    This is my second bike besides my Trek Stache 9.8 2017.. just freakin' love it..
    The 9.8 already was something special but ever since i have this one this is the one i ride most of the time..
    Bought it about 6 months ago and everytime i ride it its just a rush.. sooo much fun!
    You should give it a try.. you won't be disappointed.

      Also had a hardtail Stache, mine was the aluminum 7 model. It was fun, but nothing like this bad boy. This full Stache is so much fun that for the first time ever, I don't even get exited when other new bikes are revealed, because I'm just happy and don't want anything else. ( it's a good thing too, I've been through 8 bikes in 2 years trying to find the "one")

    Great full Stache review James. Thanks. New to your channel, glad I found your write ups.

  • @oldmanjeepingandbiking9621

    wow, 34 LBS!!! mine is around 29 after changing wheels to the Bontrager line pro 40 carbon and going tubeless as well as changing the bars to some carbon race sixc. Gotta say I love this bike after tweaking it just a bit. Ive stopped riding my other bikes since I picked this one up in August. it just works well for the way I like to ride ( I like slow obstacle ridden trails)

    Looks good. What is this like if you change wheels to 2.6 or less tyres to use as more traditional setup? I was thinking that this would make a great do it all bike with 2 sets of wheels

      Jamesthebikeguy I was leaning more towards the stache. Why do you say Fuel? Fuel is carbon whereas the stache is aluminum and 2.6 vs 3.0 tires. Any other major differences that I’m unaware of? Is geometry a lot different?

    Really hope Trek, has some intelligence, and brings-back the FS Stache. SRAM SX & Deore, with a price suitable for those passionate riders that cannot afford prime components and over-hyped carbon.
    Have taken the rig on epic tour rides of over two-hundred miles. And that's a 250. Have replaced Rockshox with Suntour TriAir. The down-to-Earth priced shock, has had no problems through an entire Winter and so far...hot Summer. The Bontrager wheels, being made of lighter material, and thinner walls, aren't reliable for hefty riders. Switched to Halo Vortex, which are heavier, and less likely to fail. I use the rig mainly for light trail riding and commuting. Very confident. Trek, like every brand nowadays, seems infatuated with only producing heavier bikes(e-bikes), and bikes with excessive amounts of travel. Best-of-all. The Trek Stache geometry, is much more comfortable & responsive for tall riders than the Trek Fuel. Oh. One more thing: Awesome video.

    • @oldmanjeepingandbiking9621
      @oldmanjeepingandbiking9621 Před 5 lety +1

      That was another thing I upgraded immediately. At 285 lbs, those brakes couldn't stop me in the bike shop parking lot on the test ride, let alone a trail. I just added ice tech 203mm rotors front and rear and changed the pads out for another brand that I can't remember now. The biggest change came from the way I bled them though. I used a small piece of cardboard that was a bit thinner than the brake rotor and bled them with that installed, so the resting point of the pads is much closer to the rotor, providing a much shorter throw at the brake lever to get them to engage. They work great now

      the difference between the two are essentially just brand names. some professionals swear by fox 36's whereas some swear by the pike. the fox 36 is literally only one millimeter thicker and that really doesn't matter much to the average joe looking for a nice bike which is 99% of riders.
