- My modification to support the plate screw on P1000 , and to give it stability..
Modification was done on a second hand Manfrotto 293 telephoto lens support, i used an angle grinder to cut it to suitable length and applied a couple of minor tweaks ... It's very stable and sturdy, due to quality of Manfrotto products.

Hi I'm a complete novice got the p1000 a few months ago watched your video and ordered a second hand 293 can you pls specify the type of screw on the end of the lens support and the cover for it please? Also is the slider easy to cut to size?
The screw at the end of the lens support is already part of 293, and you have to dismantle the top part of it and take the sliding part out (I already done that before I decided to film, so couldn't show it) also it's fixed rigid... Cover is just a piece of electrical conduit I cut to size so the slider would be a snug fit.. What I did next was measured where I would make the cut, by placing the sliding part next to the main part and marked it (near enough should be ok, as long as there is room for the slider to fit in between) then I used an angle grinder to make a cut, as its sturdy metal...
Once done I used a 3/8 to 1/4 male converter screw to secure it in place ( this is always handy to have in case www.amazon.com.au/Anwenk-Converter-Threaded-Ballhead-Shoulder/dp/B078ZF2W39/ref=sr_1_13?hvadid=274112891251&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9069219&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=b&hvrand=4820281259455499979&hvtargid=kwd-305288533863&keywords=3%2F8+to+1%2F4+adapter&qid=1569007931&s=gateway&sr=8-13 )
There are lens supports out on the market now, that will fit P1000 without any of this extra chore, but I find it very satisfying because of the solid built of 293... Hope it helps, cheers
@@BranRistic Thank you for getting back to me, I didn't initially realise that you'd cut the slider but soon discovered that when my second hand 293 arrived this morning lol but as soon as I saw your video earlier this week I saw how sturdy it was and also how good the tripod you were using looked so paused it at the correct place to see the writing on it. I don't have an angle grinder but will get it as ready as possible and mark it where it needs cutting and take it somewhere where they can cut it for me thank you for the insightful video I love the ingenuity of what you've done and achieved and was in the process of trying to find a good tripod so you've helped with that as well!! I could clearly see on the video how sturdy it is and also how well it seems to glide on your tripod so will be ordering one of them very soon as well, so a big thank you firstly for your ingenuity outstanding!! Secondly for the video I knew I needed to get one the camera shakes at the slightest thing when at 3000mm and lastly but not of least at all you've really helped me on all counts also with your advice your a star thank you very much really appreciate it
Here is another tripod, Yunteng fluid head and Vanguard legs, you can mix'n'match to suit, and not break the bank... czcams.com/video/AsqEc8e3pZ0/video.html
Where I can buy this support?
Thank you for the tip . I bought the Manfrotto 293 and cutted 4,5 of the plate but with half circule at the end and now suits perfectaly and I informed the Manfrotto brand that must cut, 4,5cm especified for this camera .
Glad it helped
This is great! I really need it for my P1000 as well.. 👍😎
Really wish they sold something like this ready to go. A completely stable tripod while zoomed is all I'm missing to make this camera perfect. Might have to give this a try.
Thanks alot for this video. I bought the 293 myself and came up with a slightly different solution. I detached the head from the frame and put the remaining part of the moveabke support frame under it. This way i can always use it as intented, but it also works for now.
Nice work!
Thank you for this! It's exactly what I ended up doing as well. Spent almost $100 on this thing so I really didn't want to have to take my angle grinder to it. I did have to use my drill to make the center rail wider at the spot where the screw would need to go to secure the head though. Only took about 10 mins.
Magnificent!
I DID WHAT YOU SAID WORKS GREAT THANK YOU.
Awesome job done 👍
Thanks 👍
that's technically so amazing, thanks alot to mr Barn Rustic
Lol, all good videographer with edges
Nice Work, I ordered the Limm Dovetail earlier today...
Will the limm dovetail work with a manfrotto 410?
How is it with the p1000? Thinking of getting this. Cheers.
Did you order the Lim's dovetail direct from South Korea? Cheers.
What is the Manfrotto piece mounted too?
Nice music
What tripods are you all using?? Suggestions please and appreciated.
Great design BTW!! 👍🏾
nice
Does this brace support the lens for moon and star pictures?
What remote are you using to zoom in and out? 🤩
Is there something stopping the slider from being put on backwards so that the lens support bracket slides on first? It "looks" like that would work, tho' there'd be the other end of the slider sticking out a bit into the air perhaps. Saves having to cut the slider if that works. What do you think?
It only fits one way, and modification was necessary.
How much is this holder and where is it sold?
Does it still work, instead of cutting that upper piece, by placing it in reverse (still in the upper side but turned of 180 degrees)?
That was the only way..
Where is it sold in USA
👍👍👍
I think your camera lens support concept is sound, but I would want the forward lens cradle to be the right height so the P1000 will sit absolutely level. 👀🤔
Greetings, I have the Nikon Coolpix P1000 and it gives me this error and it stops. THE CAMERA WILL SHUT OFF TO PREVENT IT FROM OVERHEATING. I would appreciate information on how to solve this problem. Thank you Jose Antonio
waow..bagus sekali
Id I see this well: the mount is put on your own tripod locker/slot where you normally put the camera in. Is that so?
Yes

I wantzez one! How many schillings doth thou request for this exquisite piece of Nikon CP 1000 Enhancement, Master Craftsman? I seekest thou expertise. Thou art AWESOME! Jay...
i really need something like this, but by the comments it seems like it is really expensive... i read $100... that is too much. all it would need, would be a plate/rail that has one screw at the back for the camera mount, and one at the front for mounting to a plate. then some extra height to touch the camera at the front.
i use a tripod with the screw adapter as well, and have not found a ready made product like this.
maybe i will just drill and thread a metal plate tho...
Exactly what I would of made.
Am very happy with it, its a permanent fixture on P1000
Great! You can move 5cm closer to the target!

Hello, could you make a video showing the P1000 with this lens support attached along with your tarion LCD viewfinder? Is it possible?
Thanks, thats a reasonable request, and a valid point, unfortunately I sold the P1000 along with lens support awhile ago... But totally agree, that would be a good video, along with ML-L7 remote... I still have Tarion viewfinder, sort of hanging on to it for sentimental value, also you cant buy it anymore... Cheers...
@@BranRistic Was able to snatch one on Ebay for cheap... Maybe I will do my own video with the Manfrotto 293 haha. Thanks for the videos on the P1000 that you did. You've helped me wrap my head around some of the solutions for the camera.
Looking forward to it, send me the link when you do it.
How can I buy this? I bought the Nikon p1000 my tripod is not supporting this camera. I have a nice tripod I bought fir a 600mm heavy lens so with this peice my tropid should be fine, tgank you for any info where to get it and how much?
Hi Sharon, if you did buy it you would need to modify it, and that would include using an angle grinder, other option is to google "lens support", and choose something from that
@@BranRistic Thank you!
which tripod is suitable for this support?
Tripod must be sturdy and weighted down to eliminate micro jitters, any model that you find with that quality
What make is the tripod too?
Weifeng WF-717A
Could this fit any tripod?
Yest it could, but what you have to be mindful of the weight of P1000
*👍❤
This must be good for the P900 as well
It would be, but different size, this suits the weight and size of P1000, and is very sturdy.. You can can get lens support, adaptable to any size now... www.google.com/search?q=lens+support&rlz=1C1GIGM_enAU823AU823&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiMyJPZyfPhAhXZSH0KHc1PD7kQ_AUIDigB&biw=1463&bih=728&dpr=2.63
@@BranRistic thanks for that!
Hi , what do you call that?
What specifically are you referring to?
Did you have to cut one piece to make it fit?
Yes I angle grindered where i made a motion with my finger... Still holds up well
Ottimo. Come si chiama questa testina ? Che marca ?

Bran Ristic thank you
Show US some videos , samples, how IT works
It's long sold Damian, the concept is that it make P1000 sturdy and less prone to micro jitters
You can buy a third party 140mm RC5 plates for £10 which do pretty much the same job without having to bolt loads of bits together and all the additional height - you just need to stick a thin piece of foam on the end of the plate under the lens for a bit of protective support and slide the plate back in the tripod to a suitable position and it can be left attached to the camera without much protrusion.
Maybe for a lesser zoom camera, not for superzoom 3000mm for any minor vibration or slight breeze would be detrimental for any video at that length... Yes there would be other options, but not the way youre suggesting with foam, it needs a solid base underneath.
@@BranRistic I'm talking about the Nikon P1000 and I said a 'thin' piece of foam simply to stop the plate rubbing on the camera - the stuff I use is more like rubber but when the tripod screw is tightened, it is completely squashed and it does not move. The plate is the same length as yours device but without the extra height and slid back in the tripod so that the P1000 centre of gravity is directly over the tripod. And like I said, it can be left on the camera permanently as it is very thin - just the same as the standard RC5 plate on my Manfrotto 501 head. It is rock solid.
I'd like to see that set up, could you pm me a couple of pics from different angles please... Keeping in mind we must be careful where we place pressure under the motorized fluid heavy lens, as to not create long term faults, from my point of view its all about weight distribution not being detrimental because of weight.
My AK4000 gimbal has a plate with lens support, but I wouldn't trust it
@@BranRistic I can't at the moment as the camera and I are not in the same place. The whole point of the thin piece of foam rubber was to provide support without pressure, i.e. just enough to make firm contact without pushing up too much. And like I said, it shifts the centre of gravity of the camera towards the tripod head.
@@BranRistic I don't seem able to send private messages so I have uploaded a photo.

For anybody unfamiliar with the RC5 system, the plate is slid into a slot and once it is past the red button, it is locked and then tightened in the desired position by a levered screw on the other side, so in this instance, the non-OEM 140cm plate (the standard plate is 90cm) is just past the lock zone and tightened there. I tightened the head for the photo but I think that it is worth mentioning that if the head tilt is loosened, it actually has a slight tendency to tip backwards in this position. The foam rubber visible between the front of the plate and just behind the focus ring is the type used in cheap sleeping mats (I emphasise cheap because the more expensive ones are too rigid). It is not so firm that it applies too much upward pressure on the camera but sufficient to provide support. In use, it is rock solid. I bought the plate on eBay for under £10 ($12-ish). They are sent from Hong Kong so presumably shipped worldwide - just search on eBay for 140cm Manfrotto plate.
It can, and in my case is, left attached to the camera permanently but takes seconds to attach.
Clearly, my solution is only for compatible Manfrotto heads but an RC5 adapter which can be attached to any head can be bought for about £8 ($10).
The music
what ıs your trıpod name
I call that tripod "Fred".... but you may find it under Weifang WF-717A
Great video but ditch the music!
Thanks Mandii, unfortunately had to speed video up & needed music, and beggars cant be choosers in world of free non copyright music on CZcams
I like the music :). Who is it?
Very complicated won't catch on
Fussy. The camera should have been built with telephoto-style support option.
Umm No thanks
