old white glazing. What do you suggest? Is a heating tool needed or recommended for this project? Do I use white leather paint as the last coat or should I use the Eco Flo to uniform it all? Thank you in advance!🤗😍😀

On newer models, you will note that LV added a vachetta trim to help avoid that issue. There has been more and more criticism of the brand's quality but it doesn't seem to have negatively impacted its popularity.
