The scary thing is that it works. It successfully gives their base a convenient defense to attach themselves too, even if it makes no sense. It succeeds in outraging democrats with their gaslighting. Finally, it results in a lot of nonsensical arguing and complete disbelief and then little ends up actually happening. Republicans vote in ways that support the president and still get to go home to a republican base that supports them.

The point of having two main political parties is so that they can balance each other out. There are some instances where one side is objectively right, like with the environment protection efforts needing to be stepped up, but such cases are few and far between. Usually politics isn't black and white, just varying shades of grey.

on the one hand I can see that: 1. the trump chumps got their jobs back, in the coal mines (instead of training for virtually any other job);
2. trump is continually undermining everything that has been a US "given" - and this delights them! Things like free speech, democracy, healthcare rights, political stability, and of course climate change. Hard to argue with food on the table, and a place to go (away from the ankle-biters).
On the other hand: these are not the brightest bulbs in the barrel - they cant see that they are being screwed over by trump behind their backs, they don't have the capability understand that the economy is on a "cocaine high" which if continued to be allowed, will destroy their savings, investments, and the world's economy. Most importantly, trump is only in this for himself and will throw ANYONE under the bus for more money and power. Joke's over - trump has to be stopped!

@chellebelle914 I'm with you, I'm in a place full of northern retirees and at least going by the couple hundred I met, they aren't worried about sparing feelings or saying something considered confrontational, they seem (again the ones I met) more honest because they're straight to the point and aren't afraid to be themselves and speak their mind. Much different from the people I've been around most my life and I love it and I'm picking up on it myself!
