- This week, on Chasing Chrome Ep. 5, we go float fishing for chum salmon!
These beautiful Chum salmon only come into the rivers for a few special days of the year to spawn, and that makes it an epic time to go fishing for them, since they come in such high numbers and so fast. Sit back, relax, watch some absolutely INSANE bobber downs, and don't forget to subscribe!

Were almost at 1K guys!! Thank you so much for all the support, I have the best subscribers!!😁
Looked Chumilicious!
Haha you know it brother! We should do a collab some day 🤫😁
@@BrianMonticello Hell yeah! I'd love to see a Leif and Brian Salmon collab. If you guys want a suggestion for a spot, I know a few beaches where apparently people can pull out Steelhead from the Salt. It's not a huge secret but it doesn't appear to be that well known, so I'll have to dm it to you.
Chum are one of my favorite fish to catch and the videos are getting better and better. Keep it up!!!
Haha thanks! Artisan hook
102.5 best radio station in Seattle
Now that's what I'm talking about bobber downs!!! For days!!!

@@BrianMonticello haha that would be amazing man theres nothing better than watching your bobber going down going tomorrow to catch some more
waiting to see your steelhead videos
the most underrated channel ever!
SICK VIDEO BRUV!!!!
Thanks Joe
Awesome video. Lots of cars at that spot so never bothered to go. Seen you further down river early in the season.
Nice! That one was pretty bright!
Smoked up nicely!
Nice fish! Bummer that the season seemed pretty short this year with rain we have had this year. Went out last Saturday and it was super muddy. Would be awesome to see some steelhead action, hoping to chase them this year too!
Thanks brother! My thoughts exactly
Awesome video just getting into salmon fishing and wondering were this stop is thanks in advance.
That first buck actually was really nice. Despite the colors he still had chrome scales on him.
Wow...
Best video Sir
👍
Best indeed! Lmao
Was waiting for a video from you, was sorta scared that something happened to you!
Haha yeah sorry I’m okay! Just moved to a new house and been busy with work, I have some content I just need to edit still! We’re back in it though!!

Pterodactyl 😂 next video - "Fishing in Jurassic Park"
For real
Hi I hear everyone tips their jig with a shrimp. Is the shrimp supposed to be cured or raw ?
Wow great video!!!!! Only thing you forgot was my shoutout ❤️❤️☺️ it’s ok, still #1 fan
Soon enough
@@BrianMonticello 🥺❤️
I'm going to be back up in SEAK again this summer. There is (very) limited sockeye opportunity in the area and I'll be in better than average early summer chinook area but realistically I'll be a tad early for strong pink runs and who knows what the kings will be doing this year. I'm sure I'll be getting more chum than anything and I'm certain I'm ok with that. Chum salmon rock.
What's good man!! I love fishing for chums there.. looked like a good time bro! Tight lines 🎣💯
Hey brother! Yessir, was mad fun!
@@BrianMonticello when did you go out there? I been wanting to get out there but the damn rain lol
@@cisco206pnw yeah before the rain earlier in the month. It's all blown out now
@@BrianMonticello that's what's up! I haven't fish in over a month, having withdrawals lol.. but I can't wait to get out for some steelies!! Caught my first winter steelie back in February. I'm new to steelhead fishing
@@cisco206pnw I feel you on that one and that’s awesome! Hoping to get my first one this season
I live and fish in the PNW. Sturgeon opens Jan. 1st!
When was this? Was out there last Sunday, hooked 5 fish and landed 3! Great video man definitely gunna sub!
That’s awesome!!! I recorded this one last week!
Nice vid. Make me itchy to go out. Mind if I ask when this video taken? Was thinking of hitting green but I thought it will be blown out.
Last week! And go for it!!
I was the guy fishing next to you In the beginning. New subscriber
Eyyy! Awesome!
I caught a huge Chum slow rollin a spinner at Metzler the other day.
That’s awesome! I wanna try that
@@BrianMonticello I also caught one a little further up across the bridge in the park. The water was super milky though. I like that shrimp trick. That's awesome. I'm stealing that. Lol. Awesome videos. Keep them coming. I live in tukwila it's cool seeing these same spots I fish. 👍
@@80millionvotesmy89 sweet man! That’s super cool, yeah shrimp is the way to go!
Have you ever caught Sea Run Cutty? If you are looking for great catch and release fishing I know a pretty good beach. You can catch them year round but they peak in the Spring I have been told. I caught two early this November, and I also caught one in June. You see them jumping all year round. A super fun little fish to catch, and gorgeous to look at
I’m downn
Awesome video dude! Where was this access point if you don't mind sharing? Having a tough time finding some new spots out there.
Search around for some other chum fishing videos around here, you will definitely find it!
i gotta ask, which river? i live in the north souns and I see you were heading south, Skykomish is closed.
This was on the green
how deep was your bobber from your jig? Thanks!
probably about 3.5 - 4 feet total I'd say
Was this Metzler? Thinking about heading down there but it looked a little crowded. I might go to a different spot
Def a bit crowded, I’m gonna be exploring a bit
@@BrianMonticello I have been fishing the Green for decades. I know the spots. :) Hit me up.
@@tahoma6889 message me on IG! Haha @bmonticello
Nice video man! How was the Saturday after I left with a chrome chum:) your friend got 2 already:)
Haha I didn’t get any 😂 but he was quite happy
@@BrianMonticello haha yeah. This rain ruined everything though. Hope we can fish a couple of times more this year..
@@western-fishing yeah me too haha looks like the weather might clear up for 1 day this weekend, we’ll see how the rivers look
I see you got the unfortunate experience of fishing next to my non stop talking friend, haha. J/K, he's a good dude.
Haha yeah he’s chill
What river was this on?
Green!
Can you share the location on green river.
Don’t wanna destroy the spot, sorry, but it’s the upper green!
Which app you use to zoom in?
For the last two videos (including the chum salmon video I’m dropping in 30 minutes) I’ve been editing in DaVinci Resolve 17. But for this video and all my past ones, iMovie
@@BrianMonticello how do you zoom in while using iMovie? It is great for bobber down I think:) appreciate the help
@@western-fishing you can google or CZcams tutorial, it’s called the Ken Burns effect, too tricky to detail in a comment
Figured it out :)
Nice video, but I have to say this: Don't drag a salmon onto shore until or unless you know you are keeping it. It makes it super easy for the fish to injure itself. And as you know, in the rivers, Salmon are physically incapable of regenerating damaged cells
Yeah very correct next time I will have a net
@@BrianMonticello I need to buy a couple knotless nets myself. Sometimes fish don't cooperate with being held while you unhook them
Nice vid but maybe try keepin em in the water as u land em even 30 seconds of a fish bein outta the water causes brain damage sometimes, just tail that thing
Totally agree! Hard to make up my mind if I’m going to keep the fish or not before I see it out of the water but using my net would help that for sure in the future, good looking out and encouraging proper handling! Need more fisherman like you!
@@BrianMonticello respect bro 💪🏽💪🏽 didnt wanna sound like im attackin u or anything but that 30 second fact is somethin i read recently and rlly made me more concious about handling fish thought id share 💯
@@BallaKING247 yeah your comment made me feel the same way, didn’t know the brain damage thing, that changes things
First
Green river but where on the river
Search some chum fishing videos, youll find it!
Second 🙄
Chum salmon ARE NOT called dog salmon because of their teeth. Educate yourself so you don't pass on false statements and information.
NOT IMPRESSED
Chum salmon, also called keta, dog or silverbrite, tends to be the least known of the five Pacific salmon species and receives little love - this may be because of its “dog” moniker, based on sled dogs being fed chum in the north and the sharp dog-like teeth of spawning males.
@@BrianMonticello Schooled him! Nice!
U must not go outside
