    Hi
    This car came to me wit a problem on the rear air suspension...
    After some diagnosis, and test, trace it down to a faulty suspension airbag... but was more to it... much more...

    I had the c4 grand Picasso and loved how the pneumatic rear suspension felt but had to replace the bags twice which at the time was very expensive, after replacing the air bags for the second time I decided to convert to a normal coil spring suspension and got Citroen to code the car as no pneumatic system ... good call swapping the mosfet 👍👍👍

    Great video, good fix.
    The current sensing is done inside the Wabco module. They use those 2 big copper blocks near the mosFET's in between those big fat pcb traces. They are shunt resistors (often 'Dale' brand). Each shunt resistor has 2 big high current connections and there should always be 2 much smaller pcb traces connected to it (sense lines).
    You can spot both sense lines at 29:02 on the bottom shunt resistor coming from underneath the shunt resistor. Usually the sense lines lead to a instrumentation amplifier/operational amplifier/comparator (i.e. a small IC). The general idea of a setup like this is to convert a big current into a few milli-volts that can ultimately be 'read' by the main proccessor.
    Thanks for the upload and have a great 2020 !

      Hello Sir-s.
      Replying here because I see mr.riesmoos has a lot of knowledge to.
      I am having similar problem. The whole unit costs 720€plus tax.
      In your video you mentioned that the control unit can cost as much as the relays. Would you maybe care to share where a person can buy this whole unit. Or, what are the relays to buy if one wants to replace them?
      Than you to both of you.
      And great and helpful video.

  • @Parknest

    I had problems with the pneumatic rear air suspension on mine. I came to the conclusion that it was the compressor (the thick end of £1,000 from the dealer. I wasn't going to take a chance on a used or a recon part) so I decided to do a coil spring conversion which cost me less than £200 in parts. I disabled the suspension ECU and the auto height correction in Diagbox and removed fuse F10 (15A) in the glovebox which is for the auto height correction to stop any error messages from appearing on the display. It has been fine ever since but it will generate a couple of fault codes.

    Hello, congratulations! the video and the content were done in a very professional way.
    I have a question, my Picasso is having a strange behavior ... some time is inflating and deflating at the same time the pneumatic system ... resulting in a drop-down .. sometimes for days, everything runs ok ... I wonder if a complete calibration of the pneumatic suspension + a clean-up of the height sensor will solve somehow the problem?
    As a software solution, I use DIAGBOX9.68.
    Any particular things to keep in mind ... when I will start the procedure?
    Any advice is highly appreciated.

    Hello, I have a cetarwen c4 picaso. Sometimes the servise subsension light flashes fatly, sometimes intermittently. The car was checked in several workshops and they did not find a malfunction. Some said the compressor should be changed. Some said the height sensors should be changed. Some said the electronic mind. Only at the top there is a code 1196, but it is not permanent. Is this a permanent malfunction caused by an industrial error in all cars of this model?

  • @steves7973
    @steves7973 Před 4 lety +1

    Good repair, these cars are very quirky, the least thing can throw up a fault.
    They need a good battery as a failing battery can throw up intermittent and random faults.
    The button below the height adjuster in the rear switches off the air suspension for maintenance and lights up with a red indicator.
    Citroen had a recall for the airbags for the C4 and replaced them for free but I think the campaign will be closed now.

My 57reg GPC4 feels hard on the rear but the ride is good - the compressor works for about 4 or 5 seconds on schedule and it does what it should, but on roads with a poor surface the back end feels hard. What do you think it might be? It had new bags last year so I think they are ok. Cheers.

    My 2008 c4 grand picasso had the airbag suspension spent a fortune replacing airbags only for the compressor to die 2 weeks later. Compressor was 800 euros without labour i got the full conversion done all in for 600 and never looked back still driving it how many years later

    low batteries cause all kinds of errors, one car i had would put up ABS fault on the display when i braked in cold weather as all the 4 brake lights at the back suddenly coming on would cause a quick voltage drop and scare the ecu.....

      When you remove the pipe, is there a collar you need to pull out or anything? I am under the car right now and can not get the line out of the existing air bag

    • @JonTwycross
      @JonTwycross Před 4 lety +1

      So, there is a little collar which releases the hose and on mine they had perished. So I had to carefully cut round the valve with a junior hacksaw and then pull it out the casing and then use pliers to remove the retaining clip. After that it was simple.

    Hi, I have a problem with the Citroen C4 Picasso - it displays the error U1224 but I do not have a diagnostic computer, only the OBD II application, the car does not rise - the compressor does not turn on - what could this be the reason

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  Před 3 lety

      It can be many things...
      You need to get it properly scanned, and possibly look at some live data to understand what might be wrong...
      Anything I would suggest, would be pure guess work...

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  Před 4 lety +2

      Hi
      Unless you go for the OEM tools there is really no Japanese cars software as a such...
      There is tools that work better or have better coverage on Asian cars... just research...
      For diagrams, there is plenty of choices... you can again look for the OEM stuff, or go for things like Autodata, HGS, etc...
      Hope that helps.

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  Před měsícem

      As per the video... the relay on this model refers to the module itself... as the relay is built in...
      The module, if I recall correctly, is underneath the carpet on the rear, behind the front seat passenger side... driver side for you in Portugal...
      But, I am not sure if there is different versions where the relay and electronics are different, you need to investigate yours...
