- How many remember Lugz? Lugz boots came about during the 1st gen version of the work wear as streetwear days of the 90s and early 2000s.
During the height of their run, they were right up there with brands like Timberland and early day Carheart. Popping up in movies and in rap videos and magazines, Lugz etched out a spot for themselves in the hip hop hall of fame.
But over the years, they have obviously fallen off hard. When was the last time you saw someone in them? But how though, why were Lugz unable stick around like some of the other brands in the same space? Well let's find out. I wore Lugz growing up because of the sponsorship of True Crime: Streets of LA. Always thought they were cool and wondered why they fell off. Thanks man

I'm from NY and almost fell out when you said dudes used to wear their Timbs everywhere lol! I got so sick of seeing them everywhere even on the damn basketball court. Although I never owned a pair of Lugz I never really connected with the brand. And I agree that they should have branched and tried to become mainstream rather than relying on Source and Vibe ads to carry them.
I'm thinking of buying a pair just to wear for shoveling snow and doing errands around the way. Never realized that Biggie, Nas, DMX, Rakim, Wu-Tang Clan and other favorites of mine wore Lugz.
IDK how I ended up here but I enjoyed your storytelling man, I had no clue Lugz had such history.

I remember lugz in the late 90s and the 00s. I just figured they fell off for the same reason as other streetwear brands (fubu, rocawear, etc)

I still rock Lugz, til this day! I ordered four pairs a week back and they got to me yesterday noon. I love them still! Stylish and if you order a true work oair they last. The problem is ppl buy the $40 pair and wear them at work. Doesnt work that way. Knasas City still runs with Lugz. It was an era!. You have the cheaoer stylish boot and the bir more exoensive work pairs. Im only 30 YO and love them.
Question I’ve been thinking of getting a pair of lugs probably some red ones. Which ones would you say are good for every day ware? I know you didn’t make this video, but you seem to know a thing or two about the booth so I thought I’d ask.

Another great brand that got ruined once they blew up. All these lines were at their best when they were more underground. Once the big garmento money got behind them the lines crashed and burned.

Never wore Lugz, had and still have Timbs. Timb wheats are still good quality but seems like Lugz are not well made now. I don't think they are even real leather. Sad to think that they fell out while Docs are still popular (and uncomfortable blister machines) and they never changed much as far as looks.
They went thuggy, thuggy is out...lugz are out.
