Definitely don't drop weapons or armor if you have 2 of the same item, you can use them to repair your items. If you have 2 9mm pistols you can use the one with worse condition to repair the other, one will be destroyed but the other will be repaired and its the same with the armor

@@KingdomAce That was painful to watch lol. Everytime you dropped something with the big glowing repair button right there hurt my soul. Also Pro Tip from someone who has 2000+ hours in the game since I bought it on release day for Xbox360, get the Jury Rigging Perk as soon. For a new player, it is a 100% must as it will allow you to repair your best equipment, and fix expensive gear with cheap gear in order to make 💰
Fallout New Vegas wasn't made by the Bethesda. It had been created by the Obsidian Entertainment, a studio made by creators of the original 2 Fallout games.

yup, they used the engine of fallout 3 from bethesda, but writing and world creating were from the original team. most of the team that was left anyways. obsidian surely knew how to make real rpgs.

Gotta say bro, I love that you say the lines the character says. It makes each encounter with an NPC feel like a real conversation, spectacular.
Yo 8 CHR 1 LUCK I died 😂 but that’s with hindsight, it’s just cool seeing someone make mistakes at the beginning of starting a game you love bc Ik when I started I though charisma was gonna be essential too (it’s not just up speech and barter and you good), but that’s why fallout has so much replay value. NV is such a special game you can feel how much love and passion went into it. I’m not a big fan of the mods but you’re funny and have a good energy and I just love NV so much I’m hyped to see you enjoy it!

Wow, I've never seen the tutorial quest fail before; I don't know if it's because the quest sequence broke or it's because of all the mods installed. After a gajillion hours invested in this game, I come to a let's play and still see new things in F:NV!

A small tip: The skills have more uses than in Fallout 3, and every skill unlocks dialogue options. There are also hidden perks that you get when levering up your special stats.

@@jacobc8019 Perks as in good things you want to happen, not as in in-game taxonomy. For instance, a higher AGL stats gives you faster reloads.
Watched your Non Skyrim fan plays Skyrim for the first time months ago, followed it for quite a bit
Got recommended this and was not disappointed.
I think they main takeaway from the first episode is that New Vegas is a game all about player choice, but also consequence to said choices.
You are not on rails so you can really choose to go wherever you want, it's funny but the route you took is not even close to the most dangerous either, with the amount of ammo crafting options, perks, traits, weapons, chems, armor, etc. The difference between being prepared and not is huge.
Once you have mastered the wasteland you really feel powerful, the game unlike Skyrim is not as level scaled, so you'll really feel it when you become a force to be reckoned with.
With companions and a set of power armor you feel pretty unstoppable.
(Until the deathclaws humble you anyway.)

@TheGlowingOnee the game can't even open right on my computer. I'm on windows 11 and it never displays correctly. And every time it does, it crashes every 30 seconds. I literally had no choice. I tried minimalistic mods but they just wouldn't fix my issue. Especially since it as trying to record it so not being able to alt-tab made it worse too. I saw alot of NV recommend TTW mod so that's what I got and it worked great. It may not be vanilla, but who cares? Everything it adds is likely what would be added for a remaster of the game. And as long as I have fun, there's no issue.
cases are for making bullets at a work bench and don't go north of Goodsprings bc its full of surprises. stalk up on stimpacks and tons of bullets. increase your specials like speech, repairs, locpicks.
When you make character u usually have all 5 stats + 5 points to add to, whoever made this mode fukked up badly.

Begin Again is balanced under the premise that you do a lot in Fallout 3, including quest rewards that raises your SPECIAL above what you had initially. So when they ask you to lower your stats at the beginning of New Vegas in 7:05 you don't suffer that much.
When you created the character, you still worked under those rules. So you had 5 SPECIAL points less to work with at character creation, without nothing in return.
In fact, I think you cut down your max level in half: since you have 25 levels worth of exp in F3 and 25 in FNV to work with.
17:28 Most people see two bears high fiving. To the point that the game in a dlc, if you have the _Wild Wasteland_ trait you will find a character named Two-Bears-High-Fiving as a nod, and I guess apology it wasn't an option xD

1:27:18 Even if you don't do a pure sneak playthrough, having at least 25 points can make your life easier. Not only to start combat on your own terms, but for example, you can't enter weapons in casinos, and sneak can help you with that.
1:37:28 I think it started on the idea of the currency being one bottle of clean water. But that would weight too much, so they transformed it into 1 bottle of purified water = 1 bottlecap, it works since they are hard to counterfeit.
1:41:16 Cases are used to craft bullets at the correct workbench: you breakdown a kind you don't use (or the normal variant if you want armor piercing of the same caliber) to get prime and stuff, and then use those materials to craft the desired bullet.
2:07:40 Most containers in the game are unsafe. That is, when the cell resets (which will do in a week) the contents will be replaced with something else.
You must unlock the house to have access to a place with safe storage.
2:08:12 It is actually the opposite: you will be disguised as a member of that faction. It is the same with any outfit that belongs to any faction.
The ones who will probably shoot you, will be the enemies of said faction, but not them.

If you don't mind some tips or suggestions:
a) Pick a weapon skill to make the game a bit easier. This leads to my next tip
b) FNV and F3 both scale enemy health with difficulty, so weapon skills matter even more than usual
c) It's worth playing the game on Normal and Hardcore. Hardcore does change some aspects of the game but on normal its easier than what your dealing with now, plus it really gives weight to the survival aspect of the game and how people struggle throughout the wastes.
I know nothing about Fallout (except the tv show) but seeing someone getting the video game mods and stuff before starting the game, is quite interesting
They should really re-release this game on modern consoles, and since even the PC Port is so old, it takes a lot to get it to run consistently well without crashing and stuff on windows 11

The problem is, the modlist assumes he will beat F3 before starting FNV, and he didn't.
Edit: For example, in vanilla New Vegas you have max level 50, but Begin Again tunes it down to 25 available exp for F3, and 25 for FNV.
Also, they remove 5 SPECIAL when you get shot, because it is expecting that you got a lot of perks that raised SPECIAL in F3.

But what would be the point?
The goal of TTW is keeping your character from F3 in FNV.
He is using a modlist called _Begin Again_ that modifies the basic _Tale of Two Wastelands_ to force you to start in Fallout 3, and it is balanced around beating F3 and the dlcs before riding the train to start Fallout New Vegas.
So, why keep playing FNV with a nerfed character (-5 SPECIAL because it assumes you can afford to lose them) to later create another character to play F3?
Instead of doing it correctly and load his F3 save, beat the game, and use it in FNV?
He made a choice the moment he godmoded his way (probably breaking some scripts in the process) to start New Vegas: to not play Fallout 3.
7:36 That's something I really loved about Tales of Two Wastelands allowing the player to travel from the Capital Wasteland (Fallout 3) to the Mojave Wasteland (New Vegas) by a train. Bringing over your main character from Fallout 3 along with any equipment from the game. Fallout 3 has alot of items only found in the game from base game items to DLC. Same with New Vegas as well so it's a blast when you return back to the Capital Wasteland looking like a Mojave cowboy with six shooters, and repeating rifles. Not to mention followers as well like you mentioned. If you travel to the Mojave with a follower they'll tag along as well. Same if you travel back to the Capital Wasteland from the Mojave with a New Vegas follower.
Also it's cool that the mod includes unique dialogue as well for people who want to go from Fallout 3 to New Vegas as the same character. I need to check out this version of Tales of Two Wastelands.
It is a wabbajack modlist called _Begin Again_ and maybe new patches changed since I download it a long time ago, but if I remember correctly it was designed so F3 was a memory of your past and not a place you go visit again, unlike vanilla TTW that allows freedom on that sense.
You are forced to start from the F3 side of things, and to beat the main quest before you can go to New Vegas.
It is not impossible to go back and forth, but then if a script broke it was your fault xD
To that modlist I added the animations from B42.
Edit: Like I said, maybe they changed stuff on a recent patch.
@@Ilwenray85 That makes sense. It was odd leaving D.C four years and then returning back like nothing happened with everyone waiting for your return. Would be funny if they modded in an outcome that saw D.C fall if you leave before finishing the main story and return back.

I started that old version of the modlist three weeks ago.
I said properly because I stopped TTW to play _Enderal_ (a total conversion mod for Skyrim, that in my opinion is better than Skyrim) and my internet here is too bad to download the new version of _Begin Again_

You repair guns by using the same type of gun and repairing it.The NCR ''New California Republic'' has its own currency but Caps are still the main currency in this region. And the different types of armour from factions you have on will effect the outcome of some interactions and some will shoot at you. Karma is how good or bad you are within not associated with your reputation with factions and towns..

TTW Is the best way to experience Fallout 3 in terms of stability, which was the reason he installed the modlist _Begin again:_ he was playing F3.
But he f...ed up, because it is made on the understanding you are beating up F3 before going to FNV.
Begin Again has 25 levels worth of exp in F3, and another 25 in FNV. Unlike the max 50 you get on vanilla FNV
It also punishes you with 5 less SPECIAL points when you get shot at the start of FNV, because it is assuming you got some of the perks that raise SPECIAL during F3 so it is not that bad of a tradeoff.
The best way to experience it is with VNV's core to stabilize the beautiful fucked mess that it is, especially on modern systems. As long as he followed a curated list and didn't 1) go top picks on nexus which are mostly broken these days, or 2) fall down the SINITAR scam-hole, he's pretty gucci.
Besides, the fact that vanilla, you can legit choose Logan's Loophole on your first playthrough is enough of a mark against going directly vanilla.

@@onholyservicebound1415 You know, _Begin Again_ changed the bobbleheads for useful related perks, instead of raising the SPECIAL/skill.
For example, the Charisma bobblehead lets you recruit all companions regardless of karma... and I don't know if faction too, since I am still in F3.
The Medicine bobblehead -raises the effect of stimpaks- iirc (I remembered wrong, is 10% less chance to get addicted to chems) The Strenght one raises the carryweight... and so on and so forth.
I kind of like this approach more, and sometimes can change the way I play after getting one.

I'm like half way through the video and am enjoying seeing someone new to Fallout play it. I started with Fallout 3, so when I played New Vegas, I had some knowledge of how the game worked.
There's a lot of great stuff in this game, but I personally prefer FO3 more in some ways, partially from it being what I started on. I also feel like New Vegas is harder to explore at earlier levels. It seemed like everywhere I went besides the main path was too difficult until I got higher in level. It feels like it's almost linear until I get to New Vegas. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
I still haven't finished New Vegas although I got close. I started doing DLC towards the end and then lost momentum for the main story.
My favorite part of watching someone play fnv for the first time is watching them struggle to make something that resembles a human in the character creator

Just because I miss something doesn't mean I'm rushing. Missing things is part of the experience. The devs made this game expecting this to happen. It's gonna be okay. I'm playing at my own pace and following what interests me. I'll be back to Goodsprings.

you gonna love the DLC's though not sure if you gonna do them in order or release or something (Dead Money, Honest hearst, Old world Blues, Lonesome Road, (though i personally switch Honest hearts and Old worlds blues placement for which ones i do first). but honestly, best to do the DLC's after or before the end of the main storyline, but most importantly, have fun.
but i think the order that makest he most sense is , Old World Blues, Dead Money, and Honest Hearts, Lonesome Road, but do as you will
He needs to do OWB asap, to get rid of the Head Trauma debuff included with his _Begin Again_ modlist with the mod _(Benny Humbles You) and Steals Your Stuff_ to at least recover the 5 SPECIAL points he is missing. The rest of the debuff will remain, that is something at least.

The dlc that saved those games for me where _Point Lookout_ and _Far Harbor_ because the worldbuilding in those was better than the base game.
But of course, I like to read.
I care about the lore and worldbuilding, and I don't care that much about the shooting/gameplay, and perhaps that is the difference between us.

Since I don't really see you playing Fallout 1 or 2, I'll tell you this. This is the peak of Fallout.... It's all downhill from here, enjoy it while you can.

Will you do F3 after NV? The DLCs are awesome
The modlist _Begin Again_ for TTW is assuming he just beat Fallout 3 when he started Fallout New Vegas, the place to ride the train is around lvl 20 full of supermutants (and max available exp pool is 25 for each game) he just god mode his way there, probably breaking a few scripts in the process.
To start a F3 playthrough after playing New Vegas doesn't make too much sense mechanically speaking with TTW, since the point is keeping your character progression when you start New Vegas.
Either he stops the Fallout New Vegas series and reloads his F3 save continuing from there (it would be the best, he only has 25 levels worth of exp available now) finishing F3 and keeping his character, or forgets about F3.
If you were thinking he would play vanilla F3 (not _Tale of Two Wastelands_ that allows for F3 in FNV engine) you are dreaming, the game doesn't even run in modern systems xD

And he doesn't have too much time to play games he won't stream, so if FNV doesn't get enough support, he won't play it either even if he is personally enjoying it.
picking "skilled" loses you 100 points to distribute when all is said and done. 50 lvl cap. 50 x 2 for the points your sacrificing per level is 100 points. plus 5 in each skill is only 65 total points because there are only 13 skills 13x5= 65. so your trading 100 points overall through you play through for an immediate 65. by level 32 your skilled trait begins to work against you. :)
I don't think he can even reach level 32.
The modlist he is using for TTW, called Begin Again, has 25 levels worth of experience in F3 and another 25 in FNV.
It is designed so you beat F3 and dlc's before doing FNV (including having some of the perks that increased a SPECIAL stat as reward for some of the F3 quests) so he started with 5 less SPECIAL points, and less total available exp by not using his F3 character.
Edit: Just checked it, is 25 each, so even less total exp that what I thought. Corrected it xD

I guess that after having _Begin Again_ working, he was lazy to install a modlist specifically for FNV.
Or maybe he wants to be able to play F3 on his own, so he wanted to keep the modlist installed.
I guess he can cheat the missing exp, if things get too annoying.

But playing Fallout New Vegas vanilla on new systems is almost impossible.

I loved how, even though you were much more limited than you should have been in SPECIAL attributes, you tried to make a well-structured build (and you succeeded, even with excessive charisma). That's the magic of fallout

I always laugh a little when streamers and video content creators with facecams pick "disagree" to "I'm fixing to be the center of attention." For some reason almost all streamers pick disagree to that.
I think a lot of gaming creators these days are introverts, so despite our line of work when it comes to in-person scenarios like the one talked about (or at least the game is implying its an in-person scenario cause there is no online in fallout LOL), a lot of us dont wanna be the center of attention in that kind of situation lol

Okay, all my complaints for the show are over. It did it's job and brought new folks in. I hope you get at least 10% of the fun this game has been giving me since 2010.
I think Ithat people are not fair to Fall out 3 I think it's cool that your dad is Liam neeson. I also think it's cool that your protagonist can be a person of color because your mother is black.(It's okay and why is your character could actually be a person of color)❤ And I think that the story is sweet you following your dad out of the vault. I do think that fallout New Vegas is a better game I think that fallout 4 would be ranked right behind it and fallout 3 unfortunately gets ranked dead last honestly because two is Right neck and neck with fallout New Vegas. And while fallout the original fallout started it all it is in no way better than fallout 4 or fallout New Vegas. And don't get me started on the tactics crap cuz I'm not a brotherhood of steel lover. But I love the fallout series in general it's awesome I would try Skyrim too because all the elder scrolls games are amazing plus The evil within damn good game it's from the guy that does the resident evil games either he does the art or the writing or something but I just remember feeling that it looks so damn familiar only to find out that it did have some people that came over from resident evil to do The evil within.😅
