  • Timberland's 6" Work Boots - known as Style #10061 to the brand's employees or by their more popular nickname, "Timbs" - have come a long way since their release in 1973.
The Timberland boot has become synonymous with New York rap, it's for years been part of the east cost rap uniform actually.
Thanks to hip hop, the Timberland boot has gained a name and made tons of money, in an industry that they not only never intended to cater to, but actually at one point wanted nothing to do with.
I'm Nate the great from Takeflight215.com and in today's video, we'll discuss the history of Timberland boots in the rap game. From the humble beginnings of the brand to the superstar legacy status they now have in the culture.

My favorite brands of boots! I only wear Timbs for a few years now during winter. Can't never go wrong with some jeans and a pair of classic Timbs! P.S.: Keep up the good work man! I became a fan! You got yourself a new loyal subscriber! ✌❤

Hillfiger sold his company for 3 billion a few years ago . What happened to fubu or cross colors ? A minority market cannot make or brreak a company that has a solid base and good product . If it can then wheres mecca ? Fubu ? Ctoss colours and all the others ?

That’s a whole different subject, it has nothing to do with “minority markets” because different demographics wear streetwear. It’s more about how some brands make legacy status, while street has been so trendy that most fall off when the trend dies

Too hard to say who started wearing butters first. NY definitely was rocking Timbs, but they used to rock all the colors and off brand joints. DC definitely had a more muted style because we just recently started wearing clothes with colors not too long ago. For a min, all our clothes were gray, black or blue. We definitely rocked the butters with our own style from the dropsocks to the tube socks to the designer socks and even the way we laced em. NY used to either have them all clunky or either pulled tight. In DC, they were neat, not pulled or super loose. But I would never argue that we started wearing Butters first…let NY have that.

Tommy Hilfiger is also one of those fools who shunned hip hop, was outspoken against rappers wearing his brand, and yet his son grew up to try and be a rapper. Now the brand celebrates their urban consumers, I agree with you that no one is beyond redemption but sometimes karma is funny.
