I love the style of it. its not like all the boring club trainers" that all look alike. Your right about getting a descent battery especially fror drones cause your not gonna glide them back when ya lose power, your just gonna land reAL QUICK where ever it is

    I've had this plane on back order for a couple weeks or so, and I've been watching videos in anticipation of receiving it (it's scheduled to arrive Sunday). Something has been bugging me and I could not put my finger on it, but I think I just did: I have the Aeroscout 1.1m RTF and I was able to bind the DX-eS radio included with that to the UMX MiG-15 EDF BNF. I don't use that config now because I have since purchased a DX-6e, but it worked. Not saying it was easy. The local B&M hobby expert tried to help me make that bind happen and couldn't. So I got really drunk and me and the internet got it done that night. I have no idea how it happened. :)
    Edit: I checked after I sobered up to make sure I remembered correctly, and the MiG still responded to that radio as expected.

    so I got one of those tiltrotors you reviewed, as a first airplane, in a smaller park. that thing is FAST especially if I was in higher throttle in drone setting- and since Im used to aircraft that can slow or stop in midair (helis and multirotors), I of course crashed it. I think I need to start learning fixed wing, and this I just ordered. I went with this one since I don't have a dsmx radio so the bigger one would end up costing me a lot more. with this one I can get over the omgtoofast panic and then move onto my vtol when I want more performance

  • @BillKisel

    I have the AeroScout S RTF which sells for $200. I feel it would be a much better plane to learn on and move up from than the Mini, BUT, I can understand the draw of just spending $100 to "dip your toe in" especially for a child/grandchild.

      It looks like fun, but wonder what this one has to offer over 3ch trainer planes that have been on the market for years, like the Wtoys 959 series. Or the brushless OMP Hobby 700mm planes, that are just a little more expensive, but 4ch, 2S and brushless, and even have a clever system that allows the wings to come off in a crash, or for easier transport. The porpoising worries me a little too, seems like CG needs some tweaking.

      @RC-Fan NL I guess the main advantages would be U.S.-based inventory, spare parts/accessories, and support. Even more so if you have a local hobby shop that stocks Horizon Hobby products. Otherwise, yes, lots of great models to choose from these days. 😁
      @Bill K Agreed!

    • @rc-fannl7364
      @rc-fannl7364 Před 3 lety +2

      @@chadpollman7970 That could be a plus, but afaik OMP (Ohio Model Products) also has US based inventory, and good customer service. 4ch brushless with the option to install your favorite receiver, or fly as RTF, make it worth the small extra investment, imho. The S720, with bigger battery, and a good radio, flies really nice. Stock it flies nice too, but bit touchy on the elevator. It has dihedral, but flies just as well upside down as right side up, loops, rolls, and has self leveling mode and acro mode, somewhat similar to AS3X.

Nice to see the birds flying along, happened to me a few times too this summer, when flying the S720.

I do have a Couple of NiHms charging tho..... Or get yet another Battery Charger that can charge more than 1 at a time..... :( Either way, I now have to get Longer Leads or the Adapters because the leads on the Zop's are like 1.5" long and the ones that came with the truck is a Y connector ( you guys know...)
    Edit: My Good Battery Chargers Instructions say NOTHING About having to Plug the Main Wires into it also along with the Balance Leads.. Unlike the B3 Charger that came with my Truck that you only plug the Balance Leads into... FFS! Had to look it up here on YT.
    EDIT: THEY SENT THE WRONG ONE! I Ordered the 120Amp, They Sent the 80Amp that Costs $40 Less. Now I am P.O'ed!

    Morning I have a question for you I just got a carbon cub S2 it has the DXs transmitter wondering how you set the trim buttons to zero you could let me know I’d appreciate it thank you and have a great day

    • @chadpollman7970
      @chadpollman7970 Před 3 lety +1

      If it is like the DX6, the transmitter produces a monotone beep each time a trim button is clicked, but has a distinctly higher-pitched beep when the trim setting reaches the neutral (centered) position. Alternately, I’ve experienced other brands using indicators like a long beep or double beep at neutral, and sometimes using beep tones that rise or fall in pitch to indicate progression toward or away from the neutral point. There are also distinct tones for reaching either end of the trim range, though again the particular tones used vary by make/model.
      Of course, with the DX6 I have the benefit of seeing the trim position indicated on the LCD display. With the DXS, you may find it easier to trim all the way to the end in one direction and then step-by-step trim back toward neutral until you hear the tone that signifies the neutral position.
      Hope that helps. 😁

    3 channel? That's a let down. If you don't want to use ailerons you dont have to. But for those who would like the extra control, having ailerons is perfect for them.

    • @rc-fannl7364
      @rc-fannl7364 Před 3 lety +1

      Indeed, and you can have something like the Volantex Sport Cub 500 for quite a bit less than this, and it does have 4ch. Like you said, you can fly it like a 3ch if you don't feel comfortable using ailerons yet. Or a little more expensive, the OMHhobby planes, brushless, 4ch, clever clip on main wings and horizontal stabilizer, and as bonus you can plug in any receiver of your liking, sbus or dsm, and fly with your main radio.

      I too noticed the porpoising. Probably needs an adjustment to the CG balance and/or pitch trim to smooth it out.

Would like to know cost for new wing, tail feathers, props, motor, etc. What flight time would a beginner just do basic maneuvers expect? How it the "vertical" performance? < kidding >
