Hi kids, this is a question video... Do you still like the West? these days, that's a tough claim to make. #alternativeliving #expat #philippines #filipina #leavingusa
I've been married just over 2 years to my wonderful filipina. We currently live in Arizona. My wife is from Nagcarlan/San Pablo. This is my favorite video so far. You nailed it! Thanks!
Thankyou ! And thank you for the kind donation to the channel!! I was not sure if people wanted content from Canada but it looks like it will be ok for the short term anyways. Great tonhear of your successful union, yes I am very happy with my lady as well and am looking forward to a long and happy retirement!
Thanks for sharing and telling the truth. You are right, Philippines is not for everyone but it could be the saving grace to someone. All depends on one’s attitude and outlook on life. You obviously have found in the Philippines what you have been missing all your life. Good for you, Nelson!
Thanks Gerry! Yes..I wish I had come when I was 20...it crossed my mind then, too.

Great to see you Nelson and very good advice also. Having a great woman that loves and fully supports you as you do her is very special and priceless!! I hope time flies for you for you're return to pH.
thanks for encouragement and your perspective. I went to Mindoro in Feb '24 for 2 weeks and returned without a scratch! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am planning to go again for longer. Vancouver 63 divorced.
I like your honesty i was there for a month did some traveling met a nice Filipina came back to the states for to months selling my car pay off some bills bought a one way ticket back in October never looking back
Exactly as I did. 2.5 week visit followed by 6 months here to make arrangements, paid off my debts and cashed out. I will try to stay there when I return this fall. I have a few money trees sprouting.
I finally got everything inline and I'm going for a recon visit in October. 4 months total. Yes I'm actually going to get myself on the airplane. Thanks Nelson, always great advice.
Well, that's excellent! I'm sure you will love it! Grab a hotel noise to the airport, the cabs will get you to your destination without a hassle. We use Hotel 101. Clean nice place, good restaurant, and close to Mall of Asia. Please free to reach out when you arrive !
Hi Nelson, good to see your doing your best to help the guys out. As I have said in the past every word your saying is true. I pay $1000.00 a month Canadian for a 2 bedroom condo, all the bills, and feed 3 people as well on that in quezon City. Life is affordable there and there's no cold winter to depress you. Take care Nelson maybe we will run into eachother in Calgary sometime.
Thankyou! Since your arriving in October, Email me at Greyowl750@gmail.com with any questions you behave about arrival, where to stay, requirements, etc. Have a great stay!
The only thing I would say you might be wrong about is selling our house, you can rent it out and suggest using a good property management company. I think that's a better plan then selling and paying 66% of your profit to your boy Justin in capital gains tax.
Keep in mind, no capital gains tax on the sale of your principal residence. You will pay income tax on the rental income… suggest moving in for 2yrs if you do rent it and want to sell it in the future. Check with an accountant.
What kind of work are you doing? I saw your other video in Canada. The area is beautiful. Where is it? Hope you do get back to the PI and her real soon. Been married to a filipina for 34 years. I'm happy!
That b roll was the mountains of British Columbia..the town of Field to be exact. I wish I had met Aslie 30 yrs ago ! We make the best of everyday we have together.
Always look forward to the updates. From your experience Can you tell me or do a video on a few areas in the Philippines besides Valencia with cooler climates.
I been looking for the same - try around the Tagaytay area perhaps 5 - 10 miles E - W - N & NE & NW --- several small towns - all cooler. - - - Many near 2000 ft elevation - some @ 1000 ft. / Easy day trips to Manila - Airport - Good Hospitals.
That's what I did. I visited for 3 weeks in Febuary of 23...decided to jump in the summer, arrived back in September, got a girl, and We are happy as a pair of clams ! It's different alright...but it's nice.
The storage space I would want would be over there. But I'm not hearing much about storage lockers over there. Where could I send my balakbayan boxes to from the states when the time comes?
The best thing about a good Filipina is the fact that she will inspire you to be a better version of yourself. Food, medications, electricity. gas, electronics are very expensive here. Also, finding a spacious home to rent is difficult and expensive. Unless you are moving here for a good Filipina stay in your home country. Also, land is not cheap here.
I am 51.....Canadian....Male .. Single now... Single father without children, cause they were stolen....guess my seed was good enough but not ME.... 8 years after seperation/divorce. ect. THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE PLACE I WANT TO BE.....to write a book Or a song........or pretty much anything...... THANKS for ..............real insight....Period....2024 7 months in....
I saw stuff in the Philippines which I don't even dare telling to my fellow Canadians by fear they won't believe me. Like what I saw in a place they call "wet market".
@@SouthPaths He boy. Can't even compare. Based on what I saw, dignity doesn't exist outside malls in the Philippines. It exists, but only for super rich people. Most Filipinos want to leave for a better life and we can't blame them. I don't think it's a good idea to move in a country where most people want to leave. There are way too many problems down there. Not just the Philippines. A friend of mine just went to spend 2 weeks in Mexico. He said many people were angrily staring at him. After 8pm he couldn't go out. It's too dangerous.
Well... you better stay in Canada then..stay safe. I spent 9 months in the Philippines, 1 guy...1...flipped me the bird in all that time. I'm sure you will be happier in the snow. Cheers!
Hello Nelson I have been watching your channel for a mouth or so. I find myself in a similar situation as you but my divorce is still going on almost three years now. I’m in the GP area and have found the Philippines intriguing. 1000 dollars a mouth sounds unreal for country living which I would prefer. I do have questions about taxes when you leave Canada and I’m guessing you are not collecting a pension yet. I have a bunch of questions about living over there seeing how I am getting tired of the west but maybe my divorce has tainted my view of it. Anyway I enjoy your videos and congratulations on finding a wonderful Filipina wish you all the best
Filipinos are so Family oriented theres a saying there if you marry a Filipina you married her whole family too, to those expats want a Filipina wife if you not accept that better not to marry a Filipina
Agreed. In for a penny, in for a pound. It's tradition. Don't mess with tradition. If you have a few extra dollars, you should morally be willing to give something. You don't need to shower them with money. Just help.
Fascinating monologue. I must say that you did not mention the elephant in the room: Men who are completely dysfunctional and would not stand a chance at finding a woman in the west...these are the ones who often flee their countries. Self-awareness can be helpful in the long term.
Actually...yes..that crossed my mind post edit..there are many men that are socially awkward but I hope the kind nature of a typical province girl might take the rust off of him.
Hello Nelson! I sent you a personal e-mail but it bounced back saying it "has been blocked." Love your videos; I'd ask you to keep them coming but I know you're too busy paying attention to the road.
Online..she picked.me, factually..6 months of online and then flew to meet her for 2 weeks, 7 months later I moved over for 9 months, now back to work the summer and return..
You are fortunate to have an employer which enables you to follow your deep desires like you are doing. I really liked the 2 br somewhat new apartment you had/have over there. > ''If'' - that life is only costing you $735 = $536.91 today - and 'that' is unbelievable in 2024 - for 2 people ! -- Amazing !!! - - - My SS in the US is a bit over $1500 (2100 CAD) and I'm quite content alone. I just can't seem to get my life down to a suitcase and no wheels !!! -?-
@Dutchy-1168 I'm definitely quiting..but cannot cold turkey...I would need a padded room for 3 days. So, I'm down to 3 a day now...then cut it to 1 or 2...and then put it down.
Why dont you move her in canada life is better there, you know the culture in the Philippines they are so family oriented and theres a saying there if you marry a Filipina you married her whole family too! And to those expats who cant accept that better not to marry a Filipina
Oh I know what you mean...and that's perfectly OK with me. I support her 1 sons young family a little each month. Nothing I can not afford. It's ok with me, many disagree, but it's the way I is here. As for moving her to Canada...nooo..I have no interest in living here in Canada full time...way more expensive than helping family and living there.
When in Rome, do as the Roman's. I am a guest here in the Philippines, and I don't forget that. Blend in, or you won't be welcome. It's simple, and it's fair. I have more than my neighbor , I should be willing to help a reasonable amount. It's simply fair.
