TheRcSaylors I am the 309th viewer
Your Chanel is awsome, Abbie is cool, usually when a couple do videos , ones always annoying, you two are so nice, I'd love that plane for my son for Xmas, he's 16 n we only have cheap drones, I'd love this 👍🏻
Rc saylors can you guys tell me a good waterproof hobby grade rc car/truck under 150$
Mine lasted 5 minutes, hit the grass and ripped the tail rudder off. Doesn't seem to have replacement parts available. So I guess I paid almost $100 for 5 minutes of fun.
I would recommend buying something with replaceable parts.
I'm really disappointed with this product
Easy fly rc
Because of y’all, I “flew” and “landed” (lol) an RC plane for the first time today. I’m normally into drones and bashers but I snagged a Volantex Mini Trainstar on sale just to see if planes are as fun as y’all make it look. Despite the 10mph winds, I chunked it into the wind and instantly became hooked. I hope you guys continue the beginner series. It’s been very helpful. I’m definitely buying the transmitter you recommend when I’m ready to graduate to the next level. Thanks so much for your excellent, entertaining, and educational content. You guys are awesome. I’ll be supporting y’all in some way soon.
Nice review of a nice beginner rc model aircraft that is also fun to fly. One thing: primary altitude input is throttle, not the elevator. One of the first mistakes in flight training is not understanding controls rotating the aircraft about their respective axes and the primary role of thrust. Another is keeping aileron input in turns resulting in too much roll. And, of course, not coordinating rudder in turns to prevent slipping and loss of lift on the wing. Each plane will have its own peculiarities which require learning how to accommodate them. Old USCG HC-130H and HU-16E driver (and "frustrated palm trees", i.e., helos), sends.
I absolutely love the micro planes... so much fun
100% agree my friend 👍⚓😎
I have shifted to mostly micro scale. They continue to improve the small planes. With the stability systems in them, it doesn't matter any more. The detail is getting better on them too!
Take the landing gear off and put a piece of packing tape under the nose..looks awesome, and won't tip over on the landing..when this video came out I ordered mine..still looks brand new..not so touchy on my dxe radio..love it,I love your channel..thanks Abby and Nate..
Omg and you could put mini pontoons on it for lakes and stuff
I agree that launching with right hand is more natural. I have been flying rc for over forty years and flown quarter scale sport planes yet still love flying the Champ in my back garden. Love the channel folks.
My daughter and SiL gave me a Champ for Christmas last year. It was the first fixed-wing RC I ever had. I flew it that day, sort of landed-ish (no crashing but I had to walk a few lawns down to retrieve it). One day last summer, I took it onto the circle. It went vertical, then it came down vertical. 10 or 12 feet, I reckon. Landed directly on the point of the nose cone. Did not even flinch. I thought I'd ruined it, but it didn't even need repair. Now I have 10 fixed wings (give or take). I still can't fly them to save my life, but I'm gonna get there. :)
Oh, and I didn't realize the right stick handled the rudder and elevator. That's unusual. Gotta remember it.
Just fyi Nate, I I am new to the Hobby and I throw all my plane with my left hand and use my right on the elevator and ailerons to correct any problems immediately.
Love watching all your guys videos and have to say you are definitely one of the pages that got me into the hobby find a way making it easy for me to understand thanks a lot guys
Nate the wings are concave shape which will only produce lift when the plane is upright. If they are turned upside down then you will push the plane into the ground as you have found out during this video. Thanks for all you do. Have a great evening
I'd like to thank you two saylors for this video. I watched this back in late may (2020) and ordered it that night. I have to say it was the best money I've spent on recreation in a long long time. I flew it once for about 6 or 7 minutes then charged the battery and flew again for about 8 minutes before losing control of it due to too much wind. It ended up in a tree but I did get it back the next day. I enjoyed those two flights so much I went right back to hobby zone and ordered another plane or two....smiles. Thanks again.
Never flown before but my friend REALLY wants me to get into the hobby. After seeing this video, I just went and bought this plane and extra batteries. I have really enjoyed your channel, which is just want we need during these uncertain times. Keep up the great work!
How is this channel as popular as it is?
Pretty high quality videos and frequent uploads, they should have more subs
I taught myself to fly with a Champ! It was a long learning curve for an old newby! I got a lot of walking exercise! I still fly it ocasionaly if I've had a long layoff from flying! I don't unferstand why they discontinued it. Near everything is now unafordable!
And I hand launch EVERYTHING with my right hand! Trimming for proper flight is the first thing the newbie needs to learn. Mine porpised badly out of the box!
People may not be aware that the Champ RTF has hi/lo dual rate capability . The transmitter defaults to high rates , but you can switch to low rates by pushing IN the right transmitter stick . That could be helpful for beginners who tend to over-control .
Great older model airplane! Plenty of spare parts available as well. Love that you guys brought this one out for the beginner's! Nice job 😁👍
Looks like a good plane for beginners.the champ flys like a champ.maybe I could even fly it🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈
Glad to see the little Champ getting some exposure. I've had mine for years and still bring it any time I go to the field. In the summer we have thermal contests with them to see how long we can keep them in the air. It has no bad habits and anyone can learn on it. Spare parts are available and it's light enough to take rough landings in stride. Thanks for turning more people on to this amazing little plane.
I’ve owned several slow fliers, all three channel crafts (no desire to get more sophisticated) this was and is my favorite flyer. No gyro needed; very gentle and learner -friendly. I hope HBYZ never changes a thing on this now-classic.
Loved the way it flew so much i bought one. Well done guy's.
Thank you guys so much for this series🙏🏾 thanks to you two, I know where to begin with rc planes🙌🏾
I think talking about the 0 fear factor is great and what beginners need to hear. When I began I nearly quit out if frustration and fear of destroying a plane. One day I decided I just didn't care that if I crashed and couldn't fix it, oh well. That's when my switch flipped and I began truly enjoying the hobby.
That was the plane I started with ten years ago..loved it..good job guys..ten minute flight
I snagged one for $30 from someone on Market place. It looks brand new. The owner told me he only flew it twice. He said he got it as a gift and wasn't into it. I stashed it for my Grandson . When he is old enough, I will let him have it as a gift. They are a wonderful beginner plane.
Ok, you convinced me. I have a couple of years flying a Typhoon H, but have never tried with a plane. I did get realflight 9, so something to practice over the winter. Just placed my order for the plane and a few extra batteries...
The Champ was and is a big game changer...highly recommended
Amazing how well its holding up through the years. Thanks a lot for tuning in 👍⚓😎
Can't say enough about the good you try to bring to the hobby. Awesome start to a much needed series. Can't wait to see what ya bring next. Oh yeah, GREAT JOB Abby!
Thank you very much Earl, that means a lot to us 👍⚓😎
great review! i had my champ for 5 years and was teaching a friend to fly when the wind picked up and we lost it. 3 months later got a call from a guy who found it in the woods. that was 2 years ago and it still flys like a champ. (glad i marked it with my phone #.)
Very nicely explained the controls and wonderful lovely flight. Enjoyable video.
Very good first plane , these umxs are just great and very convenient to fly anywhere. These champs float around very nicely and they're relaxing to fly . Can't go wrong with these little planes.
I don't know this one. Never did see it fly.. cool cool stuff.. NC❤ MOUNTAINS🌨🌬 back yard RC.AND MORE.🏞 Thanks for sharing ..
Now. I did comment be for I watched.all the way. You got. Me.. I just love this. Plan. !!! Just know the smart charger is first. In stock hobby town:)
What a truly awesome little plane 👍⚓😎
Great Video. You two make the RC so much better showing people anyone can enjoy this hobby
!!!
Whether you're looking for your first plane, or you have been flying models for 25 yrs, this little Champ is just fun. Cheers
I just picked up the Sport Cub S 2 RTF, last night. I can't wait to get it out. I like the look of this cub too. Too bad that it is discontinued.
I've always wanted to get into it. I actually have several planes I have built years ago but only flew the one with a friend. I have a Goldberg Piper cub I've never finished and a trainer, I forget who made it its the Square PVC type. Both gas. I like the Electric plans now. I think the Sport Cub may be just what I needed to get motivated to fly again.
As soon as I can afford one I would like to try again flying RC aircraft. I look forward to watching your series for beginners.
THAT is SOOOO AWESOME!! I WOULD BUY that in a heart beat, but I have two planes now that I have not flown!! GREAT job ABBY!! LOVE Nate's launch....sorta like his onesie OVER the leggings!! Thanks Saylors for the fun and honest review! 💟👍😘
That is truly a great 1st plane! So easy to fly - and at a really good price point! And - down the road, even after getting a better Spektrum computerized transmitter, it can be added to the model list, and bound and flown with the real hobby grade transmitter!
Great video guys. It was so funny as I was thinking “Abby, turn right “ you said it! This looks like the best beginner plane for the exact reason Abby said, no fear factor.
I totally agree with you Abby, Its the correct way... thats how I hand launch planes..I had to do it to the Carbon Cub the other day, as the grass was a bit to long for normal take off..And its easy to hand launch the Cub to
I watched this last night, I then followed up on Amazon this morning 10/13/20, it was out of stock,. I call that excellent feedback of your review
Awesome! I have my first Champ RT from years ago, when they were first released, it's a little worse for wear, but still airworthy, got a second one that's never been flown sitting on the shelf.
Great video. Real practical advice, I bought on of these today off your recommendations, well done!
I bought one of these as my third plane. I put about 125 flights on it. The last flight was in too windy conditions and a gust stopped it cold about 12' off the ground. It stalled and smacked the ground hard enough to break off the rear stabilizers and controls. It's fixable but l now have the blue 4 channel Cub waiting to be flown. I hope to have the same success with it as l have with this plane. I highly recommend it for beginners.
Thanks saylors for this vid, I know it was tended for me so thank you so much, I just put this plane in my shopping cart and can't wait to get in the sky 👍🏽
I have just ordered this plain as I would like to get in to the hobby after watching your video and I have subscribed. As I live in England and it’s winter the weather isn’t that good so hopefully I can get out with this plain soon. Great video and merry Christmas to you all.
Awesome flying you two! God Bless.
I own one and they are amazing!!
I'm watching this video because you guys are awesome but also for the nostalgia. I have had that plane for about 10 years and it still works! Yes its a good beginner plane and also works inside at the gym since it will fly very slow and scale with a little practice.
Ooh this would be so much fun in a gym!! Thanks for the input Dave, as people watching will Love to know their little plane could hold up for so long 👍⚓😎
Only took me five minutes to tree mine. Was a great little beginner plane. Highly recommended.....😁
Did you ever recover it? Hope so, as it IS an awesome little budget plane 👍⚓😎
Oh yeah... Flew it a ton, then passed it on.. Into r/c cars now !
Rick Noah it’s like my sport cub. Second day of flying I managed to kite it out of sight. Great learning planes!
Hi guys! Love watching.
Great video! You guys really have me wanting to try the hobby very soon and this video helps me with taking my first step. After reading a few comments on damage that happens to the plane, and others like this for that matter do you have a video that gives repair tips that even a complete beginner can perform? If hate for my first flight to be very short due to a broken plane, but if I knew how to fix it right away that will at least get me back in the air ASAP. Thank you guys for making these great videos. I’m planning on watching the entire beginner series.
I'm pretty much still a beginner RC pilot. I have the super cub with the safe technology which I fly in most of the time but watching this video was almost painful to watch but I made it all the way. You still get a thumbs up !
A really neat plane for beginners.
Very helpful video thanks!
You guys are awesome! I would love to learn to fly one!
Advice to the beginner walmart has rechargeable batteries aa and chargers Dollar general also. I have been Rc flying for over 45 years but I am gonna get me one of these. Thanks for sharing.
Great little beginner plane. Unbelievable flight time on that tiny battery!
Love your content, always helpfull👌
I like your passion in explaining each plane or craft , and wheel product in detail and that helps the newbies as well. .
Thank you so much! Yes, I really do love this hobby very much 👍⚓😎
I didn't learn to fly with one of these micros, but I did get proficient on one. It was almost exactly like that one, and only weighs one ounce. I say weighs because I still have it 10 years later. Makes a big difference when you crash. I recently bought a big 1200mm trainer, and that 2 lb. bird comes in fairly hot. You won't cry giant tears for days if you crash this. Easier to fix as well.
Incredible flight time ❤️
I learned how to fly on this plane so hard to fly in my case until I learned how to change to low rate and it flew better on my dx6 this plane brought so much memories thanks for this video the way to throw it is the way Abby launches it
Glad you are doing this! Thanks
Great little plane, and I too love the colour! :-)
When beginners get this plane and also get extra batteries for it, they must understand that you shouldn't fly back to back: this plane has a brushed motor, which needs to cool down (about 10 mins) between flights to prolong its life-span. Flying batteries back to back will eventually burn up the little motor; letting it cool down in between flights will increase the motor's life expectancy.
Congratulations! Thanks for the input! is it easy to find the electronics? esc and batteries?
Thanks for the tip... I just got mine and have been flying it back to back... I'lll start giving her a rest between flights.
@@weprintplastic Also: don't completly run down the batteries, let them cool down before charging again, plus: don't charge them if you don't intend to fly shortly
Nice intro to RC flying. I bought one but haven't flown it yet. Been busy restoring my full scale Champ.
Super option with a low mass to weight ratio plane, results are simple, far less damage to the plane or anything it runs into.... super glad to see it
Very much agreed and well said! Thanks a lot for tuning in 👍⚓😎
Greetings from Connecticut! Perfect plane to put a camera and fly it FPV!!!!
Hello Hiram!! It feels like it has been forever since you commented!! 👍⚓😎 So glad to hear from you!
@@TheRcSaylors I'm always around, watching your videos!!!
Abby couldn't wait to have a go. This looks great for getting back into the hobby after ten years, especially now my son is showing an interest. Thanks for the great review, you make us smile ; o).
Love the informative videos. Watch them all of the time.
I teach newbies to fly.
Have used the champ some.
But mostly train on my 4 year old Apprentice. After flying my Apprentice they usually get a minie Apprentice or sport cub. Some opt for the champ. But I always explain with the champ you need a calm day. While the Apprentice will handle wind much better. Although flying the champ on a windy day is a blast if you have fairly good skill. And as I tell my students our hobby is the only one where you need sunscreen for your teeth. Because you are always looking up and grinning.
Hahaha!! I love that iceman! Need sunscreen for your teeth, lol! 😂🤣👍⚓😎 Good advice on progression. I think we will be heading mostly in that direction as time goes on but we wanted to start with almost as cheap as you can find, to show that basically anyone can enjoy this hobby despite financial limitations.
Early squad where you guys at (: FYI already have this plane ⚓️⚓️⚓️😊😊😊👍👍👍👍👍
Yo!
Lucky-Lucky! I would love to own this. 😍
Fam Jay & Other Crew in the house!!
TheRcSaylors yes yes my friends and has TheRCSayolrs stickers to on my plane ✈️⚓️⚓️⚓️
Sorry not here!
I have one and love it!!!
Love it. Im a lil new to rc airplanes. I own a couple of 2 channel flyers. Now i gotta decide
on this one or the mini Mustang. They both seem so easy to fly
They really are both very easy to fly. Honestly, you cant go wrong either way. Mini Mustang is cheaper, has more batteries, but can handle more wind. This one will have faster shipping, most likely.
Just purchased the mustang mini. Ill tell ya how easy it is once it arives
I'm going to be watching the rest of your series but I'm having a hard time not buying this little guy before I do. I can afford more but man that hits a lot of the things I was looking for in purchasing my first plane. I'll have to see what I may be missing out on with the more expensive stuff but this seems like a great place to start.
Good flying Abby!
Hope you both & baby, have a wonderful Christmas season.
Cheers
Thank you so very much Preston! It's great to hear from you! Stay warm and you all have a very Merry Christmas / Holiday Season 👍⚓😎
Now this is the video Ive been searching for !!
Fun video! Flying inverted on 3 channels can be tricky. All the controls will be reversed unlike using ailerons.
What a great little plane!
Very much agreed Scott 👍 Thanks a lot for tuning in ⚓😎
Interesting. I have this plane from the original release probably around 2010 or 11. The charger was the type using 4 double A battery that so many of the UMX planes had. None of this fancy USB stuff. I Bound it to my old DX& took it out just last week and flew it for the first time in years. Love how it flies. It sucks that It's no longer available.
Firstly nice flyin Abbey. A brilliant idea bugdjet week and a cool small plane to start and that batteryv time is great thanks for the upload guys.
Not neccesarily budget plane week. We are more focused right now with helping people get into the hobby as it is Christmas time and a lot of new people will be getting things for the Hokidays 👍⚓😎
Great video you guys! I just ordered one for my son and I to learn how to fly. I’ve been a fan of your channel because I get so much unbiased opinion. Keep up the good work merry Christmas
That is so awesome Michael!! Think it will be a Christmas present? Oh I hope so, that will be exciting!! You guys are going to make some awesome memories learning to fly together!! I know you'll both be excited to fly it, but promise us that you'll wait for a calm day for your first flight. And remember, small inputs on the right stick! 👍⚓😎
We definitely will be using your videos as our tutorials. I also purchased the XKX 450. Just got it and have not had a chance to fly it yet. I think these two planes will be a great way to get started. You’re right spending time with my son is the most important thing. He’ll have the memories long after I’m gone. I really appreciate your family values. It’s so refreshing these days.
Great video
I just purchased one of these after watching this video. I have an old Hobby Zone super cub that bought when they first came out and it’s impossible to find parts now. I wanted another 3 channel and I’m excited to have found this one again.
Cool little plane
Oh yeah 👍⚓😎
This was my first plane!! So fun
A legendary plane :-)
Sport Cub S! was my first plane.... still one of my favorites, I'd probably like this champ too.
Good choice Mike! Yeah for under $100 you cant go wrong here at all, RTF 👍⚓😎
I remember I bought my son a Rc plane from Walmart about when he was 11 and I was going to show him how to fly it , and I accidentally nose dived it into the ground and I should have known better it was a windy day but my son has never let me forget about it LoL, great video hope y’all had a great Thanksgiving 👋
I learned how to fly, with this fine little bird, and it STILL flies just fine, after all these years :) .
Great vid😊
I watched part of the video did some fast forward too. It's nice for the price
After becoming proficient then possibly bored with punching holes in the sky yanking and banking and loop the loop try this; At the park Get some roofing paper and lay down a 30 foot strip of it then weight it to the grown with some short pieces of steel reinforcement rods on the edges for a runway or landing strip. With Some club member participation say like two three, or four or five members or what ever makes for great competition for landings take offs and even touch and goes and simulated ground attack approaches by chalking up you wheels and leaving a wheel mark on the paper indicating a hit score on the runway. Keeping score makes for great competition and improving basic flight skills as well as encouraging fun for even the most jaded pros. and yet encouraging beginners. especially at this price point for a simple to fly aircraft.
Very impressed with the flight time👏👏👏
Amazing flight time!! Thanks for watching Will 👍⚓😎
-Nate
Best first plane!! And tough! I crashed mine on a horse barn roof in the winter. It blew off later in the day and a snowmobile ran over it. I found it the next morning half buried with only a cracked wing. Some glue and a fresh battery and it flew again.
Yes indeed it's all in the protection of your little princess and so many others as well.
I had the sport cub s ,same size but with safe for 129.00 it was well worth it. I donated it to my local flying club as a trainer
Due to the wing configuration as well as it being a high wing, about the only way you can fly inverted is if there is a little breeze. Fly with the breeze at altitude and pull back into a loop. At the top, press forward on your stick and hold it, but it has to be directly into the wind. If wind comes from the side, it will cause you to roll out.
Neat little plane , I got the hobby zone sport cub s rtf a few years ago, I like it on a calm day but flight time is short .
Actually haven't flown it in long time , really need to make time , but life you know 😑
Pretty amazing little trainer for that price. I have to admit, I was gobsmacked by the flight time!
Flight time is AMAZING on this plane! Honestly cant beat that price either for such a quality RC. Under $100! 👍⚓😎
Congratulations! Thanks for the input! is it easy to find the electronics? esc and batteries?
Getting one of these this weekend
2nd hand new inn box
Would the carbon cub s+ be a good plane for windy days? Where I live it’s usually always 8-12 mph winds and I want something that can handle wind. If not the carbon cub s+ what would be a good plane for wind? thanks!
Its more fun when Abby flies. Just sayin ‘ 😊 Thanks for sharing 🙏
