A UFC fighters contract states they must be offered 3 fights a year. Conor has two fights left on his contract. From a money standpoint, it makes sense for the UFC to have Conor fight sooner rather than later because a mans star fades the longer he is not competing. What is being suggested here is that the UFC does not want Conor to fight because they don't want him to be greater than the UFC? That makes no sense. Conor is 36 and his prime is over. Why would they see drag out the process? Why do they care if he fights out his contract? Conors motivation isn't money at this point anyway, surely.

What people are forgetting is that the UFC's contract with ESPN is up, they are currently in negotiations with other broadcasters/streamers for their new PPV home. They holding back Connor for that reason, it's a bargaining piece to get the biggest bid. Imagine UFC's first live PPV event on example-(Netflix) with Conor headlining. WWE (also TKO owned) just signed a deal for live event streaming on Netflix, I can imagine they are looking at Netflix for UFC future as well.

i have a hard time believing conor, the guy who took on chad mendes on short notice, took on jose aldo with no fear, took on nate diaz on short notice and rematched him immediately after getting beat in 2 rounds, took on khabib for his original return fight, and never pulled out of a single fight in his entire career ... is refusing to fight chandler right now. this is the ufc slow drowning his star power, so when he leaves, the impact won't be as big to them. it's absolutely scummy from dana and crew to treat conor this way, after all he's given to the sport. he went on an historic run, brought untouchable numbers to the sport and always showed respect to the company. dana should give them man his flowers and let him ride off into the sunset as a legend, not as a "has been".
