  • SVS SB 1000 Pro - FINALLY released in 2021! Kef KC62 vs SVS SB 1000 Pro? I think the new SVS SB-1000 Pro subwoofer is a Kef KC62 killer! In this video, we will review the facts and hopefully you can determine what is the right subwoofer for you!
    The SVS SB 1000 Pro has a new upgrade 12 inch high excursion driver, 325w Sledge amplifier. As the newest addition to the SVS Pro range of subwoofers, it has the SVS Smart app, which means you can now calibrate the subwoofer from the comfort of your listening position. You can also run parametric equalisation which makes this a truly killer sub for the money.

    Great review. I would love a detailed comparison on the SB1000 Pro vs SB3000 Micro. I have seen you made a few comments here and there, and it seems they are VERY similar, with the edge actually going to the 3000 micros, despite its size?

    • @propercushty
      @propercushty  Pƙed 2 lety +3

      I think with those two models it comes down to cost/space. They will perform quite similarly and I believe the 3000 micro will have the edge in the 50hz+ bass potentially. But overall you will be paying quite alot more for the 3000 micro (especially now SVS have induced their price hikes).
      If space/design isn't as much of an issue, I'd go with the two 1000 pros

    • @macvos

    Thanks for your review of 1000 pro, it sounds like very good value. Can you get a sample of it and KC62 to try? I'd love hear your comments on the real performance of each one with a direct comparison. In my 5x4m room I do want a sub as small as possible without a big sacrifice of perfermance.

    • @propercushty
      @propercushty  Pƙed 3 lety

      I can definitely try my best Gordon. At the moment the KC62 is sold out and the SB-1000 pro hasn't officially arrived yet. But when these 2 subs are out I'll try and get them side by side.
      My room is 5.5mx3m and my XTZ 12 inch ported still struggles to keep its integrity below 30hz.
      I did have the SB2000 a couple of years back and I found it very small in my room. Tucked into a corner right next to the sofa and still sounded fantastic. The other half loved it. Only got rid because I really want movies to sound extra good, but a second SB2000 would have cost me another grand. In the UK, they're unfortunately overpriced when compared to US prices!
      If you can't wait and need a sub now, just try and get a home demo of the KC62, SB1000 Pro and SB2000 Pro. Even the SB3000 is cheaper than the KC62, and they're only the tiniest bit bigger.
      At least demo them and see what you like best!
      In any case, I'll try get my hands on these models when there is sufficient stock available!

    I do agree with you from a value point of view but as far as whether the kef is capable or not it would be better if you can get it and review it personally, I have a town house with only a small family room to work with so a 12in sub would be an over kill, 8 would probably be more than sufficient for my system.

    • @propercushty
      @propercushty  Pƙed 3 lety

      Thanks for the honest feedback. The whole point of this video was to show unsuspecting folk that better deals are available. This KC62 is simply grossly overpriced. You'd be surprised how many people have messaged me asking for my opinion because they've seen the advertising, and they believe this sub truly is going to be ideal for movies.
      I understand you live in a town house and perhaps the KC62 is suitable for you; but a 12 inch sealed sub is still very, very small..I mean, its a few inches bigger than a KC62? I would encourage you to check out the dimensions more closely and see for yourself..perhaps you're thinking of a ported 12 inch sub?
      Anyway..the KC62 is a 10 inch cube box..the SVS SB1000 is a 13 inch cube. My opinion is save the grand for a holiday lol.
      Even so, I wouldn't call it overkill, because you still have to calibrate the subwoofer gain to the correct level..just because it is bigger, doesn't mean it will blow your roof off lol. It just means it will handle the lowest frequencies with more integrity.
      But I respect your opinion and thank you again for the feedback!

    If its about performance it's about speed more speed more musical information. And if it's physics which driver moves out and then return faster the 6 inch or a 12 inch thats my question to you. and by the way you have a great point 2 for 1

    • @propercushty
      @propercushty  Pƙed 3 lety +3

      If you want a 'speedy' subwoofer, then it also depends on what you're able to perceive. The SB1000 original was plenty speedy even though it being a 12 inch. The KEF has 2x 6.5 inch but these are all controlled by one magnet, so as it is an unconventional design, it would be difficult to predict how speedy it would be.
      A 12 inch driver doesn't necessarily move more slowly compared to a 6.5 inch: it really depends on the quality of the magnet system behind it. An appropriate magnet would get the subwoofer performing just how you'd like it to.

      Hello mate, how you doing! Remember you from a few other sub videos :D
      Ah, are you still on the fence about subs then? It's a hard game my friend lol.
      Mate, I totally get what you mean about the wife factor. It's just I've had lots of comments over the past couple of weeks - some people say they want 2 subs, and sub people only 1. I've had a guy say he just bought some LSX or LS50 (forgot which) and that he is now being told ideally he should buy 2 and is therefore considering it. He said he feels sick at the prospect of buying 2x KC62 for $3000, so I kind of made this video for people who want to save a buck and get the best value possible.
      I do agree that when I make the videos I have to speak in broad terms to accommodate everybody. At one point in the video, I think I said I understand why people would want a Kc62 (like in terms of the aesthetics and/or to get a matching system with LS50). But style is such a subjective thing, and I could never really recommend a set of speakers to somebody on that basis. So I try to just focus on the facts when I give my thoughts, you know? I don't want to interfere with your marriage lmao :D
      If we were strictly talking one subwoofer, I still think the SB1000 Pro is better. My cousin has the SB1000 and he says it's great, just the issue is without the smart controls it might be a bit annoying for people who want a simple setup procedure.
      This Pro changes the game...for the price...I mean..one could literally save just under a grand and get arguably stronger bass performance.
      If you wanted to spend more and get a similar-sized cabinet, then the SB2000 Pro is what I'd recommend if it just had to be 1 subwoofer. That will knock the KC62 out of the park and it's also very versatile for music and movies.
      You could go all the way up to SVS SB3000 and you're still saving a couple hundred quid over the KC62.
      Value-wise, the KC62 is just very poor for me. But if my wife were stricter, then maybe I'd see it another way lol!
      Didn't realise about the 45-60 day trials in US for KEF. Fair play...I think that has something to do with the US culture towards customer service. In the UK, companies are a bit nastier to be honest!
      Take care my man :D

      Why would you not want 2 subwoofers? It's pretty much crucial in any room. Two subwoofers disrupt room nodes and is proven to flatten the frequency response. Eq from a single subwoofer alone will do nothing if you have a null.
      Go with two slightly smaller ones if you have to please the wife, you'll get a 3db~ boost in low frequencies from them anyhow. Or you can get a larger main one set up at front at the best location in your room for subsonics, then have a smaller hidden one in the opposite back corner for near field reinforcement.

    it’s not about spl. it’s about what people want in terms of look, technology, etcc some people buy 10,000 dollar subwoofers when they could of spent less. but it’s what they wanted. enough with this picking on the kc62. u seriously have nothing better to do in life?

      I disagree. People will not solely buy a subwoofer just on technology, unless the technology has some impact on spl/output (ie Eq, flattening the response). Also I'm sure that looks is usually less important, why would anyone buy something for much more money to perform worse because it looks pretty?
      The only reason people buy more expensive speaker equipment is because 1) it has more/better output capability 2) because it sounds better/has better tonality. You should of mentioned 2 to your reasoning instead of attacking the video maker for no reason.

      @@coldcraze yep..for me, I buy a set of speakers because it's like a musical instrument..they're meant to reproduce music or, if not specifically music, real life sounds.
      These noises from the real world are embedded in our long-term acoustic memory: our brains aren't stupid and they know when something sounds real and when it does not.
      If I were watching a movie and let's say, something blows up, then how can we expect a mini sub like the kc62 to really reproduce that?
      I don't buy a set of audio equipment because the technology is newest - I buy whatever technology works!

      If cost was no object, I buy beauty. I’d get a 15 channel Sonus Faber system anchor by a pair of SF Amati’s and Gravis subs pushed by $100,000 electronics. I’d put them in in the main living room of my beautiful yacht. As is, however, I’d like to have something that looks nice enough to not distract from all the money we’ve put into nice furniture. I’d just be happy if more of these companies would offer more finish options at this point. In fact, I got a little excited about doing in wall subs but so far it seems that an in wall that can compete with the big boys is crazy expensive. I’m now seriously considering dual (smallish) subs permanently in the living room with a gigantic Rythmik or HSU sub on wheels that I can keep in another room and roll it out for movie nights. 😊

      @@gvidas7333 no, technically RGB is a method of coding a large range of colours with only three primary colours. That something isn't a primary colour doesn't mean it isn't a colour.
