    I crashed my Areoscout on its maiden flight. Similar damage, couldn't get a replacement fuselage so went at it with 5 minute epoxy, extra foam, fiberglass panel instead of plywood bed and eventually repaired it. Learned a lot including it's a great first plane, flys well and it's amazing what you can do with the right glue. Thanks Rob

    I did the same thing!!! However, I was a beginner (and I still am) in beginner mode and the plane wouldn’t turn enough to land on the runway in this R/C park I was in, so I panicked and made it go down, and it was similar damage to you, except, it was reparable, only one tiny nose piece flew out, and the battery holder thing flew out of place, same with the battery, and the nose gear. A tiny piece from the front of the windshield also flew off.

  • @chilarai1
    @chilarai1 Před 2 lety +2

    Yep, you were too low, especially since the Aeroscout doesn't have the best up elevator. Its also very difficult to know what the wind is doing in built up areas, especially above tree height. Good luck with the rebuild since salvaging what you can from a crash (wings, electronics in your case) and building another plane with the parts is always a learning experience and pleasure.

    Sorry to see you crash your aeroscout, I've had a few close calls as well more than often it was my fault, yes not unless your truly an advance pilot, your really have to fly high, good news thou, its only $59 for a new body with servos, I probably have logged in more than 50 flights with my aeroscout and its been with me for close to over a year, I love the plane it so docile, and so predictable. Sometimes on a windy day, I can get up to 30min flight time just gliding. Flyin is probably the most relaxing rc hobby for me.

  • @muhammadsteinberg
    @muhammadsteinberg Před 10 dny

    One of the characteristics that make it a great trainer in the air is its major flaw in landing. With no flaps, it has a long shallow landing approach.
    It is also too docile to handle winds in beginner mode.
    It's still one of the best beginner planes out there, just make sure you have LOTS of room and try to avoid a windy day.

  • @stevejohnston8543
    @stevejohnston8543 Před rokem +3

    Man I’ve had bad luck with this thing and went through a few of them. I find the nose gear and battery area to be particularly vulnerable to any hard landings. Any ideas on how to reinforce the underneath and battery tray area would be appreciated. Maybe a few layers of tape? I had breakage there on every one of these I’ve owned. Also beware of safe mode if you’re anywhere near trees, I fly at a very large soccer field and had a few end up in trees because of the room needed to turn this thing in safe mode. If you’re going to use flight mode 1 I suggest only using for take off and then flipping to intermediate,
    I’m actually thinking of getting another one because I find the price point to be the best value for the money of any RC plane. Crazy to think it’s priced similar to the flimsy UMX Timber X. Anyway yes it sure does suck to crash and take that long walk while dreading what you will see. After a few totalled planes I find it starts to turn you off the hobby. That’s why the UMX Ultrix is my all time favorite. A blast to fly (even in strong wind if you have the know how) with its incredible power to weight ratio and a simple glueing and of the nose and a broken prop if do you crash it. Finally being a pusher prop the Areoscout is loud but it’s fairly capable and If you’re a beginner I would recommend it over the Apprentice or Carbon Cub.

    Just bought the aero scout 2.1 & crash smack into a tree.
    Luckily used wooden dowels & Gorilla Glue- it flys again! Lol
    It’s amazing how fast things can get out of control.
    Now I’m afraid of getting the plane caught on top of a 100ft tall tree & can see the plane but have zero chance of reaching it etc.
    I’m a newbie & judging the distances of plane & obstacles from a distant isn’t easy.
    Flyers by flight sims is easier.
    The camera angle of the pilot is golden. Flying RC planes is so different flying it from a fixed position.
    That’s like asking Air Traffic controller to fly a real Cessna from the tower.

      Michael, I have been there too, and picking a good location is key when learning to fly. This is why it's better to fly choppers on windy days.

    This one is not good in the wind. I've had a few close calls with mine.. I only fly in advanced mode and if the wind picks up I'm done. Thanks

      Yeah I made the rookie mistake of letting my ego dictate my ability in high winds that day, along with a few other mess ups, live and learn, thanks for watching 👍🤙

    Watching the video, I felt you were doing two things that made it more difficult to fly. You were fighting the wind with a light foam plane. Also, your speed was too fast and erratic. I fly at about half throttle most of the time. But it happens. We all crash, and we learn from our mistakes. Sorry about your plane.

      Yeah it happens, this is not my first plane, I’ve flown before, I also fly helis, I just became complacent that day and made some rookie mistakes, it was too windy that day, it may look a little erratic but it looks that way when your fighting the wind, I should have waited for a more calmer day, thanks for watching 👍

    was the panic button not available?

    • @rcreviews9894
      @rcreviews9894  Před 2 lety

      Yeah it was lol, but I switched it into safe which usually works a lot faster than the panic button but not this time!

    That is not destroyed! Glue it back together and put it back in the air! I've had way worse when I was a beginner flyer.

      Yeah, sorry to hear that, just learn from it, crashing is inevitable, happens to us all at some point👍

    Add me to the list of people who crashed on the first flight. Broke the front gear. I fixed it by reinforcing the plywood battery floor with a large popsicle stick. Hopefully my second flight will go better.
