      @@b.d.a.8719 You are in luck, I am Indian, have never been to the US, but I think that China should not threaten Taiwan and recognise it's right to rule itself. Now granted India and China don't exactly get along and we have had long history of border conflicts and war such as the Sino-Indian war, China has supported and funded insurgent groups within India and has also been engaging on the political front against India such as using its veto powers to block India's attempts for permanent membership in the UNSC. So maybe that has clouded my opinions towards the Chinese, but be that as it may, that is how I feel about the situation. Sure we can criticize the US for their wrongs but that does not mean that it should be used to deflect the wrongs that China has committed also.

    • @Ponen77
      @Ponen77 Před 2 lety +14

      @@b.d.a.8719 Nepal and Bhutan do feature in our disputes but those are fairly common knowledge, we have also had issues related to Arunachal Pradesh, Askai Chin over in Kashmir and of course also issues relating to granting the Dalai Lama and other Tibetans being granted asylum in India. Have in-laws who are Tibetan, and while they would love to see Tibet freed, the sad fact is China is too big, brash and powerful a nation to take head on, so for now they live in exile. Then there is the issue in the South China Seas and Indo-ASEAN relations that may help to serve as a combined bulwark against China in that region.
      Now you said " Regardless, unlike China, India is a very fractured government and when a state, Kerala, elects a communist party, the Indian central government comes down on them hard like a sack of bricks. Arresting and imprisoning more protestors than even the Chinese did in Hong Kong." Now I do know there have been arrests of CPI members but to say that it was just due them being communists I find highly doubtful, do you have a link to that statistic? I would like to see it for myself. Also the Communist party of India has been around for a long time and they have had taken leadership in many other states in India not just in Kerala, for example since I am from the North east of India I am going to mention Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee chief minister of West Bengal from 2000-2011 and Manik Sarkar who was the chief minster of Tripura from 1998-2018. Currently in Tamilnadu we have the Secular Progressive Alliance, which is an alliance that also includes the Communist Party of India(CPI) and Communist Party of India -Marxist(CPI-M) under the leadership of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin Now political rivalries and feuds are common in India so a lot of times when parties that are not aligned with the center come to power in a particular state, there will of course be tension and conflicts. Now granted the we do have a lot of different political groups in India and they do get fractured by infighting, but I do not agree with your statement that "So India goes against its own democratic rules and constitution if a China friendly government is elected anywhere in the country."
      You said "I'm not pointing at you but honestly I'm tired of people only caring about democracy when it's politically convenient and forgetting it when it isn't." well the problem is the way you went about it, it falls into the whataboutism category, its not conducive to a healthy conversation and comes off as merely trying to deflect criticism by turning the topic around.
      Also I just realized that you seem to have made the mistake of assuming that the op is American, these days yt and social media is quite well represented by people of many nationalities and I do hope people would automatically stop assuming that we are all white and American. I have had a few hilarious conversations where the person on the other side would say something along the line of " you are white, what would you know about racism?" and then when I enlighten them on my race nationality and tribal group they generally stop responding and usually delete their whole conversation thread.

    • @Ponen77
      @Ponen77 Před 2 lety +10

      @@b.d.a.8719 Ahhh there you go, you make some big assumptive mistakes again. Firstly yes it is true that Tibet was a medieval theocracy run by a priest king before Chinas invasion/seizure, and now has relatively advanced infrastructure and a decent gdp. But from that one cannot infer that Tibet would have remained a theocracy without Chinese intervention either, for example look at Bhutan, Sikkim or Nepal, these neighboring nations also, for various reasons, became more secular over time. Development would also have come more organically and having advanced infrastructure and a better gdp on paper does not mean that a country and its people are better off. Sure for those people that toe the Chinese party line in Tibet can live pretty comfortably but what about political and religious prisoners that are held without any chance of freedom? For a famous example I give you the abduction of Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, whom the Dalai Lama appointed as the 11th Panchen Lama, he was 6 when the Chinese abducted him and his entire family and installed Gyaincain Norbu as a proxy. Gedhun Choekyi Nyima and his family have basically disappeared and much speculation abounds as to his whereabouts and condition. We should also not forget the plight of those living in exile. For a guy so vocal about suppression of Communists in India you seem to be oblivious to the plight of Tibetans. Also comparing Latin American/ South American infrastructure and gdp doesn't say much, many South American countries are small and relatively poor and looking up the gdps of South American countries it looks like the gdp of Tibet is in the middle and not as you say "The GDP of tibet is higher than the majority of South America."
      Yes India has gone after communism in its past and present, but as I mentioned earlier it has gone after other political parties just as equally. And yes you were overzealous, to the point that you seem to have made up some lies? or maybe you do have a study/report/statistic that shows that as you say "Arresting and imprisoning more protestors than even the Chinese did in Hong Kong." If you do have it please send me a link so I can check it out. If not then that would reflect badly on you. I must also say that nothing happens in a vacuum, for example while there was/is a level of suppression of the Communists in India, have you looked into why it occurs? While we can be critical of Indian heavy-handedness in many cases Communists have been arrested due to violence, crimes or terrorist attacks carried out by them. In the 60's there was a series of divisions and splits amongst the CPI(M)Communist Party of India (Marxist), many of these split factions began carrying out terrorist attacks mostly in the Chhattisgarh regions, what's known as the Red belt/corridor. I have had many friends and family in the Nagaland Police Indian Reserve Battalions serve in Chhattisgarh. Its a huge are, lawless in many places, with insurgents carrying out constant ambushes and planting IED's. One of my friends in the CRPF Cobra unit carried out many operations and during his last tour got caught in an IED blast, almost died, the doctor pulled out a huge stone lodged in his belly and took months of therapy and grafting to recover. I say have a look at the history of Naxalites in India. You will get a broader understanding of the situation.
      Once again its whataboutism because we are talking about Taiwan here, we are not talking about Puerto Rico and Hawaii. Its not really relevant because it just maintains the status quo and excuses the wrongs committed by the Chinese on the grounds of "but what about them" or "they did it first". Its just a means of deflecting criticism. You ask " How is Puerto Rican and Hawaiian independence not relevant in this conversation? Is one society's independence less relevant than another?" and I would like to highlight your second question, Is one society's independence less relevant than another? what do you think? I suspect both of us agree that, one society's independence IS NOT less relevant than another. and so the independence of Taiwan should not predicated by the status of Puerto Rico or Hawaii or say even Tibet. Each case should be judged on its own merit.
      Again you make an assumptive error, if you know the history of the English language then you will soon realize that automatically assuming that one is American due to speaking/writing good English, is a logical error. The better way to go about it would be to look at England and her historic colonies around the world where English is primarily or majorly used, and surmise that I am possibly from one of those nations but even then that is rife with problems since especially in this day and age of easy cross border travel its become very difficult to tell ones nationality from ones command of a specific language . For example here in India English is one of the official languages and hence we have a high number of people proficient in it.
      Yes I am from Nagaland, and Christian too though that's an easier guess due to being a Christian majority state. We still do have a smattering of folks that still adhere to the older animist beliefs, especially if you go into the interior regions. Our relationship with China is interesting, in the early days of the Naga Insurgency, many Nagas travelled into China and were given aid, weapons and training and sent back, for China fostering instability in the region and keeping India occupied with various insurgencies was and is a viable strategy and for various North Eastern groups whether it was Chinese or Pakistani supplies it didnt matter as long as they got them. Though our insurgent factions style them as socialists,National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN), thankfully overall we haven't taken to communist/socialist ideology , generally I think due to our Tribal and clan based structures it is generally abhorrent to us. We did get a brush with it in the 80's and 90's, there was a time many intellectuals and learned men were rounded up and executed by the insurgents, similar in fashion to those that occurred in other places. My aunt recalls her father in laws tale, at that time he was a village school teacher, the insurgents came and rounded up the teachers and took them away, they were tortured and many were beheaded. When his time came he was led away up the mountains and made to wait on a spot with other prisoners, he could see they were leading them one by one to a spot where they were beheading them. Some bodies would thrash about at the moment of death like a headless chicken. That traumatized him, anyway while waiting his guard turned out to be a former student, he pleaded to be released, but the student said if he did that he would be killed instead. Finally after much talk the former student told him that while he wont untie his hands, he would do nothing if he were to make a run for it. So my aunts father in law made a dash down the steep mountain, he sustained many cuts, bruises and possibly some fractures but he ran, never looking back. Our people have had a difficult relationship with India, but I suspect we would have had a worse time with the Chinese.

    Cena's willingness to completely immerse himself in another culture solely for the benefit of long-term profits is not so much a sign of his personal greed so much as it is an extension of Vince McMahon's. Money never mattered as much to Cena as loyalty. Cena was THE guy in the WWE, not just in the ring but outside of it too.
    If the WWE was a mob and Vince was its Godfather, John Cena would be the guy willing to die just on the boss's say so.
    Personally, I think that's actually a GOOD trait to have and it just makes him a better guy to what I've already seen is a pretty damn decent human being, but even a great character quality like loyalty can be a dangerous thing when it is owed to those with ulterior motives..

    Actually, China is one of the "green" countries, if compared with the the US or Europe. They invest much more money per person in green energy than most western countries. And this despite the fac that China is not as rich as the west.
    Its just that media prefers to not use the 'per person' statistics.
    It doesn't necessarily has to do with the fact, that china is hated. The reason is just that it would be bad publicity for western politicians, if the big enemy china is actually better than the us.

      Another problem is, that China developed very fast. We shouldn't forget that a few decades ago, they were still on the same level we were a hundred years ago. This results in many problems, like having out of date cars that produce high emissions (mostly sold by the west)
      But in modern days they overall produce much more green energy (percentage based) and also invest in much more green energy than most western countries.

    And ppl in chat saying the Chinese name is just "panther" in Chinese which is just wrong, just use google translate before u trying to talk about a language u don't even speak lol

      The West can never tell anything in Chinese apart and will just keep ranting as long as it's Chinese. I was watching a streamer with a Taiwanese audience and then an English speaker came in and said he likes Taiwan and hates China and that the streamer is great.
      He doesn't know that the streamer is from China and the chat is mainly Taiwanese, it's even written in the channel description. The West cannot even fathom that Taiwan and China always watch each other's media and play each other's games, it's not like they hate each other so much they can't even exist together.

    The problem with Reva is that her character is poorly written, poorly acted, is focused on more than any other character, and is stupid yet 5head at the same time. Stupid because of all of the ways she screws up the missions by her targets escape, and smart because her plans are always the ones that work. She also somehow knew Obi-Wan was going to successfully infiltrate the water base and rescue Leia with absolutely no signs. The problem is not because she is black, nor because she is a woman. The problem is the writing. Lucasfilm has absolutely no idea how to write a strong female character despite their best efforts.

      The majority of the criticism was of the writing and the character itself. A small portion of it was rascist attacks against the actress herself which is never okay. The small portion of bad faith criticism had been highlighted and the actual criticism has been ignored by those covering this.

      I think this is being blown out of proportions. The fast franchise has been built up over a a decade of hard work to get to where it is, and as the new guy, it would be even worse if he lets the entire thing sink, not only bringing himself down, but also bringing down all his co-stars and production crew who had absolutely nothing to do with it, just because of his pride. He was given a chance to be a face of the franchise going forward, and especially in an unprecedented time, like during the pandemic. It would not be right of him to take that trust and just throw it and all his friends under the bus. Plus, unlike more outspoken people in the west, he never insulted his home country. He has nothing but love for the US, and he never denied that Taiwan was a country either. He just apologized if anyone was upset over what he said. I don’t get how people can think that’s the worse thing in the world, like he renounced his US citizenship and personally joined the CCP. Why are we acting like it’s a bad thing to like and appreciate other people’s cultures? You can do that without liking their government.

We want a better life we want to provide, so we say and do the right things to try and make that happen. I just found it weird someone would give up their rights to do that, but a lot of us do that every day to try and make a living.
