This has to be one of the best commercials Toyota could ask for. I really enjoy this.
it's hardly a commercial
@@cameronupshall4327I understand that, but it could be.
Like some clips
100% man. Every accessory they use just happens to be right in the configurator. On top of that they added 3 commercials into the commercial.
The more of these videos I watch, the more I want to change my TRD Off Road order to a Trailhunter.
Pro's and con's! It all depends on what you want to get out of it. However, we have found that the Trailhunter leaves us wanting nothing.
I don’t think you can order one yet. I looked on the Toyota website the other day to price and build one and it (Trailhunter) was not there.
@@garretlewis4103 you 100% can put in a reservation order at your local dealership. Did mine yesterday just waiting on MSRP to be released.
Thank you for joining us on the series so far! The 2024 Tacoma is a powerhouse.
🤣🤣
As an avid Land Cruiser fan & owner of the 80 series, this is the first time I’m more excited about the Tacoma over the new mini Land Cruiser. It’s a complete package from the factory! I’m jealous 😊
I love this video. The best commercial Toyota could wish for. Top notch. Love it❤
It’s funny you guys beat on this Tacoma and TFL broke theirs trying to go up a small rock ledge. Haha 😂
TFL may have got one that was built on a Friday
I also think that’s very funny but I bet XO’s was hand picked for them.
TFL's breakage wasn't exactly due to abuse. It was a failure of the vehicle, however you want to frame it.
The TFL problem is part of the process of a new vehicle. At the end of the day these are machines and machines break. The real beauty is how Toyota is responding to feedback which is incredible. That’s a major part of their internal company culture. The problems of today will lead to better trucks tomorrow. Literally that fast sometimes.
@@Clay_Croft as a single data point, I don't actually believe that the TFL failure should be read into by anyone. If it becomes a common problem, or part of a list of common problems widely reported, that's one thing. Right now, it means nothing, and similar one off breakages/issues happen with all vehicles at all levels of quality and price. I'm just not a fan of how people who don't like TFL for whatever reason seem to try to pin the breakage on their use of the vehicle, which was very clearly not abusive.
Only truck video my wife has enjoyed so far! So excited to get one of these and you both do a great job. Thanks for giving us a good example of married couple 😂
What a great video. That's a beautiful Tacoma. Ready for trails off the lot 👍
Whoa! That was an intense downhill!! 😂 thanks for sharing! 😊
"Man this thing has so much power!" --Said by no one ever about a Tacoma (or 4Runner).
The 2024 is changing things!
@@ExpeditionOverland Wait till I get my Ranger Raptor and put a tune on it. It should be way faster than my Bronco Raptor, but I doubt it will beat my Shelby Baja700 Raptor. Keep an eye on that front diff, apparently people are already breaking them going uphill in snow lol. Also can't wait to see how much cutting that plasticky front end needs to install a real metal bumper.
Well, seems to me that 320something horses and 4 hunderded some pounds of torque should be enough for what they need. Unless they have started building Nascars or drag racers sense I last watched them. If so that would be different. I used to watch their Overlanding video's and it seemed to me like Toyota's worked fine for them. Not saying that Toyota is the ONLY brand that works, just that it seems to work fine. Hopefully the extra power will make it even better. Although they probably don't need a track vehicle. Its amazing to me the kind of power they are getting out of these small motors nowadays. The 01 Dodge I used to have had a 360 V8 that had less power than some of these modern 4 bangers. If it hadn't of needed so much work I might have kept it. But I was trying to be responsible.
@@BearMacTXDon't think you'll need a tune to beat out a Tacoma 😂
Im hoping that this iMax engine fairs better than the one did in the Tundras....I am really anxious to possibly getting this truck
I wouldn't count on it 😢
It won’t. This engine is just as trash as the Tundras.
I'm curious about if there's going to be any performance mods will be available from the aftermarket for the hybrid.
I like that color
What’s the output of the bed outlet while the truck is off or while driving?
Question when driving sand dunes do you have it on automatic mode or manual mode the reason I ask is over heating transmission if it’s on automatic mode rather than manual mode on my 4Runner I usually have it on manual mode pick a gear which I usually keep it on 3rd gear when steep hills
Can't wait to see this on other expedition and really see what it's capable of!, always great content guys! Godbless and Godspeed
You got me on the Sasquatch joke 😅
I’ll never be able to afford one of these things, how do you feel the electric motors are going to hold up in the harsh climates you expose your vehicles to?
Trail hunter? More like the mall hunter 😂
Probably the best off-road/overlanding/camping midsize but my money will go to the TRD off-road Premium as the sweet spot in the entire 2024 Tacoma line up
4th gen 💯
I love everything about this video ❤
❤🎉 great 👍
Great video. Where is this located?
Great video! Is there an aftermarket air conditioning available for the tent?.
Also, how is the gas tank holding up? I heard it was smaller than in gen3 😢
Tent air conditioning 🤣
There are lots of options for small AC units in the aftermarket like Zero Breeze!
Pure perfection in this video
From the onset I've always gravitated to theTrailhunter.i love this thing thru & thru!.
Jajaja, Mas power por favor, ¡es verdad!, ¡Excelente!
Buy! Buy! Buy!
Woohoo! Let’s rip!
Are these the dunes in Colorado?
I want one bad and I will probably get one, but I am left wondering why an overland rig has no viable option for a front or even rear winch. I thought it was supposed to be overland ready from the factory. How do I add a winch without cutting up the front? I am confused by their design choice. Great vid! Keep em coming!
You guys should go back with the TRD Pro and see how much different the suspension is!
Soon!
It will be a much softer ride designed for rallying a stock weight vehicle. Under the weights of camping equipment RTT and fridges etc it could be out of spec. That’s the beauty of the trailhunter grade as it’s designed for these adventure weights.
Was air intake very loud?
Nice truck not sure if im sold on the 24 yet, my stock 17 been threw hell an back with no mechanical repairs yet just cosmetics lol
🔥🔥
How tall are you two? I’m 6’1” and couldn’t fit well in the 3rd gen. How does the quality feel vs a Japanese built yota? My 3rd gen taco felt cheap compared to my 4Runner, but I’d love to have a bed. Love your channel man. Thank you.
Wow!!! 🤩 🎉 awesome location and amazing video 🎉🎉!! Is this Nevada or Colorado?
Neither. It’s Idaho.
@@benjemmett6460 gotcha!! Thank you 😊
I'm a service writer for Toyota. I own a 21' Tacoma TRD off road 4x4. The new Tacoma is pretty fast. I also own several motorcycles. So when I say it's fast, it is. I also like the newest taco more in person than I ever did in pictures.
how do you feel about toyota’s choice to charge a monthly fee for remote start? and not putting it on the key? do you think everything else about the truck outweighs that really small (and nitpicky) negative? thanks in advance XO
All in all, the performance and livability changes are a massive change for the platform!
Like I’ve said, nice truck. Good luck getting one. I decided to go to the Toyota website to price and build one and the Trailhunter is not there.
Does the Trailhunter have 4wd Auto mode?
Also, what’s the payload? What does the sticker on the door sill show?
No one but TFL has showed the payload sticker & it was 1200lbs. I find that hilarious
This vehicle came without a sticker due to it being a pre-production model, so no additional payload information. Our model had 2HI, 4HI, 4LO 👍🏼
@@ExpeditionOverland that’s what I figured since it’s a pre-production. No worries!
Imperial Sand Dunes?
What's the payload sticker say for your bronze beauty? Curious if its higher than the TRD OR/Sport.
This vehicle was a pre-production, so we had no sticker to reference!
Pretty sure its 1711 lbs ~
@@Vec135 that would be great..so far the TRD OR & Sport's run between 1200 - 1270 lbs. Not sure how TH's different suspension alone could increase payload by 500 lbs but that would be nice.
@@canadoescalling1800 I thought so at least. I heard that somewhere. That Old Man Emu suspension is geared for overlanders. So it makes sense to me? Not 100% sure tho
@@Vec135 I hear ya. I remember the engineer talking about payload increases to 1700ish on the new gen Tacomas but now that they're landing...the payload door stickers are in the 1200ish lbs weight range.
Time will tell for the TH and Pro but my speculation, with the added weight of hybrid system..we won't see 1700lbs payload stickers but I will be overjoyed if I'm forced to eat my words.
I thought the trailhunter was only going to be available with the long bed...this preproduction one looks better with the short bed.
I do think they are limiting the bed/cab configurations. I just don’t know to which ones or one.
Hey is Mais potência por favor 🇧🇷 awesome vídeos guys 👏👏
It is checking all my boxes! Can you state the payload for this truck you had or was it not labeled?
Ours was not labeled due to it being a pre-production model!
@@ExpeditionOverland thank you!
I own a 3rd gen, and the whole time I watched this I was really curious to know how the transmission feels since the 3rd gen's transmissions are famously laggy/hunt for gears. It sounds like this new one is really good, and I imagine having 8 speeds is pretty nice. Hopefully, it'll hold up like the previous generations.
Smoooooth
I’m curious what gas mileage are you getting when aggressively driving in sand? Thanks!
Mileage drops significantly in loose terrain like this, so likely 10ish MPG
Almost flipped. Did that look like that truck was close to flipping on its side? (time stamp 7:57) With the driver side front side tire going up and the passenger side rear sliding to the right. That look darn close to turning over.
Was wondering if you have had any issues with the truck yet? T.F.L. just had their 4x4 break. I'm worried that Toyota is not meeting their standards. What are your thoughts? Hopefully this isn't a wide spread problem.
We pushed the truck pretty hard for a month straight with no issues at all!
I was wondering the same thing after seeing what happened with TFL’s new Tacoma.
Same question. Still waiting to hear the verdict on TFL's Taco.
So can the AC power system be used when the truck is not turned on?
You have to have the truck running to start the inverter, but it will cycle on and off when it needs to charge the battery!
Thanks XO! This has been a question no one seemed to have an answer for until now 🙌.
@@IndependenceOverland happy to help 🙌🏼
@@ExpeditionOverland Thanks! Sounds like it won't replace a power bank, but that will certainly help charge it.
How will you run house loads i.e. lights, refrigerator, cpap, electric blanket etc. on extended stays?
Is there ANY inverter wattage without the engine running?
Can you charge a separate “house battery bank” from the hybrid generator given the truck doesn’t have an alternator?
How much dc power is available from the bed outlets and does it come from the hybrid battery or the starter battery?
There must be a way to power house loads from the hybrid or it’s severely hampered as an overland vehicle.
Tacoma and power should never be used in the same sentence😂
Times are changing!
@@ExpeditionOverlandyou’re right but not for the better
Is this the trailhunter with the 5' bed or 6'? I want to see both next to each other to see how they both look
5 ft
5'!
🔥🔥🔥❤❤
Wonder if the trail hunter has stronger CV joints. 👀👀👀
🤘🏽🤘🏽
How is the throttle mapping? That is the only thing that turns me off on Toyota is the over aggressive throttle maps.❤
The new Tacoma has what feels to be a fully remapped throttle and shift points 🙌🏼
@@ExpeditionOverland Thank you for this exciting info! I am looking forward to test driving one soon now!
"With all the weight we've added so far." Yes, weight. What is the actual payload for this truck?
Not sure if you guys are aware tfl broke something in the front section which caused them no drive power to the front wheels. You guys should try and replicate the conditions they were in?..
Next week's episode explores some slow and technical terrain 🙌🏼
That sweet French press coffee maker dumping coffee all over the tailgate - where can I get one?
They are made by BruTrek! It is the Basecamp
Kudos to whomever chose the music track when Rachelle took her solo jaunt!!
@toyotausa I’d always use these guys for your vehicles! I’d buy a Corolla off this crew! 😅 thanks To them the wife and I ride around the city of San Antonio all the way to Imogene pass in our modified expedition overland inspired 21 taco and tundra! 👏@xoverland
So good! Thank you!
@@ExpeditionOverland also do a breakdown on that air compressor. Seems awesome!
When are the Africa videos come
Eagerly waiting
Starting tomorrow!
Id like to see you take it through some moderately deep water crossings.
Aren't you the Tacoma tech guy who said no deep water for hybrids on @independenceoverland ?
🧐
@@ancientorder4645 yep
Haha I'd like to see a test against the Hilux top gear drove into the ocean.
Its gonna break down
Can confirm, ours did not break down 👍🏼
ya'll left the cameraman
How much is the replacement hybrid battery? Any potential owner should be asking that…
Good god man…. this topic has been asked to nauseam levels. Toyota hybrid batteries have been lasting 15 years+….. do some research for god sakes.
Sadly the wheelbase is too long for hardcore off-roading
The wheel base is fine. It’s build for camping/overlanding and off roading. Go “hardcore” with some else then 😅
Hate all new pickups are coming with turbo motors. I love turbos in my sports cars. I’ve owned many turbo cars in my life. I want a v6 in this and a v8 in my full size.
Even though I hate trucks and all who drive them (commuting in the concrete jungle, never hauling anything, dropping the kids off at school, using up 2 spots at the mall) the looks of this have me considering buying one. (I too, will never use it for its intended purpose other than the occasional camping trip once a year)
I guess you’ll hate yourself as well . Hypocrite!!
Would you take this truck to Africa or what is already proven?
One channel on here, youtube, had bought a TRD off road, 2024...and it broke on them during a light duty hill climb. Something in the front, I think a part of the front suspension snapped. With what they were climbing...it should not have broken. Another channel had a 2024 4Runner that broke on them in several places.....not sure what Toyota is doing wrong this year....
We can only speak to the vehicle that we have driven, but we have experienced no issues with very hard use and around 2000 miles!
Everything. They’re doing everything wrong.
LMAO, the helmet was a bit of Hollywood to say the least. I'm not going into this any further than MOST loyal Yota owners would never resurface debt after this Trail hunter build. And for that reason I'm out....
Mpg
It would’ve been much better not to add the music so we can hear the engine and the other sounds of the vehicle
Watch it again and just turn on your vacuum cleaner. It’s the same sound.
They out here promoting the trail hunter when you barely have Tacomas on the dealer lots. Hell I’m still waiting on my truck
Is the Mas Power Por Favor Spanish?
It is!
@@ExpeditionOverlandI used to learn Spanish but haven't gotten far with it! What does it mean?
@@delennfire1761more power please
@@brokenwrench404Thnx!
😛Haha 11:55 - 11:59, did you think we wouldn't notice? :-P
tip - try cooking your bacon in some water - miss your videos
Can’t wait to see that power train in the new Land Cruiser
Purely here for the commercial aspect of this, I’m still going to be skeptical until at least 2 years down the line to see if it holds up
I’ve heard toyota dealerships are ripping people off, over charging customers by as much as 10,000 dollars
atleast you cant break an axle in the sand 🤣
Don't tempt fate.
I'd rather have a ranger raptor.
Wake me up when they run this thru the Baja 1000 like the Ranger Raptor. Until then it's a poser. TRD stands for Toyota Racing Development right? So race it lets see if it will make it. I don't think it will ever happen because if it breaks the image is done.
