      Guys I've had quite a few RTF planes and they've all been great, i really like the hobby and would like a EDF jet(f15-f16)? My question is what transmitter should I get , I don't want to break the bank, I've seen ones that look ok for between 40-£60 by flysky, can you give me any advise on what to get please Nathan and Abby

      You are a pretty amazing pilot. Not sure If I was in the wrong mode but in default mode I couldn't do anything you did... Does is start in beginner mode or advanced mode? It was super unstable when I flew it... not sure if it was the wind or it doesn't like flying well close to the ground. I noticed the further up you fly the more stable it is. Thanks for the tips on the trimming to give it the upward lift. I will see if that fixes some of the issues I was having.

    Abby flying is always a great video. And yes, you have progressed to an intermediate flyer! Let your throttle control reflect that, you sometimes are super cautious about "going fast". Quicker and nose level is actually easier! But on his one, the key is learning to trim. Gain a lot of altitude, set about 60% throttle, and let go of the sticks. Trim out whatever starts happening, repeat. I loved this video. And by flying more, you are helping Nate build his camera skills (which looked pretty decent in this video, Nate!)

  • @av8153
    @av8153 Před 3 lety +1

    If a control surface is WAY out of trim , it's better to trim mechanically ( pushrod or clevis ) so the servo arm doesn't skew to one side too much . Then fine tune the trim in the air with the electronic trim tabs .

      A simple way to think about channels, how many things you can control on the plane. An airplane with only 3 controls is usually throttle, elevator, and rudder. Sometimes they will have ailerons instead of the rudder.

    Real airplanes also have trim adjustments as well! Ordering RC planes (or just about anything) from the US into Canada is expensive, between the currency conversion, import duty, GST, etc. it would be up around $200 CDN for me to order it in. Luckily the major RC retailer here in Canada, Great Hobbies, will shortly have this plane at $139. Not that there is much time left in the season to fly, as it is already starting to get cold here...but if they get it in soon, I might be able to get some flying in before the snow falls...

  • @josepharthurl2191
    @josepharthurl2191 Před 3 lety +2

    Nate, I have to disagree with something you said: if you need to trim more than 4 clicks, if you look at the push rods there is a section close to the linkage there is a "U" somewhere in the wire the "U" can be straightened or tightened mechanically so as you are not needing to compensate on your radio. The rule of thumb i was taught was 4 clicks of trim: anything more; fix it mechanically. Otherwise great episode!

    • @TheRcSaylors
      @TheRcSaylors  Před 3 lety +2

      Always happy to hear feedback and this is good advice! Though I've never heard that before, I can see the benefit. If you can fix it mechanically, that is usually best. However the technology is here at our fingertips to take advantage of and 4 clicks of trim really isn't that much. I'm okay with trimming even more than that on my radio, but again nothing against your method. It shows that you definitely take care of your aircraft and want them to fly as smooth as possible and I really respect that! Thanks for tuning in 😁👍😎⚓

    • @josepharthurl2191
      @josepharthurl2191 Před 3 lety

      @@TheRcSaylors perhaps at the time, at the field, click away, whatever it takes, maximize your time in the air, then afterwards mechanically trim at home so as not to be wasting time at the field fiddling with linkages: at the field more flying, less fiddling! I was taught the 4 click rule by an old flying field crocodile: these old guys who seem to live there, they all drive Cadillacs or equivalent vehicles, they smoke, including while fueling their gasser planes and while on oxygen tanks for emphysema and COPD, many are in 12 step AA. They're favorite thing is to dispense advice. As a kid at the field I lived near in NY there were lots of these guys,they tolerate my presence because I was enthusiastic and would go fetch their planes if they landed too far away, I didn't have the money for my own plane,as a matter of fact never got one until this year! I'm 45 & trying to make up for lost time!

  • @DoyleBlevins
    @DoyleBlevins Před 3 lety

    Add trim there are no need to porpoise on any airplane. It is just out of trim.. Hand off at 50% throttle should be level flight and a climb out at full on a trainer. On a sport airplane I like to fly level at full throttle and use the elevator to go up and throttle back to come down. Good flying especially with out sunglasses
