Finally finished polishing the gtmx! Waiting on a fork from FB but I’m going to be using an old Judy. Still waiting on a cantilever gear gab!
You can’t lose motivation now! I love the vids and it feels weird without them :(
I love how you live with both metric and imperial units so easily and can transition smoothly back and forth between them. I’m an engineer in the USA and a firm believer in the metric system but sadly stuck in an imperial world.
Also - I feel like every upgrade you make to Mr Relatable, the bike becomes less relatable lol. I’ve never seen a gyro on a full suspension bike aside from your channel but I do love it!
yeah I do feel like Mr. Relatable isn't really the best name for the bike anymore
I've been selling lots of Kona bikes with those TRP mech/hydro brakes, and they work surprisingly well. I think fact that they have an isolated reservoir makes them a little easier for newbie hydraulic brake users to maintain their own brakes before they bring them in to the shop.
I enjoyed that gear gab!
Hell yeah brother!
Dang that's a cool looking bike
Th o-rings are there to keep the dirt out. It's also best not to grease plastic bushings. Silicone grease can work, but keep an eye on it and regrease a few times each season. Nice video as always!
Not that long ago, this episode would have come out on a Tuesday
Back in the days of "Subscribe or Threat"
What a unique build, great stuff 🤙🏾 and straight out the gate coming in hot 🎙️gear gab! Love it💯
I thought that was an exceptionally good gear gab.
Have you ever considered a mini velo? I wouldn't do a fixie with 20" wheels personally, but I think these brake combinations would work really well with a single speed mini velo as well, and you have the breadth of experience to pull off some really neat tricks on a small wheeled road bike like that I bet.
Thanks, Eric I enjoyed the explainer gear gab. I've found hybrid cable-actuated hydraulic disc brakes to be a great solution for me - the ease of maintenance with the power of hydraulic pistons. I've had no issue with modulation either. Perhaps they're not for everyone, but they work well for me. I don't miss the brake bleeds.
Hybrid cable hydraulic brakes sound good 👍
Hold on... I've missed a few Gear Gabs, it would seem... I thought the red one was "Mr Relatable'? Now it's single speed with cable actuated discs to one lever through a detangler?!?! When did that happen?
Mr Relatable is lookin' sick!
Meanwhile, in what is normally fat bike heaven, we've had hardly any snow. No worries, the fat bike works great with studded tires on the rough icy trails!
I think the o-rings on the bushings keep dirt out.
How come you started with the JuinTech M1 vs the R1? R1 is short-pull for road levers so could be OK option too right? Any reason to go TRP over JuinTech? Great upload and fun content. Cheers,
I am curious as to why??? cable actuated hydraulic brakes? O.o
So you can have a gyro and center drill and use WHATEVER lever you want(within pull limits).
These are also great for cargo bikes, Ebikes(levers with sensors to shut off the motor) and tandems.
There's only a few offerings on the market, the TRP Hy/Rd and their mountain version, and then I think Yokozuna is the brand? But I'm only aware of 2 brands that make cable actuated hydraulic. It's not "the next big thing" it's definitely a niche offering in the market for niche purposes.
video idea: put a rear hydraulic disc brake on your BMX.
Mr relatable is no longer relatable at all hahah
Hell yeah brother!
