Fallout: New Vegas is a action role-playing game set in the Mojave Desert, years after a nuclear war left much of the United States decimated. The player controls a courier who survived an assassination attempt from an unknown assailant. The goal of the game is to complete a series of quests to find the assailant, which eventually culminates in a war between different governing factions vying for control of the Mojave Desert.

VATS is also really handy to 'scan' areas. Like when you were running up to the Blue Star bottlecaps guy, trying to see if he was friendly or not, you can use VATS to check that from a safe distance.
I hadn't thought of that! I'll try to remember that when I record more. I'll likely still make this mistake in episode 3 since it's already done now but ep 4 and onwards I'll do better! Thanks for the tip!
I use it in the same way as Witchers sense. If I see Caution pop up but don't see the enemy, spam VATS to find em.
The Legion Assassins at your current level are basically a death sentence. Best offense is to run away like a Mofo - try to kite them somewhere that can give you backup.

Unfortunately, Sunny Smiles is required for this quest, though someone should mod it so she isn't, because she isn't really necessary you can handle it on your own.
But because of her death with the geckos Ringo is unwilling to take on the powder gangers.(The lack of dialogue explaining that is disappointing though, I didn't even realize why there was no option originally as Sunny has never died on my game. The mod pack you have needs more balance for new players, as few will know to babysit sunny and her dog with the geckos.
But yeah, her death is why that quest is broken.(Which is sad because it is a neat quest that gives you a chance to use your different skills like medicine and speech, disappointed.(Not in you, but in the game for not having alternative paths and in the mod for making Sunny far too squishy, she clears these geckos out for a living so should be able to survive.)

1:01:26 Your skills are more relevant than how good you are at playing shooters. There should be blurriness, because your character doesn't have the minimum requirement to use the weapon correctly.
But that effect is tuned with 75 FOV and you keep changing it to 100, so it is not working as intended.

Bottlecaps are not the only currency in Fallout New Vegas: you have the NCR dollars (100 Dollars = 40 caps) and the Legion coins.
In some places the pre-war dollars are worth a lot, but normally are less than one bottlecap. Still, keep them for when you can use them.
You can convert the faction currencies in The Strip to caps, or use the currency itself (in the misc tab) for trade.
1:05:41 Karma is different than faction reputation. You lose karma with God because stealing is bad. Even if the owner has worse karma than you xD
1:42:56 That weapon is weaker than the other because a) it is more damaged, and b) it needs 25 guns to properly use it. You can see if you lack the strenght or the skill because the numbers will be greyed out.
But I must say, you just left the shop (where Cass was) so it was painful to watch you drop the stuff on the ground right next to it ^^U
Others already told you that to maintain the equipment you use duplicates of what you already have, but the advice came too late xD

You can hold your breath with Alt for a bit more stability with any weapon that has a scope, but... the sniper is too much for you right now ^_^
2:10:29 While both choices get the job done at the end of the day, as a matter of personal preference I prefer to get the actual sheriff that was stuck in the Correctional Facility.
The only reason I prefer that choice is that Primm was trying to remain independent from the NCR before they were attacked by the powder gangers.
If you hold your Pip Boy button down it turns on a flashlight. Its super handy in dark areas when looting after killing off the enemies.
This comment was a godsend. In the next episode there's a part where it's so dark and scary and I'm just struggling so bad. So when I record episode 4 this is really gonna help me. Thanks so much LOL
@@KingdomAce Just be careful, unlike Cateye it will break sneak. As revmaynardd pointed out, use it when the enemies are dead, or your cover is already gone.
@@KingdomAce I almost left this comment on the first video but I don't like to "backseat" people and want them to enjoy the game, but that felt like a QOL thing you might appreciate.

In stalker game series they have this mechanic when people get nervous if you're poking guns in their face lol.
P.S. I enjoy your gameplay and reactions. FNV is one of my favourite games, mostly because of the story and variety of choices and consequences.
@@revmaynardd What I got from what he said in past series, is that he dislikes "backseat" in regards to choices.
When the game doesn't communicate properly with the player, he clearly skipped a basic tutorial, or learned the wrong lesson about a mechanic, you are free to explain it to him.
I think there is a balance between _let me figure this on my own first_ and _why am I stuck here?_
You can either use uneeded/duplicate weapons to either sell them or use them to repair others of the same kind

Legionary Assassins can be brutal when your character build is in the single digits, but by the mid-game their loot drops will be funding your conquest of the Mohave -- if you even need the caps by then.
my biggest tip for you is to use fast travel when you fill up and sell all items to vendor, then tp back. Also i love the long format as a 10 year fallout player i love to see a fresh take on the game like your providing.
also grab two of the same guns and combine them in repair to fix one using the other
I've played this game so long, I had forgotten how steep the learning curve can be. I realize I am a month too late with my advice, but I have a few suggestions:
-If you have two or more of the same or similar weapons and armour, you can repair one of them from your inventory. It will consume the other(s), but the health of your weapon and/or armour will improve, meaning they will be more effective. Repairing equipment in this game is your friend! Major Knight at Mojave Outpost, Old Lady Gibson in Novac and several other characters can also repair equipment, for a fee.
-New Vegas is a text-heavy game. Talking to characters is important for unlocking clues and quests. You don't necessarily need to select an obviously obnoxious or evil line of dialogue, but try to explore as many text options as possible. Sometimes there is important information people have that they don't immediately share.
-The first few towns and friendly locations - Goodsprings, Primm, Sloan, Mojave Outpost, Novac - have early-game quests that help level your character. The challenge of the enemies and world become progressively harder the further out you wander.
Your modded game also seems to have added enemies that are not in the vanilla game, such as the Deranged Bright Followers, so I'm guessing the mods have also made your version of New Vegas especially difficult. Good luck! :)
FYI: There's a house in Goodsprings just across the road from the saloon, past the windmill and raised water tank where Easy Pete sleeps that has a free bed and storage so you don't have to lug everything around with you. Makes a useful "safe house" early game.
Watching you struggle with inventory management hurts me, so have another tip: Since you'll eventually get to Novac, you can rent a permanent residence pretty cheaply there - safe to store stuff as well as having a local merchant to sell stuff rather than dropping it on the ground. Another highly useful "safe house" location.

Never get tired of people doing blind playthoughs, especially fallout 3 and new Vegas. New or old doesn't matter, original walking dead is good too.👍

Haha yeah, seeing 1 luck and 9 charisma hurt my soul.
It's been driving me crazy . I'm watching a couple of play throughs and the both sunk everything into charisma and stuff and completely ignoring strength , endurance and perception . I get that in some games that might work but this isn't that kind of game , sure you can talk your way through some checks and itll maybe help in the nain quest but it wont help anywhere else. Watching people get crushed because they're running into enemies with no health , no AP and too scrawny to carry decent weapons and armour is super frustrating. Same for neglecting combat based skills , they can't use some on the most effective weapons in the game because they're dumping everything into speech and things while trying to tackle death claws with a caravan shotgun. One of them has the matter modulator and the prototype laser rifle but had put no points in energy weapons and it stuck tackling everything with a hunting shotgun
As a long time fallout fan, it’s fun to see a new fan play through my favorite fallout game and see how you play. Will be tuned in!

Legion ambushes are deadly man. The first time it happened to me I had to kite them and move around for like 10 minutes, it was one hell of a fight.

Man the powder gang would have let you just walk in and talk to the guy the deputy wanted you to talk to at the NCRCF. Primm didn't want NCR protection
Went through all the trouble of killing them guys and didn't even get their energy weapons lol

I wish I knew legion sends assassin squads before same thing happened to me first time. Only thing that saved me was my grenade rifle.
For me Charisma in New Vegas is like the most useless Special Trait, as those other 4 points can be used to strength or luck
Imo Luck is the best special trait, when it comes to crits and especially Gambling (specifically Blackjack)
In Fallout 2, higher your charisma the more companions you can have at once. Maxed out CH means 5 companions plus you. 😮

_Begin Again_ checks your Charisma against the npc's intelligence.
It is not a dump stat, almost all dialogue choices (for all skills) need it -_-U
It is both wholesome and annoying, seeing his community giving a lot of advice that doesn't apply to him.
Edit: To be more precise:
"If you CHR stat and the INT of the person you're speaking to are the same, your skill won't change in dialog checks.
Otherwise:
If your CHR is higher than whoever you're speaking to's INT stat is, the skill check will become easier.
If your CHR is lower than whoever you're speaking to's INT stat, it will likewise become harder."
@TechnoBear2099 The Charisma Bobblehead from F3 allows you to recruit any character regardless of karma... and maybe faction, but I am not sure of that one.
Of course, it is the same issue: going out of your way to get it.
as a longtime player i suggest for a first playthrough just be you, when it comes to morality and decisions just wing it follow the gut

dude take the extra weapons if you can carry enough, you can dismantle one and up the condition of the same weapon with them and the extra one is gone.
and put some attribute points on luck next time lol. why you are missing has a lot to do with the luck skill and the condition of the weapons
I would strongly advise against going to the Vegas Strip (and Crimson Caravan) on the north path from Goodsprings. The enemies will be very hard to kill. Best way is following your main quest (Thay went thata way) until you reach the Vegas area :)

It was said before, but again, it is hard for you to aim your weapons at this point, because your character's Gun Skill is only at 20. Gun Skill on your stats determines how easy it is to aim your normal gun weapons, because this is more of an RPG than just a shooter game.

Great session, play normally as u u usually do its grat to observe how you failing too, dont need too observe another super experience player that wins everything. Playn hard is wild! :)

IDK if this has been pointed out to you or not, but the reason your weapon sway when aiming is so wide is because your skill is so low. You've made a character that is terrible at shooting anything at all, and the game reflects that.

Good thing you’re not playing on Hardcore, selling purified water is crazy, but on normal mode I suppose it’s not that important. Still crazy to put another point into Charisma tho.

@@KingdomAce Hardcore changes a lot of stuff, but the one related to their comment is that it adds the needs for water, food, and sleep.
So, you selling water on Hardcore is pretty much a game over xD
Playing on Hard difficulty is just making the enemies bullet sponges, so people tend to play FNV on Normal Hardcore instead ^^U

Because building specialized characters can be fun, play to his strengths, with the mods he has he'll probably be getting better reputation boosts and more companions/stronger followers with charisma

the legion are always so violent towards me for no reason (no one likes vuples inculta) so I always align myself against the legion
I can't choose them even if I am doing an evil playthrough, because it wouldn't make sense. I play females, even when I help them I am still _just a woman_
It is a conflict of interest for Caesar to give me a position of power (even when I am doing the job his men can't do) because his faction is built on the idea that women are there just to _satisfy_ them.
House is the neutral choice (not the best, not the worst) so I pick him instead.

It's not much but you're getting a subscribe and like for the NPC who has a vocabulary of 100 words, 25 of them being the F bomb. I never noticed it before because I'm used to being around people like that, but yeah it is kind of annoying. Also, you've got a lot of video and I may miss it, but if something weighs nothing but has value pick it up. You can always sell it and it isn't holding you down. Cash/weight ratio.
