Finally Asmon speaks on a topic he’s 100 percent an expert on!
Sadly he doesn’t get the massive drop in standards for McDonalds food in USA versus EU.. It’s big.
99% Wendy’s would be 💯
The guy's passionate about fast food for real
I remember Burger King whoppers in the 90’s was great, huge and .99 cents
The other topics is just 69% sadly
Asmongold realizing most McDs use kiosks these days except where he lives is actual gold.
For real lol, I'm like 150 east of Austin and all McDonalds I've been to have kiosk. Even the ones that are part of gas stations.
we have this shit since 2016 or so lmao idont know where his mcdonald is
So funny. Where the hell is he at? East palistine ohio?
As a UK McDonald's enjoyer I'm surprised not every McDonald's has ordering kiosks, we have them in every McDonald's even ones in small towns
Australia has them too. still remember finding ways to buy a dozen cheeseburgers for the price of a bun lmfao
In the US its cheaper to pay some cashier kid, instead of placing a 1400$ kiosk
Mcdonalds requires a renovation every 10 years, so operators choose to install them at thst point. All new stores automatically get them.
Latvia has them in every McDonalnd's :D and our country is a kinda poor
Yea even the tiny McDonald's here in my home town in Germany has several of those ordering kiosks and this place has maybe 40-50 seats.
McDonalds needs to bring back the snack wraps. Those were fire.
TRUE
So true
Still have em in AU
Only time I ever like McDonald's
Still have them in Canada
"People mistake that we are in the hamburger business. We're not. We are in the Real Estate Business" - Ray Kroc and Harry J Sonneborn, CEO/Founder and CFO of McDonalds.
Ray Kroc is not the founder of mcdonalds
@@Carnagex11 Who cares about the original founders. McDonalds isn't what it is without Kroc.
@@Andrew-rd9zq true but kroc is the not the founder, I am just here stating a fact
So true about the meat. They definitely upgraded for the new quarter pounders. Their right on the cusp of greatness but just not there yet.
Have noticed when I get mcdonalds the meat on some of the burgers has been upgraded a good bit, shit if you go back far enough you can see a massive difference in all the meats... the nuggets when I was a kid in the 90s were some of the most disgusting things known to man and each one had a 50% chance of biting into a marble sized piece of gristle... Today theyre atleast kind of edible.
@@ryanw7196 nuggets still gross. The tenders are good but they stopped selling it
@@ryanw7196 My dad said when they came out they tasted like rubber lol
@@Oliver-bn7jt they looked like rubber lol
@@Ultrajamz ohh yes, they are very not good, just edible compared to the 1990s horror fests whose insides looked like the world from the game Scorn.
Just to say, the banner with the colonel was colab game promotion with CrossFire, a CS inspired game ran by Tencent. And McDonald snacks (apple pie, taro pie, ice creams) are so popular they have all got their own kiosks plus even mini-stores inside larger supermarkets/out on the street, so yes, for the people asking, we always have working ice cream machines.
In Shanghai McDonalds was kinda lit. It had the equivalent of Uber Eats at the time where it would be delivered to the apartment i was at which at the time was a mind blowing thing for me. The food was about on par with it is here at home, but the restaurant was much cleaner than your average fast food place. I also saw touch pad kiosks to order your food, and had never seem this at any of my local ones. They even had hot dogs on the menu which made me chuckle. Good times
God bless Chinese delivery guys
They work for shit wages it's not that mind blowing to have it delivered.
@@cattysplat Shenzhen is way more ahead than Shanghai though.
@@cattysplat for sure, I definitely enjoyed my time there. I would go back given the chance, but chances are slim 🤷♂️
Its true Shenzhen is a lot more futuristic than Shanghai, I highly regret not moving to Shenzhen when I had the chance years ago, they had the policy of financing oversea Chinese graduates to move back and buy an apartment, if I did I would be a multi millionaire now :(
I still remember getting my first McDonald meal ever in China when I was around 3 or 4. My parents ordered a Filet-O-Fish and I was stunned by how tasty it was. 20 years later here I am still enjoying Filet-O-Fish every time I go to a McDonald.
It's so good and so bad for you. It's basically a fried oil soaked fish sponge.
@@jkfang nah, compared to other fish sandwiches I've ate at other fast food places Filet-O-Fish still takes the cake. It's neither too greasy nor smushy.
filet o fish is F tier
Yes, you understand.
I went to the Philippines and McDonalds there sells Mcspaghetti because the most popular fast food there (Jolibee) sells a ton of spaghetti and chicken along with burgers and fries. Also Burger King there had a 4 cheese whopper I had never seen before in the US. Looked good, like a whopper melt.
We’ve had those touch menu things for years in Australia. McDonalds is very popular here and they trial all new things like that on us cause we are a big/small enough population to see what works well
I don't frequent fast food joints but the couple times I've had the McDonald's coffee...for a buck you really can't beat it. You can luck out and find some good convenience/gas station stores for cheap. In Canada it's basically just Timmies. Dropping $6+ on starbuck's burnt coffee is just silly. Make your own when you can of course.
Thats because its not real coffee. Its water mix with whatever is in the sitdown toilets in the bathrooms.
The food dropping thing happens everywhere but it happens very rarely in most cases. It's on you if you really want to be ordering for delivery every day instead of cooking at home you're just increasing your chances of it landing on you.
Man I'm happy that Flippy loves his job
7:15 All of the McDonalds in my ~250,000 people metro area in northern Illinois have the kiosks. I like it because I can customize without pressure and pull in deals from the app. You can also order through the app and use assigned numbers at tables to even avoid the kiosks all together. It might be because Illinois is their headquarters that we have the more advanced stuff? Not sure. One negative I've found lately is that self serve drink machines are hit or miss. My closest one totally took it out. And also getting unsweetened iced tea self serve is only at one in my area consistently. Sucks because their tea is one of the better fast food ones.
what even better than ordering at those machines is just ordering online and then grab it once you arrive, they start making your order once your clos in proximity to the mcdonalds so you have even less waiting time
the trick to getting a good tasting McDonald's burger is to either tell them to make it "freshly made" or what I do is order with pickles removed... ordering a custom burger means they cook and fry it fresh rather than reheating an old patty... the difference in taste is night and day imo
False. they have meat case that stores cooked meat for 20-30 minutes and Fresh™️ is relative
@@goldfishi5776 fresh _is_ relative, the difference in taste is undeniable, you want 30 minute old refried meat fine, I don't and have done this every week for years
Just because you request no pickles doesn't mean they cook you a fresh patty. Just means you won't get a burger that's been sitting in the heater box and the bun is hard as a rock.
@@cattysplat haha yes
@@cattysplat fair enough, it's easy for me in Toronto cuz I use kiosks exclusively and table service
It's actually ridiculous how many McDonald's are in Germany.
Obviously there's a bunch of them in bigger cities like Berlin, Stuttgart or Frankfurt, but even in three relatively small cities/towns where I went to school and later university, we had 1 and sometimes even 2 in walking distance which is insane tbh.
same in Sweden. They are everywhere.
I live in China and there are some US chains, Mcdonalds, BK, KFC and Dickos. McDonalds has adapted very well to the local flavors, same as KFC probably that is why they are so well accepted. BK on the other hand, remained more "original" and they are struggling, my favorite burgers were from there though.
KFC is doing well, has a lot of local partneships like the one with the mobile game, but they do other stuff too.
As a foreigner in China, the local food is awesome, but from time to time my body craves some fast food haha
@@cattysplat gravy sounds so good...
Most of the Mc Donald's in NYC have these kiosks as well, even in the hood areas the McDonald's stores are pretty upgraded
Keep hearing about the size of the drinks, in Spain all the chains I have been to, except of McDonals, have the soda fountains outside, so you can refill as much as you want whatever drink you want with no price increase. The menu can be 3€ and you still get unlimited drink.
The touch screen order screen seem fairly common in south Africa, we've had them for at least 5 years now from when I was in university
They really do adapt to the country/location. McDonalds in Hawaii had this interest coconut desert things while I've only ever seen applepie ones on the mainland. Also, I had McDonalds in Florence, Italy and they had pizza pockets. I ended up getting a big mac and a BEER! Their McFlurry was also different. Not the powered milk ice cream, but tasted more like real ice cream. I think whenever I am in a country if they have a McDonalds, I'm trying it at least once to see the different menus! Also, while traveling KFC was everywhere. I'm surprised because I think they kind of suck.
Anyone who hasn’t tried McDonald’s in an Asian country is **seriously** missing out. It is night and day compared to the US
Indeed. Honestly, all American fast food is superior in Asia. Taiwanese KFC is heavenly good.
More like, it probably better than what the US have, but still worse than what we usually have, and more expensive lol
Same goes for the Asian 7-11, the American version is garbage tier
KFC difference is bigger
@@drunkfarmer5106 they probably just follow instructions and dont under cook crap and keep fresh oil
They have those screen based menus all over Canada as well
In Antwerp - Belgium we have a McDonald's with 2 ddrive-through lines.
I don't go there much these days but my go to was always the chicken selects drowned in their chipotle bbq sauce. Wish they would bring them back.
Yh had those screens in the UK for a decade in London. You can make a crazy custom big mac
The best content would be if Asmon went to Japan and did a fast food chain testing streams. There's shitton one chains over there and those that are pretty known world wide have very unique menu that'a available only in Japan. Obviously He wouldn't go alone; streams could be amazing
9:50 real-estate has been super inflated here, to the point that an 120m2 apartment costs close to a 1m usd in the capital.
6:25 pizza hut in China is quite different from what you know. It is more of a restaurant... Long queues on most days.
We have the Kiosk things here aswell, i never use them tho, i order through the App on my Phone on my way to McDonalds, that way the food is usually ready by the time i walk in.
The McDonalds that I go to as well even with 2 lanes still takes them forever, also the 2nd lane is closed at night.
I like all these regional specialties they serve in McDonalds across the world. Japan and China have some of my favourite burgers and ice creams! I heard they got rid of the Ebi (Shrimp) burgers in Japan and it makes me so sad. ;-; They're so tasty.
they still have ebi filet unless you're talking about something else
They serve regional stuff in Europe, too. In Romania they'd serve "little ones" basically ground meat in the form of turd and grilled served with mustard and garlic. delicious.
Asmon describing the futuristic mcdo he went like, it's every normal mcdo in Québec city lol
In france we have signature burgers that are way more high end (also McDonalds is not cheap here, you're paying like 10-15€ to eat, they're is no dollar menu, the cheapest you can get is a 5€ menu that doesn't fill you)
@@PastPositive you underestimate how many burgers neckbeards eat
I think mcdicks has a better market in the US due to regulations. I like how mcdonalds is low quality but won't get you sick, so its a good option for people who need to get by or if you want a cheap meal. Regulating the quality more will make poor people unable to afford it so theres def a trade off here.
There is a place near me that has a McDonald's inside a walmart, another McDonald's in the same shopping center as the walmart and another McDonald's across the street from that shopping center.
The 16:30 talk about ordering from the touchscreen tablet thing was funny because we even have those here in SEA, how the hell does Austin not have those? Or does Asmon live in the outskirts of Austin or something.
I literally just went to KFC today for the first time in years and let me tell you their chicken strips are on a whole other level plus the strip combo comes with some incredible battered fries and a biscuit. Haven't had a meal this good in a very long time
Sorry bro, thats not real chicken anymore
Amazing what some corporate QC and some roach spray will do to improve a restaurant.
well youre just fuckin wrong it sucks
I've come to discover my favorite fast food chicken is actually Church's spicy chicken. But ONLY the spicy. Throw the mild in the trash. Church's spicy chicken, the biscuits, and the jalapeno bombers now THAT'S a meal 😂
In South Korea, they literally have extra crispy chicken skin as a side item at KFC, it’s LIT over here
As somebody that's worked at wendys- I've always considered the chili to be a "f around and find out"
I can't 100% tell you what's ours, I've made it a million times but outside of the prepackaging- our manager would have us re-dice salads that turned brown in the cooler and whatever sat on the fryers side line- cut up(patties/chicken) and put in so we didn't waste anything. It's a massive pot next to the register so the customers would think it's been there sizzling an hour max at a time, but we were adding things from the day before as early as 5 am- I've never seen it get dumped-only refilled
by packaging I mean the only thing i've ever seen/added myself were dried beans. The rest of the ingredients were things that we couldn't sell
I'm in an average part of south Carolina. Our McDonald's has 4 or 5 kiosks for people to order at
I bought a mcchicken at McDonald's in Italy and it was about 7 us dollars. At that time mcchickens were only a dollar here. But the mcchicken there was very good. More like a premium chicken sandwich here.
The Ice Cream / McFlurry Machines are broken here in the UK too so I'm sure that's a universal issue with McDonalds. It's pretty much a staple at this point
It got to be such an issue that McDonald's got sued for defamation and lost. Now they just don't blame the company that makes em.
13:55 New Zealand has the Kiwi Burger. It includes a whole fried egg and three slices of beetroot.
Malaysia Mcdonalds had nasi lemak. We also have seasonal menus (for Chinese New Year, Hari Raya and Deepavali).
In WA we have electronic kiosks at tacobell and MC its pretty great
fun fact i learned today: modern KFC is not 100% accurate to the colonel's recipe, specially the gravy, to the point the colonel was so pissed it about he open another restaurant at 75 years of age, after the franchise was resold. That restaurant still exist and its the only place to get the colonel autentic chicken and it called the caludia sanders dinner house, named after his wife.
I remember the gravy being less sour than the current one.
In australia we have the option of angus beef patties and they slap on the regular ones!
I agree most mcdonalds burgers suck but when i drive an hour out to a smaller town where theres like one mcdonalds idk what they do there but their burgers are twice the size and taste better along with their fountain drinks. Maybe its because its one of those Circle k/Mcdonalds 2 in 1's lol
Here in the philippines the serve spaghetti and fried chicken and rice at. The burgers are rarely ordered.
I stopped eating there much since the quality went down. Certain stores are better than others, usually the corporate ones, but overall, the quality is worse because they dont throw the food out when they should and remake it because its alot of extra work. Used to work at both a corporate and franchise one and the experience was completely different. Franchises slack off. Corporate can maintain a 90 sec drivethru time at lunch.
To be fair the quality of McDonalds is better in Europe since they need to conform to the local food standards. That being said, those percentages seem to be quite high. Its only good if you are high/ drunk and have the munchies at 4 am. Its very hard to get anything else to eat at this time in most places in Europe.
@@HQbaracuda i guess depends on the place
You see him, and it’s like… “there it is. *Thats chicken* “
3:12 I HAD THAT BUCKET! I was so confused when I was given a BUCKET of soda.
2:13 That the BBC filter
Hey Asmon we even have mac d in Denmark, Norway and Sweden as well
I hear the Dark Knight is doing a mcdonalds/china collab. Bat Burgers.
I don't know about the ice cream machines in China but whenever I order at McDonald's here in Germany using the phone app, it tells me the McFlurry's currently unavailable so I guess they're always broken here at least x'D
That's not indicative of the machine, they could be out of another part of that item such as the topping, spoon or cup.
@@bedinor that is true but what's more likely? That they don't have some ingredients in stock, ever, for months upon months, and don't ever restock that. Or that something is defective and can't be repaired that easily because of some weird company policy.
This explains the reason why McDonalds in other countries tend to be much better. The franchise models encourages stores operate competitively locally. A Big Mac in Argentina is literally life changing.
How good your food is %100 on crew. It's beef not some mystery meat but like cooking anything you need a guy who's aware of the seasonings and equipment to get the best possible product and if the guy is lacking so will be the food. It's easy to tell what's going on because feed back is feely given. Also this extends beyond one guy because you want your equipment running flawlessly and to be clean as f and you need other people making shit right or there's no point anyway because no one wants it anyway otherwise.
7:28 The billboard has an ad for wigs on it. Coincidence?
What, they don't have the electronic kiosks in all the branches in the US?
if you order the quarter pounder and make it double patty and eat it while its hot and steaming its gonna taste different also add mayo to it
Woah I was planning a Sneaky Rons run when this one popped up.
"dont you guys have phones?" omg, lol i lost it
Yeah, we eat McDonald's in Europe too, but out portions are like less than a 3rd of the size when it comes to drinks and sugary foods lmao.
mc donalds has been popular in chinese for a long ass time. My wife grew up there and told me they used to do parties at mc donalds in the 90s
Everybody had parties at McDonald’s in the 90s, along with Pizza Hut and everywhere else, back when they were actual restaurants
@Patrick Condon yeah true but in China it's considered upscale and expensive to do it at McDonald's. She said only the rich parents could afford it and you were a rich kid if you had a party at McDonalds there. I agree they were actual restaurants, just interesting how they branded themselves as upscale in China and here they were good fast food back then. I hope in general our food quality goes up. Society eats so poorly these days
@@hawks3109 speaking of all this makes me a bit nostalgic for the 80s/90s versions of them lol. I remember Wendy’s being faaaaaaaaancy when i went there for a school mates birthday
@@hawks3109 WHAT? McDonald's is considred expensive in China? Wtf do they eat when they want to eat something "cheap" ??
@@nimmha6708 yeah I know lol I thought the same thing. Apparently it's because McDonald's rebranded in china and has better quality food there. Their menu doesn't even have much in common with the menu here in America. It's still burgers, but they're completely different than the ones here
11:35 I have never seen a drive-thru here.
The image of a “A bucket of Pepsi” in my mind is hilarious
Every mcdonalds where i live(Calgary, AB) has a kiosk so you can order a head of tine
The guy with glasses english is so good he sounds voiced over lmao.
True
Living in the West of Scotland, this country must be junk food heaven for suppliers like MCD's and the like- there is a huge appetite for crap food in Scotland and every single fast food joint is queued out every time i drive past.. for such a small country there's a huge waistline just waiting to develop.
ice-cream machine in HK is usually fine, but the mcflurry machine have a chance to be failing, just not always
But as a Chinese, which pissed me off is that McDonlad in China canceled the vanilla and strawberry milkshake! Imagine that you once had a favorite drink but somehow, suddenly, it was canceled and wouldn't appear anymore. I will never forgive them.
They disappeared like facebook and google!
Austin to Fort Worth is not 4 hours. It's around 3 or 2 hrs 45 min if you are fast driver. I have lived in Austin and had family in fort worth so made that drive a numerous of times. I say go Asmongold!
PS: The MCD's is technically a little outside of Fort worth, a place for Kkona called "White Settlement Tx" 😋
The rodeo burger from burger King was the best fastfood value item ever.
Jack in the box munchie meal used to be $6. That was best value hands down. Specialty sandwich, tacos, half curly-regular fries, medium drink. 6 bucks 🤯
Top tier take I was so happy when they made that shit permanent
Whenever my dad comes visits me in America he's like "it's like I travelled back in time 20 years". He looks at the terminal at the airport and just start laughing like what is this museum looking computer.
Asmond should start fast food reviews like daym drops lol
Lock-Down policy actually speedup delivery and online system, this also happen in Thailand where concept of QR payment is alien pre-covid but now it everywhere and the shop without one is bound to loss.
They need to adapt in other to survive after all.
I always thought the singers in the song, "Barbie Girl" were Colonel Sanders and Wendy
Our McDonald's has had a double drive thru for years. They suck though and have the same employees. So she answers one drive thru, then alternates to the other and it actually just takes longer. Most of the time I go they have one of the two blocked off.
Stores quality varies wildly. In the inner cities its usually awful. Theyll keep the meat for 3 or 4 hours.
The corporate ones are alot better. Some actually use the 20-30 min timers and make sure the food is fresh. It makes a HUGE difference when its done right.
But it all depends on how strict the supervisor is or can afford to be.
The angus deluxe burger was bomb af
the apple pies are the only thing I get at McDonald's
18:30 he’s not a coffee guy he’s and adderall kinda guy
My town is super small and I life in Missouri, and we also have kiosks at McDonald's lol
Icecream machine is NEVER broken here in Shanghai.
McDonalds in my area are understaffed/incompetent. Service takes far too long and orders are commonly wrong.
Only go there for the Filet and fries. Ramly Burger still my fav. though. xD
Singapore's Macs using self service too. staff serve to table.
I haven’t gone 24 hours without coffee since 2005
I always eat chicken when I order food outside, I rarely eat red meat unless it is a steak house.
In Sweden it isn't the the icecream machine that's broken it's the milkshake machine that's always broken!
This is just a meme here. Machines work fine.
Asmon should look at Japanese McDonald menu, they have exclusive stuff there that actually looks way better than the one here in the U.S.
ah... not in Florida or Georgia. The food is served in 10min minimum. I once had to wait 25 min for the food and there was nobody in line but me.
i like pizzahut here in sweden couse its like the only fast food resturant that has free refills
Those kiosk McDonald’s are all over the east coast because min wage is 15 dollars and it’s cheaper to run an iPad
Kiosks have been required for a while. In fact, when kiosks are used in tandem with a cashier they require more staff as more food needs to be prepared and delivered.
Would love to see Asmon try the spicy fried chicken of Jollibee.
Asmon taking a trip to China will produce so much free content, just imagine
Double cheese burger plain w/ fries are the only two S tier items. Change my mind.
