The only reason I can see it’s not feasible is that needing them on a weekend, he’d need to pay them to be there.

Hi Brian, I've been a fan for over a decade now and I'm glad to see you still enjoy doing what you're doing. I think the Kick Off needs some fresh air, I hope this new format works out! As a viewer I'd like to see more discussion topics and more frequently (2-4 per week?) And in particular I enjoy getting your opinion on football in general so I'd appreciate more videos like this, old school sitting in front of a camera and saying it like it is. Keep it up mate and keep evolving!
As a Leicester fan, I hope Barnes ends up being a success for you. He's a great player and was the one I was most sad to lose in the summer, even above Maddison and Tielemans.

Your assessment of the game is spot on Brian, but your reaction is OTT. As a lifelong Toon fan I totally share your frustrations but this is a classic case of giving it another 24hrs before posting a reaction video.
His reaction isn't over the top though, look at the results and performances this season, they are unacceptable!
His Bournemouth team regularly shipped 60 plus goals a season, now he's doing it to us!
He did well initially after the take over but has reached his shelf life at Newcastle, there's nothing personal, it is just one of those things.
This season was Howe's acid test to which he hasn't been up to it when stepped up in level which is a shame but you cannot make him any better.

Howe will still start his fav players. Gives Richie minutes yet leaves hungry youngsters on the bench. Keeps starting burn, won't play hall. Keeps dropping tino despite how well he plays, keeps playing longstaff who doesn't do fk all all game. We play like a team battling relegation

I remember when Eddie just got in, some people were saying we were gonna score and concede a lot, but mostly concede since that was what Eddie showed in Bournemouth. It seems we're starting to see that, this is what happens when Eddie doesn't have exactly the players he needs, he can't form a plan B.

Not fair towards Eddie imho. He has had loads of injuries, suspensions + champions league group of death. Only thing I can think he has done bad is not finding a way to cope without gegenpress. Injuries and many games makes it almost impossible to play that way. Without gegenpress, players like Almiron, Longstaff and Burn arent good enought. They need to play to their strengths not their weaknesses.
Missing players like Tonali, Botman, Joelinton, Barnes, Isak, Wilson etc would hurt any team.
The results against Luton Forest and Chelsea are not good enough

It’s very similar to how I feel with Ten Hag. Strange decisions slow to react in games and the post match interview really positive but with no meaning.

Brian, I loved Kick-Off for years. But appreciate you adapting to more debate type formats. But is there a possibility to do these as a live show of around 2hrs and republishing clips? Without only doing clips.
For me it was pretty obvious when we didn't even get one loan through the door in January to help out, the owners are set to move EH on this summer. Team spirit was decimated with all those last minute losses. EH has no plan B and deserved to be sacked about 5 games ago for persisting with Burn over Livramento...

My question on this is, what is Howe alternative? Against Chelsea specifically. What could/should he have done before the game and during to change the result?
On one hand your saying the players aren't good enough, on the other the manager should have done something but given no options and on the other hand your saying you lost because of stupid mistakes. If it's just stupid mistakes then that's a one-off performance thing. If it's the managers fault then there must be something you can suggest that would make things better. If the players aren't good enough then there's not much you can do until the summer or players get back from injury.
What I'm trying to say is that your pointing to 3 problems without giving any potential solutions and saying it's Howe's fault. I'm not saying he's not a some level of fault but with the squad you have and the injuries you've sustained, is mid table not realistic and jumping to something drastic might just be an over-reaction.
While i do miss the live shows and live reactions it does let the debates age better when the convos are coming after all the results of the week are in

ngl I have thought for a long time that trying to do a discussion based podcast while commentating on whats happening in the game that your watching does make some shows feel like they're neither one thing nor the other, so I think concentrating on one is a good call.
Great analysis….. and yes you are right to question Eddie Howes decision making. How Longstaff gets ahead of Livramento I will never know. There needs to be a good clear out in the summer and some smart investment in new players if we are to keep players like Bruno and Isak.

We're missing some massive players like Pope, Joelinton, Tonali, etc. but I agree with everything you've said. Class players like Isak and Bruno playing alongside Miggy and Longstaff FFS.
I don’t think it’s down to individual players because we are playing so bad as a team. The defence is rotten the midfield disappears every game and a striker of isak’s quality is left isolated and feeding off scraps. Something tactically needs to change but I think Howe is clueless about it
Heard yesterday we have the worst defensive record since Xmas. We have a manager who has only 1 system, can't change to protect the defence and will only buy players who fit his system. I was actually done after the summer transfer window where we kept players who should of been sold to buy better as we had champions league and those players clearly over achieved to get there but would never be able to cope with all competitions. Buying 2 youngsters who never get played a suspension which we didn't see coming and a left winger who we didn't need was a joke.

Nearly 6 months on I still feel that Eddie has lost the dressing room. Yes the team can turn themselves on but I feel they stopped listening to Eddie and jason ages ago. It's tough but Man City away is probably Eddie's last chance to save his job. Mid-table and no good cup runs are not a good enough return for the Saudis. If the season does end on Saturday then the sooner the planning starts for next season the better and that includes getting in the new coach.

I would play a 4-1-3-1-1 formation. Dubravka, Tino, Schar, Lascelles, Hall. Miley. Murphy, Bruno, Willock. Anderson. Isak. Eddie may as well have a go. If Almiron, Burn and Longstaff appear on the teamsheet (no offence to two diehard Geordies - Burn has never been a top class left back and Sean is carrying an injury) then it will go down as Eddie's professional suicide note.

Ruben Amorim is being heavily linked with Liverpool, but if Eddie does leave - at the end of the season let's say - he'd be great for Newcastle.
He played Gordon when he was injured.... Then suprise suprise he goes off injured after 20mins. You can even see him saying to the physio I can't play. It's great what Eddie has done but his loyalty to certain players is worrying. Plus he needs to find a new tactic..when we don't play the high press we are a shambles. 😢😢.... Fixture overload, which gives lasting physical and emotional fatigue.
So players he didn't want, with the best ones injured, and most burnt out.
Eddie Howe has been and is currently being successful.
You don't put a 6'7" guy out on the wing where they are covering the shortest fastest guys for the opposition. Last year we got away with it but when Target came back you still started Burn over him. Our crosses during corners are not great so we don't need an extra tall guy out there on.

Longstaff in particular epitomises Newcastle and our standards with and without the ball are not anywhere even close to being anywhere near Premier league standard. Steve bruce had us playing better, we didn't concede anywhere near as much with him and he never had half a billion to spaff away. Picking your favourites, denying reality, giving contracts to piss poor players there are many similarities to bruce but the alarming thing is he didn't have any choice working for Ashley, eddie does have a choice so there is no excuses. There is something fundamentally wrong with how we play, set up, team selection, mentality, tactics and effort. Why prolong the inevitable he is demonstrating he will never achieve. The momentum from the takeover carried us last season now the true level is exposed. Howes stock has risen from where it was when we got him so parting ways now won't mean the end for him in management. Sentimentality does nothing but hold you back and cloud your judgement. We need a whole new way of playing and the wasters Longstaff almeron and burn need a cold hard reality check from a manager that isn't their best friend.
