- Hi everyone, this is Siddhant Ray here. I am a Grade IX student from Mumbai in India. I study in Jamnabai Narsee International School. Like many other kids of my generation, I am also an AI, ML and Coding enthusiast.
I have done many certification courses on AI, IOT, robotics and web designing from SP Robotics, Bolt IOT and Udemy. I got into the world of coding, robotics, AI, ML, IOT and web designing when I was in Grade VI. Since then, I have been pursuing these areas along with my studies. I love to explore and experiment in these areas. I have completed several small projects on these subjects in the last 3 years. As a 13-year-old, I aspire to make a professional future in one or more of these areas.
In this video, I shall speak about a very common issue we all are faced with while using a Gmail account. Google offers us 15GB free storage on the Google platform per Google id. As soon as you are nearing the 15GB limit, you start receiving messages to free up space or buy additional space from Google. Now, do you really need to do that? Absolutely not. You can have more than 15GB space in your Gmail id absolutely free from Google officially. No tricks, no hacks! Just a few simple steps to be followed. This video explains these steps.

When backed up ,Do the mails contain the dates too in backup mail, like the exact date the mail was received on our original mail id???

If it is showing "initial import done", it'll slowly import all the emails. It might take a day or 2 for the steps to carry out.

Yes, you won't recieve new emails on the new account which you made. Also, I wouldn't recommend you to import all emails into your backup ID since your entire backup Gmail ID would get filled with storage and then you would have to create another ID and the process keeps repeating.
This is the best useful video in this regard instead of so many other shitty floating videos.

I have applied all the steps as you said and it worked in my new GMAIL Account. But, the mails did not get deleted in my earlier mail from where I had transferred mails to my new mail. It means, the mails are available in both the accounts, and I did not get a free space in my old account. Is there any solution for this?. Pl help me out.
Hi,
Thank you for your comment. After the migration is completed, you have already created a backup of your emails for future reference. Now you have to simply delete emails from your old account to free up the space. Empty the trash bin too thereafter.
In future, whenever you need to access an old email, just go to your backup account. Pull out the email using the search option and forward it your existing Gmail account. So, the idea is to delete emails in your existing account to free up space and create a backup of all those emails deleted. Also, have a look at my latest video (Part 2 of the series), where I have shared how to migrate Google photos to the backup account. Google Photos occupies huge amount of space in the 15 GB limit.

No! Not at all. Gmail will keep importing mails even when internet access is removed and your system is shut down.

My question is, how many years this back gmail can keep transfered emails . Google can keep the .emails upto 1 or 2 years after that all will get delete , then what about backup gmail . Kindly clear my doubt . thank you .
Emails cannot get automatically deleted after 1-2 years unless you have fiddled with the settings.

You won't get those emails in your original Email ID as you have transferred all emails from your original account into your backup account. You can delete your emails from your old Email ID.

Depends on the number of emails being migrated onto the backup account. In my case, it took around 18-20 hours.

You need to delete all emails from the trash folder as well. Only then will the 15GB Storage notification disappear.

Yes! A similar method can be used where you can download all the google photos onto your mobile phone/laptop/computer. Then, you can delete all the photos from your Google Photos. You have all the photos in your device's gallery.

it says the import has not started I did same as you did
There can be 2 possibilities for the same :
1) You have to make sure that you enable POP for all mail in your original Gmail account (the gmail account which is running low on storage).
2) Your laptop/phone might not be connected to the internet during this whole procedure of importing and backing up the emails.

On Gmail, there is an option to select all emails and delete forever. In that way, all your emails will be deleted in a jiffy. Hope that helps!

Is there any way to use Google photos like this?
For Google photos, you need to first download all photos into your phone gallery/laptop C-Drive. Secondly, you need to clear up all the unnecessary files from your Google Drive and store all important Google Photos instead of the unnecessary files.
Another way of tackling this issue is to make a new Google account and storing your Google Photos on it. In this way, your photos on your original account will be safe and you'll get free additional storage of 15 GB!

First, thank you very much for your tutorial. I managed to transferred all my emails to a new account.
It took two or three days but eventually, the emails were all transferred to the secondary account and I deleted all the emails from the primary account.
However, my primary account still says that I have ran out of storage.
I can send emails from my primary account but not receive any.
When I send emails from other accounts to my primary, they are sent without a problem but never arrive in my inbox.
Do you know the reason for this problem and how to fix it?

I found the answer to my own question! Go into the trash and all the transferred emails will still be there. Also check each folder on the side and delete everything...in the end, your storage should be restored and you will be able to use your account to send and receive emails. Thansk again for your very useful video.

Sure! I am currently working on a video to get extra storage on Google Photos. It is quite similar to getting free storage on Google Drive.

Try using another phone number in that case.

Hi! Thank you for commenting! For drive files, there are 2 ways -
1) Make a new Gmail ID and store further files on the new Gmail ID you created.
2) Download all the files onto the C Drive of your computer system and then delete all of them from your Google Drive as you now have a backup of all the files which existed on the Google Drive.
However, if you don't have a laptop or carry out most of your Google Drive function through your smartphone/mobile phone/tablet, the best advice I would give you is to make a new Gmail ID which will automatically give you additional 15 GB storage space and you can then save your files on the Drive of that Gmail ID!

@@coachsapnanarayan Hi. You do not have to delete any files. You just have to import all the files and emails from your official/original Email ID to a new backup Email ID. Also, for Google Drive, if you have deleted files whose size is in KB (Kilobytes), they won't affect the storage to a great extent since they occupy minimal storage. If you delete larger files whose sizes are in MB (Megabytes) or GB (Gigabytes), it will affect the storage and increase it to a great extent. I hope you're able to get more storage after following these steps!

None of your emails will be un-encrypted. They all will have the same properties if they are migrated onto a backup account.

It is extremely tedious to carry out these tasks on phone. You can visit a cyber-café or use a friend's laptop if you do not have one. Hope that solves your issue.

Yes, you can close the PC while the files are being imported, and the next day, or in a few hours, all the files will be successfully migrated into your backup Gmail Account!

migrated my emails to a new gmail account but my original email still indicates 99% used. my new account has my original email as a sub-set under the menu on the left and oddly indicates '.05 of 15 GB used'. Something seems amiss.
If all emails have been replicated to your new backup account, you may delete all the emails from your original account. This will free up storage space from your original account. If this doesn't work, give a day or two to replicate all emails to the new backup Gmail account, and then probably all emails can be transferred!
I had a similar issue. But I found the reason. Check your google drive and google photos usage within the Gmail id. It may be filled with heavy data. If you are using this Gmail account as a default back up for you photos and other data, good chance that your google photos file is filled with data. Google drive may also be filled with data. Plus after you delete the emails, you need to empty the trash bin immediately. Else, trash bin get empty by default after 30 days.
Best is to have a separate Gmail id for data back up and another dedicated email id only for emails. Trust one of these is the reason for your issue.
