well...ITS A PROVEN SCIENTIFIC FACT THAT WHEN A PERSON ALWAYS USES strong language hes of high intelligent level. like me!! im a goddamm brilliant asshole u fuckheads!!! 😂😂😂😂
This guy is a very intriguing person, and the way he speaks so eloquently makes you want to listen to him all day. Oh, and he also plays a mean guitar.
Of any guitarist who denies playing air guitar in the mirror, David is the ONE I believe. In the video One Slip (wayyyy underrated song) he sorta takes the ONE and ONLY dance step of his entire career! LOL
0:23 Easier than piano? Whoa, David...Anyway, what I really like about these legends is that they're so laid back and all the cared about really was getting the guitar into their hands and just playing. No bullshit. Just a pure love for playing and making music. I've got a feeling that if you walk up to Gilmour and shred at 200 bpm 16th notes, he won't give much of a shit.
I agree and see eye to eye with so much that David says. Especially about the guitar being the most holistic instrument. I started my career playing drums. I studied charts as a 12 year old for a couple of years. Played professionally for over 10 years. I had a calling to move over to the guitar. Playing the drums though gave me a fundamental foundation that I would recommend every musician to start playing drums. It made it much easier when I jumped over to guitar.
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️David Gilmour je toliko meni ljep a šta drugo ja sad mogu nego da ga gledam i slušam ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️. Svjestan je David koliko njega žene obožavaju 😶😍
Wow, I remember watching this interview about 30 years ago. I think it was a radio station that did it. Thank you for finding this gem. 2 thumbs up, dude.
Probably the handsomest man in rock history, but not flamboyant like other British rockers. Casual dress on stage and as far as I know he didn't jump around or do sexy moves ;) I actually saw a doc. one time about British progressive rock with a lot of interviews and one guy (Mont Campbell of Egg) said something like "No, we weren't very sexy on stage anyhow I'd have been rather unconvincing. Could you picture me doing pelvic thrusts while playing in 5/8 time? No".
Classy, Ted. I think your behaviour makes you vain. You could have decided NOT to get so riled up by an innocent comment, and shown some maturity while at it. You chose not to. You care about the appearances, and you feel that the current appearance is that you're somehow a badass for acting so tough in the internet. :D
God, Ted....you're really all twisted up by how good-looking David Gilmour is and how much women admire him, aren't you? Relax. It's got nothing to do with you. His handsome face is not affecting your life in any way whatsoever. By the way, you keep using that word "vain" - I don't think it means what you think it means. Kasia (and other women who comment on Gilmour's looks) are not being "vain" in their admiration. Check out a dictionary and try again.
Not really, they were all around each other in the late 60s when all the bands they were in at the time were either headlining events or they’d be on the same event, beck, Clapton and Gilmour were all round each other back in those days.
@freddy David Gilmour is many things but I wouldn't call him "pretty". I do know he's very hot handsome, beautiful, sexy, shy, talented, GOAT GUITARIST, and GOAT SINGER! If only he would have danced around the stage like Jimmy Page while playing Guitar~ that would be wild! 🎸🇬🇧❤️👏🎸💙🎶👏🇬🇧
Piano is MUCH more difficult! The superimposition of modalities is like playing chess on multiple boards. Guitar simply involves moving up and down the scale, as opposed to rearranging the geometry of the scales and playing different modalities in the same spaces.
Who said a damned thing about limitations of the guitar?!? If anything, my words hint at the breadth of potentialities on the guitar, vis a vis other instruments. The difficulty of piano is due to the limitations of piano, and not the other way around. In any case, I'm referring NOT to the potential for virtuosity, but rather to the structural limitations of the music itself. Therefore, there is nothing to do be gained by bringing in references to any particular masters. I prefer the guitar playing of David Gilmour, to all the piano music that has ever been played. But that's not relevant. This didn't have to be any sort of an argument at all, but apparently you were itching to name drop - so, there you are then. Excellent.
He was fishing for more sexy answers.... the fucking moron. Anybody with a brain would have known by then, that David Gilmour was not gonna grab that bait! He wanted him to say inanities, like, "Yeah! I wanted to swing a guitar around on stage, and get 20 slags backstage after the show"....not happening, fool.
Dear David Gilmore I'm watching you on CZcams telling your story about learning the guitar about Pink Floyd. Rock around the clock, Bill Hailey. The Wall Live in Berlin! Pete Seager.:) The Worm/ GOD
Another strange view..I don't perceive him to be "coked out" here. If he is, indeed, on it here he comes across pretty subtle, I think. I've been in the company of people who were..including myself..and this is pretty controlled in comparison! ❤
It is true that the main songwrtools are piano and guitar. Even if you write on a bass, your piano is the main tool that gets the song arranged, at least for me.
- why guitar? -it's more easy than piano He was right! I actually have already played both instruments and i can say piano is way more harder than guitar
It ended up fine enough , but you get 10 minutes with David Gilmour and your first question is "Why the guitar??" Do you ask Leonardo DaVinci "Why the paint brush?" Fred Astaire "Why dance?" Willie Mays, "Why the baseball bat?" Jeez, this interview was right after Pink Floyd finished The Wall tour! I can only assume the agreement was no Pink Floyd discussion. David is a master and a gentleman. BTW Dave, ask Paganini if the violin by itself isn't enough.
He's so well spoken it always feels slightly strange when he curses.
Lol.....it's quite jarring.
sbjkd he said “fuck” exactly like the average American would say it, so I’m not sure what you’re talking about.
well...ITS A PROVEN SCIENTIFIC FACT THAT WHEN A PERSON ALWAYS USES strong language hes of high intelligent level.
like me!! im a goddamm brilliant asshole u fuckheads!!! 😂😂😂😂
C'mon, don't fuckin' BUUULLSHIIIT me!
@@bumblefritz I'm British too, IMO he just enunciates normally.
His only flaw is that he got old. Such perfection should stay young forever. In a perfect world.
Unfortunately many of our rock and rollers are passing away several times a week. It makes me realize I’m 71, and getting older fast.
perfection is an illusion.
This guy is a very intriguing person, and the way he speaks so eloquently makes you want to listen to him all day. Oh, and he also plays a mean guitar.
...and loves to drive in his Jag-u-ar.
He has a great way of talking. Very peaceful and considered. As a narrator he would be excellent.
That was the greatest start to an interview of all time
I love how he starts this interview by saying: "Shut the fuck up"
I must've missed that part.
OMG, what an delightful smile he has - even when swearing, he still looks adorable.
Sounds like a nine-year-old who just discovered a new curse word.
Gilmour is always providing more than what’s asked of him.
I adore listening to this man speak.
4:23 he's so humble and delightfully boyish about his signature style, everything he says melts you
Gorgeous David Gilmore. So talented and articulate. 💕💐
Only Dave can say "Shut the fuck up" and not make anyone mad and look so cute saying it!❤❤❤❤
he's beautiful
@@bluebellbeatnik4945 I have often said that he is THE most beautiful man I have ever seen.💗💓
@@kittyvaughn76 and he has the most beautiful dimples!!!
He's the only one who can say STFU elegantly
he's the best fortnight player
Interview was in1981, next to last show "The Wall Live" in Earls Court.
Of any guitarist who denies playing air guitar in the mirror, David is the ONE I believe. In the video One Slip (wayyyy underrated song) he sorta takes the ONE and ONLY dance step of his entire career! LOL
He probably stood in front of his bedroom mirror holding an electric guitar like a cricket bat pretending to be Dennis Compton.
He's hot as hell here
If he's a cocky, what can we say about Roger Waters...
Amen
Eh a little cockiness but that's okay with me because he's hot 😍😘👌🔥
He's hot as hell everywhere and anywhere.
LOL...yeah that's why I love this interview of David because somehow his cockiness makes him even sexier!
0:23 Easier than piano? Just a pure love for playing and making music. I've got a feeling that if you walk up to Gilmour and shred at 200 bpm 16th notes, he won't give much of a shit.
Yeah. David is about pouring your soul in your guitar playing, not that chicken-shit and show-off (shredding, tapping, 200 bpm into oblivion) games.
Yep, true story, he doesn't need to rush up for the right notes; he's found them already. Easily, the most elegant rock guitar player of our time.
I agree.. guitar is much easier
I like how humble he is! Roger could learn a lot from this.
He looks so damn gorgeous here...
Never gets old
The UNIVERSE is best described by Pink Floyd music. Gilmour's playing is very special in deed.
he really likes that pencil
He did lines. Pencils make lines.
80's fidget toy.
Wish I was that pencil.
Anyone would listening to a bunch of boring, redundant questions.

Such a gorgeous man 😍 and that accent 🥰😘
And he speeks French fluently with a delicipus little accent .This interview was cruelly short..
yeh he is gorgeous. gorgeous is a good word.
He hasn't got an accent...... he's pretty much RP
Just fabulous!! ❤😁👍

Melt. He's the most beautiful man I have ever seen. Wish I could have been in his future Sigh.
I say DG and Benjamin Orr in their primes were thee most handsome musicians on the planet
yeh he's beautiful
I never realized this but this was just a few weeks after the final Wall show in June 17 1981.
His prime.
Nice guy!
His kindness shines though. He was so kind to Kate Bush - helped her get started. So pleased he did.
thanks never seen this before
A True English Gentleman always... and Always, as well,,, the Greatest Guitar Player of Et3rnity! ;) :D \,,/
It’s funny he mentioned Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck when both of those artists later played on Roger Waters’ albums.
Not really, they were all around each other in the late 60s when all the bands they were in at the time were either headlining events or they’d be on the same event, beck, Clapton and Gilmour were all round each other back in those days.
Empty your wallet and they might play for you too if it's the right price
Legend has it that pencil ✏️ escaped and is living quietly amongst the trees in Brazil
Wow what 10 years did to Gorgeous Gilmore’s hair !
He was a sooo handsome in his twenties .
The young mega Star
Until he drops. Glad to hear that.

Wow. You missed out.
David Gilmour was certainly gorgeous in his younger days. He is brilliant. He was amazing, and well spoken. ❤️🌹❤️

He's pretty!!
David Gilmour is the 'Statue

His impeccable beauty is second to None! He was very modest and never flaunted his looks.

@@julesrose7738 Many others have described him as "pretty" or "beautiful".....to each their own....
I agree with him guitar is easier than piano by a long stretch
Nah. Piano is easy. It's the most basic expression of western music.
I don't agree actually. Piano is a lot easier, especially for beginners.
Piano is MUCH more difficult! The superimposition of modalities is like playing chess on multiple boards. Guitar simply involves moving up and down the scale, as opposed to rearranging the geometry of the scales and playing different modalities in the same spaces.
No. The Piano is the easiest instrument in the world. Try telling Stanley Jordan your theory about the limitations of the guitar. That would be funny.
Who said a damned thing about limitations of the guitar?!? If anything, my words hint at the breadth of potentialities on the guitar, vis a vis other instruments. The difficulty of piano is due to the limitations of piano, and not the other way around. He looks like a Greek God
That beggining
Glad to know that Hank Marvin, being a Joeboe didn't let his "religion" affect his brilliant musicianship.
What horrible questions. The interviewer clearly didn't know anything about England in the late 50s early 60s

July 6th 1981? So this was about 3weeks after The Wall Tour ended.
