What a day! Today cost me thousands in equipment but technically I didn't fall in the canal though 😂 I did manage to save the clips to make this video and navigate my way home without Google Maps but I lost everything else on my phone including lots of videos of little Johnny so I am pretty gutted about that 😭Three guns in five minutes was insane so we will have to come back for sure! So heart breaking when you lose photos. The good news is, once you get your new phone, you can take many more. Have you ever seen those key chains, that are retractable pulls? 🤔 With a little ingenuity.......?
Get a good Cloud service for your phone and you'll be set if it ever happens again. A days loss of footage is bad but losing precious memories is worse. Happy Huntin!

You might want to put a dumby string on your equipment something like what you'd use to keep your mitts attached to your jacket . From personal experience I always lost a mitt without that dumby string !

Gutted for you Leigh but I've messaged twice now about putting a line with karabiner around your gimbel & tie it off like you do with your magnet line, but make sure the line is pretty tight so it can't fall into the water! You can always easily put a shortener knot in the line to quickly & easily adjust the length to suit each site
Time to put some sort of a float on your tripod. Maybe a piece of a pool noodle or foam pipe insulation?

You can buy waterproof cases for iPhones and still mount them to a stand or add a float attachment. I’ve used them for scuba diving and in your case with an external mic the audio won’t be impacted

I would love to do this in my local rivers but so much wood and logs in the river . I learned that from fishing and getting snags all the time. Only small fishing boats go on our rivers. The rivers flood hard some times and metal that gets washed in to the rivers. The Susquehanna river. It starts in Cooperstown NY and down to Virginia and then the ocean. The American Baseball hall of fame is in Cooperstown . You got some great places to go magnet fishing. It sucks you had to go in and ruined a lot of Equipment. Dry up and have a Great Day.😊

You can get things that loop onto cameras and phones that float. I have one for my underwater camera and it acts as a wrist band too. Definitely worth it considering your phone seems to love swimming!
You poor guy!! I think you're lucky that Joopie was able to get your phone and then you were able to send him what you taped. That part was great!! You need a super construction type of phone built for accidental dives.

I have been binge watching so many of your videos over the past 2 weeks, I love your attitude, no matter how many empty safes you find, the next one is just exciting.
Something I have wondered about with you forgetting to tie off the end of your rope, have you ever thought about putting a small float on the end of the rope so if it goes for a swim the end will at least say afloat for an easier recovery.

I think it's time for you and Nicky and the baby to take a break and have a really nice relaxing vacation:)❤ You need to run home and open up your phone and then dry everything out for a couple days before turning it back on. Running wet batteries will kill your device - turn them off, open them up asap. Also, Amazon makes durable waterproof cases...invest.

Hi mate , i know it's a bit late but with your track record of losing phones this maybe a good idea lol , try to get hold of some polystyrene and mould like phone life jacket and even paint it orange.. So if "when" it goes in again at least your be able to retrieve it right away .. make it so it can detach of course .. also on cracks use some grease it will buy you some time to get the phone back .. anyway just an idea ..

I was expecting to see a boat turn up on the end of that steel cable. You could try a small bucket with some concrete or quick set cement in it and some kind of fixture on top that you can attach the camera stand to.
