  • Which should you buy, the Nikon P1000 or the Nikon P950? Both are great superzoom bridge cameras but is the extra zoom of the Nikon P1000 worth its extra size and weight? Let's find out!

    Both P1000 and P950 are essentially the same, except for the weight, size and zoom range. I got the P950 because it is slightly cheaper, easier to carry around and 2000mm is good enough for me.

    The further you look the less impressive.
    You have to draw a line. Otherwise you may aswell say why get the p950 when it only reaches 560mm more than the B700.
    When you are trying to fill the frame and you maybe use a slight bit of cropping that extra 1000mm can be huge.

    while watching this video , i noticed the heat waves with the indulating/wavering/rippling effect across the entire image when zoomed in. I wondered if they(nikon,canon ,whoever) could process the image to reduce or take that out completely by taking the 'average' of each pixel and keeping it on screen for longer. There could be different levels and options for applying the effect . There could one algorithm for static pixels(parts of the image which dont seem to move much, such as the vegetation/rocky background) and a separate algorithm for the parts of the image which are moving(such as the people ) . it might also produce a slightly sharper image, which could then be digitally zoomed in on . But that digital zoom would possibly , once again produce a slightly clearer and sharper image then the regular zoom which had no rippling-reduction applied. These algorithms would be different to any handshake reduction or stabilization algorithms because the particular optical 'distortion' they are processing is different

    its a misleading using focal length as a measure.
    Since sensor size have equal importance. 24 mp Apsc to a 45 mp 5 pixel CMOS have 8 times more zoom.
    Focal lenght are per definition the lenght of lense. Clearly it is not 3000 mm!!!
    Objective enlarging are not the same as the focal length. Since it also majorly have lesser light and a lesser quality than a true focal lenght lense. Since it only uses a fraction of the focal view.
    Although that is commonly used but it is actually wrong.

    Show 👏 !!! I find it strange that 83 x 125 in practice doesn't make the expected difference! Should Nikon be lying about this larger zoom on the P1000 !

    • @mrzoom6705
      @mrzoom6705  Před 2 lety +2

      Yeah it’s super confusing. The Nikon P1000 has a 24-3000mm lens. The way all manufacturers calculate it is 3000 / 24 = 125. Similarly the Nikon P950 has a 24-2000mm lens. So 2000 / 24 = 83. Hope I explained it OK.

I've been with the 90D for a few days and I compared it to the P950 this week I'm going to buy the P1000 and decide which one to stay, it will probably be the 90D with Tamron 400mm + digital zoom surprised me in the photos (90D) in the final result compared to super zoom.

    Why not compare to a real P950, it's newer so maybe the sensor is better, the zooming might be smoother, etc.
    This is 10% of a real comparison just looking at the zoom range...thats all.
