    I return to continue my Japan bike trip. The weather is turning colder and while the Autumn leaves are amazing, I have to camp in below 0°C temperatures for the first time in my life.
    In summer 2017, I finished my job and set off to cycle Japan from north to south. Cape Soya to Cape Sata.
    This is the 2nd video from my Japan bike trip.

    Very nice stuff. At 88, my cycling days are history (and perhaps, I will be history soon), but I love to read of these adventures. Gears to you!

      Thanks a lot Donald. I was actually unsure whether to post these videos, but it means a lot that others are enjoying watching them!

    Great to watch these videos. I like your easy going style. They will serve as a great reminder for you in the years to come. I rode back from Okayama through India, Thailand, Laos, Malaysia and across the nullabour to Adelaide in 2008. I wish I had taken more video. Off to watch#3...

      Thanks a lot!
      Yours sounds like a great trip! I'm hoping to do a longer trip and see more countries by bicycle next time.

    For some reason, I have no sound on this video (unlike the other three videos documenting this trip, which I enjoyed very much). Edit: See the provided link now....

    Hello Ciaran! I plan to climb Mt. Yotei along my way. I'm worried leaving my bike and belongings at the campsite trail head while hiking. I was planning to stay at a lodge or hostel before hiking just to secure my stuff I don't need to carry up.

    • @CiaranRawlinson
      @CiaranRawlinson  Před 6 lety +1

      I wish I could have climbed it! But the snow arrived earlier than expected. When will you be there?
      Yes, better to find a place to keep your stuff safe. Although I sometimes left my belongings in my tent and they were fine.

      Around mid August. I trust my stuff will be ok but yes maybe a place to keep it secured will guarantee. 4 days Hostel and 22 days on Bike/camping.. my plans was to start from Chitose Air Hostel ride south Rt. 16 to Lake Shikotsu/Toya---Niseko Mt. Yotei (climb)----Otaru and then head north to---Rebun---Rishiri (climb)---Cape Soya. From there the remaining days I will ride south back to Chitose Air Hostel then fly back home to Guam. Routes back still planning. Hope all goes plan and weather permits, unfortunate you had so much clouds and bad weather on some your rides (expected in Hokkaido) but your ride was awesome especially the Bear encounter! Regardless of weather im fine both ways. I want to see Bears but I don't think I would have time to ride that far and back. I'll know when I get to Cape Soya. Thanks for the replies and feedback Ciaran! I appreciate it and will help a lot on my tour :)

    Nice vid! I'm going in early July for 3 weeks. Out of curiosity, do you recommend I bring a stove? Or is it manageable without? I'll have an ultralight bikepacking setup.

      @CiaranRawlinson  Před 2 měsíci

      I prefer having a stove but it's definitely doable without, especially in summer.
