  • I replaced the outer tie rods before I replaced the inner. This went well until I second guessed myself. Then having everything back together, it came apart to replace the inner the following morning. This is a full replacement of the inner and outer tie rods for the 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer.

Nice video dude. I will have to do this to mines (2004) lancer es. When I’m driving you can hear the driver side wheel just banging sounds like a helicopter at high speeds. Took the tire off today and outer tie rod is shot.

Can you tell me what tie rod tool you used? Thumbs up for your video!

I used the harbor freight inner tie rod remover, for it for 25 dollars and the investment was well worth it. You can also rent them from auto parts stores for some insanely large price.

How much force did you put when tightening de inner tie rod? Also, what were you hammering after you installed them?

There is a flat washer, that is bent over and access the lock to keep the inner tire rod from spinning off the rack

What were you hammering on before putting the tool on the old tie rod to remove?

There’s a little metal ring, that locking ring that you have to put in before you put the tire rod on (new). I had to bend back the little ears back on the older one in order to remove the old tie rod. Without bending those little ears back, you’re going to spin your whole rack potentially damaging it.

Check the rear strut because usually with those were out there cause we are on the tire because they’re pushing the tire: if you have a camber bar check that too.
