      "GECK" is an acronym for *Garden of Eden Creation Kit* and is one of the most important items in Fallout lore, as it is a cold fusion-powered terraforming device that can reshape the nuclear wastes back into its pre-war environment. GECKs have been apart of Fallout since the beginning, with The Chosen One being sent to find one to save Arroyo, his home, in Fallout 2. There's also the Super GECK, which is presumably just a GECK but more powerful. @@FatManJackson

      Apparently the issue with Bethesda games on PS3 was the CELL processor which combined the CPU and GPU into a single powerful chip unlike most consoles that have their CPU and GPU separate.
      Bethesda games tend to be very CPU-heavy, meaning that they had to cap CPU usage on PS3 to prevent it from taking power from the GPU, thus causing a lot more framerate issues and crashes than on Xbox 360.
      It does explain why a lot of Western third party games tended to crash more on PS3.

    It is odd how often people claim New Vegas has superb factional depth and moral greyness but also immediately condemn the Legion as cartoon villains. I mean, I agree, but I think it goes to show that the factions of New Vegas aren't really THAT engaging. The NCR is presented as essentially vanilla good guys and the Legion is just straight up evil. The only real options are NCR vs. Mr. House, which is interesting, but not really any more so than the Brotherhood of Steel vs. the Institute in Fallout 4, often bemoaned as having an awful faction system.

      The legion does have some depth, there are NPCs that do make some cases for good they’ve brought (for example Raoul saying raiders are nearly nonexistent in Arizona and various traders saying Legion territory is some of the safest in the wasteland.)
      I think it’s a case of time limitations set by Bethesda meaning they couldn’t flesh out the legion as much coupled with the fact they wanted to have a clear “evil” faction that lead to the Legion coming off as cartoonishly evil.

      well I'm pretty sure its been said a lot (at this point can't remember if its just fans making stuff up or not) but a lot was cut from the legion unfortunately so a lot of depth form them is missing, but I wouldn't say they're outright villains depending on your perspective. Sure they definitely do evil and bad things, but they have the safest trade routes, their people (outside the slaves) are rather well taken care of, and their military is a powerhouse.
      The NCR also aren't really good guys, they are riddled with corruption and ineptitude at every turn, you also have I think it was bitter springs (why are there like 4 places name *insert* springs) where they butchered and murdered a bunch of innocents, they're willing to completely take from people that are just existing to improve themselves (helios power). I wouldn't say they're vanilla good guys.
      House is honestly probably closer to a good guy than the NCR is, he is for sure not a good guy, but I'd put him closer. He is definitely selfish and probably a bit power hungry, but he wants his city to be prosperous, he wants to reignite the advancements in technology. I mean he could be completely ruthless but decides not to be, look at when the wire in his casino gets caught, he doesn't just wipe out the followers of the apocalypse when he could, easily. House is a realist most of the time, he knows that you're gonna have to make hard decision in a place like the wastes, he knows he is not the good guy, and he doesn't try to be, he protects what he can and what he loves, his city for him to rule over and make a new peaceful world. Which if you look at new vegas, it is rather peaceful and prosperous, you can't deny that he has done a good job building up from near nuclear annihilation, and that it definitely was going to take some harsher methods. Being the nice guy isn't always the right option when you have to be a leader, sometimes (most of the time) a leader has to be harsh, cold, and ruthless so that those behind him and/or under him can grow and be safe.
      The brotherhood and institute in fallout 4 are definitely far more cartoony than the fallout new vegas factions.

    • @Gameprojordan
      @Gameprojordan Před 9 dny +6

      The Legion has far more depth than Bethesda-era Enclave and Institute have combined, and they weren't even fully fleshed out due to time constraints. Originally Obsidian wanted you to be able to travel into Arizona itself and visit the Legion capital city "Flag Staff" where you'd be able to see the life of the Legion outside of the Frontlines of war, which wasn't going to be nearly as vicious and brutal as they're depicted in NV itself

    This game is goat of Fallout series, and that's just a fact. Fallout 1 and 2 set us up. 3 brought us into the realm of 3D, and while it had its problems, it was a crucial step. New Vegas took 3 and pushed the formula to a new level of perfection. Fallout 4 looked at new vegas and asked, "How can i make this as braindead as possible?" Im sorry. Ive been playing games for over 20 years. Ive got plenty of references for what a good game is. I cannot bring myself to slog through the surface level shit that is Fallout 4. I pity people who are silly enough to see a few fancy visual effects, and it just = 10/10 gameplay. The graphics are the only good thing about it. Everything else is surface level. It's unforgivable to discover over 50 locations for every single one to be 5 rooms and a generic loot box.

    • @V-Jes
      @V-Jes Před 11 dny +7

      "Ive got plenty of references for what a good game is" You clearly don't if you somehow consider 4 a bad game because it's "braindead" while NV's crashing issues and bugs they still haven't fixed even to this day make it "perfection", even tho objectively that makes it a worse game no matter how you look at it...

      @@V-Jes The game literally spawned dogmeat on my face even though I've never met the animal in game because the story was written as if there is no universe I don't meet the dog in an RPG with multi- million dollar budget. I also cant kill all of the annoying characters because the devs were too lazy to write any branching plotlines. Every Location boils down to generic enemies with generic loot at the end. Every place that there should be interesting settlements, there's a workbench instead so I can spawn a bunch of generic NPC's with extra steps. People who say the building is deep actually don't play games that focus on resource management. Because if you did, you'd realize how little choice there is and how barebones everything about it is. Even the interface for it is wack. Feels like shit. While I will admit the combat is an improvement, its not 10/10 combat. Bethesda's usual design of bullet-spongy, generic enemies are as present and take no for-thought to eliminate. After forcing myself to go through over 50 locations, I realized that I probably already experienced everything the game has to offer. What a sad excuse an an entry to the series. Ill take buggy ass freedom any day of the week kid. I literally don't give a fuck about graphics. Its icing on the cake. Cool if its good. Doesn't really matter if its bad as long as the gameplay is good. Gameplay is braindead as fuck though. Literally hold W and kill the same shit for hours. No depth. No Lore. Literally one of the most disappointing and unappetizing Experiences I've ever had. If I wanted to play a survival game Id actually go play one designed to be a survival game with good mechanics. You literally have shit taste if you like Fallout 4 and you need to go play other shit. They made combat marginally more Punchy and kids lost their minds. We lost the rest of the game for that trash. Big F

    • @Whiggss
      @Whiggss Před 11 dny

      @it2spooky4me79 it's cool that you like the game. I have no problem with that at all. While I can't say that I really enjoy what they put together ( other games do what they tried to do way better ), it's fine that you like it. As a big fan of the series and lore and a big game critique, it was quite the disservice to the source material to gut it and trend chase. While I enjoy the marginally improved gunplay and new mechanics (even though a lot of them are half baked), the experience is destroyed for me when I realize how little agency I have. Overuse of the essential tag on NPC feels really lazy, especially in a multi-million dollar production where its focus is to be RPG. It's like they are using it as a "get out of jail free card" to not have to write branching narratives. It was really not excusable when the previous game gave you the foundation of a narrative that could be completed no matter how the player behaves. New vegas took 18 months. 4 years to make. There's just such a drastic lack or quality in everything in the game where it counts. The set pieces can often times be great, and the graphics look awesome. But that gets bogged down when these set pieces are all super generic with the same enemy types. It's super jarring how every building is a circular path that leads back to the beginning with the same stupid generic loot chest at the end. It's such a waste. Like the boats in the river were super awesome. Until I got to them, and there were only like 4 enemies and the generic loot box. That sums up the whole game pretty much. They even spawned dogmeat on my face because the narrative is so railroaded Nick pretended that he knew him even tho my PC has never seen this dog. Then literally spawned it on my head 😒. Multi-million dollar production btw

    Love to see a small content creator put the work in and be better than most top level content creators.

    I got this game on release day for 360. One of my favorite glitch early was radscorpions would fall through the geometry all the time. I played through it twice before i ever got to kill one. When they stopped falling through the geometry it made the wasteland harder.
