    How to do wire repairs:
    • How do I repair damage...
    Hi
This car came to me with all sorts of faults...
ABS, ESP, engine, gearbox, electric parking brake, and sometimes airbag...
On the first scan (Unfortunately not on the video...), most of the faults were for problems/lack of comunication from the ABS module...
I had this same symptoms on a similar car about 7 years ago, so in a leap of faith I went to the same place where the problem was on that other car, and lucky enough... bingo...
Follow me on this video to find out what was the cause for all the faults...
    Hope you enjoy the video.
Any questions or comments put them below.

A few months ago I bought my 1.6 HDI 2008 with 95000 cheaply from seller because of all warning lights to do with brakes, and DPF. Speedo was also not working. Took a chance on it after watching this video. Before tackling possible wiring issue though I thought it best to put into my local mechanic to run a diagnostic in case it turned out to be just a faulty wheel sensor and easy fix. Unfortunately OBD port was non responsive and still is. He was unable to find why even though power from battery is going to it. Decided then to put into main dealer as they were only going to charge me £55. Made them aware of problems and non responsive OBD. After they finished with car, told me that it needed a complete rewiring at a total cost of £4266. Said that wiring was badly corroded throughout, even they their report gave a 100% no problem r for all other functions of the car which they said drove great. They did not bother with OBD as it was pointless following the visual examination of wiring. Needless to say I was not happy with outcome. Told them where to go and that I would sort car out myself and prove them wrong. Since I had nothing to lose I stripped out the battery and the useless tape supposed to protect the wiring. Following the instructions in the video in tracing the wires, particularly the blue one to see if any were exposed or snapped could find nothing obvious..Ater spending almost a whole day and getting nowhere and being miserable I started to put everything back together. Just as I did so the blue wire came apart without effort about 25cm from the fuse. I patched it up. Started car and couldn't believe it when speedo was fully working. Ran car for a few minutes and rechecked wiring. Switched back on and all warning lights disappeared with exception of DPF. Ony driven couple of miles in car since. When I restarted car today, No DPF warning anymore but now I get faulty handbrake and esr. Even though handbrake is fully functional. Any advice to sort this out now and OBD issue would bo appreciated. But for this great video., my car would have only been fit for scrap according to the main dealer. Sorry for making post a bit of a saga but no doubt a lot of other people have been having same issues. Just take the plunge and have go yourself and save yourself a lot of money.

      That's great man... well done!
      For the obd...
As silly as might sound, check all the fuses...
If you give me more details I can check where the power to the OBD comes from...
      You check grounds first though...
However, you can still scan the car, some tools can be powered externally, and you will still be able to scan the modules....

Thank you for sharing this video.
I had the exact same problem on a C4 Grand Picasso 1.6 HDi engine. ESP warning light would come on, ABS warning light and it also said Parking Brake Faulty.
I went to get an M.O.T and those warning lights failed it.
I then went to an Auto Electrician and he diagnosed:
    ABS Sensor (£48) needed replacing/fitting (£40) and/or EGR Valve.
    The ABS supply & Fit including V.A.T £105 (£48 + £40 + V.A.T)
If that didn't resolve it, then the next step would be to supply and fit an EGR Valve.
The valves range from £110 - £200 and labor is anything from £80+ as it is located in an awkward place.
However, if you are lucky and have your own Diagnostic tools you could follow this video and see how you go. If you have an M.O.T due, beware that they will fail you with those Warning Lights.
    Good luck!
    :-)

Another THANKS from me! Was very reticent to strip loom too much but as it looked in great condition for the first few inches at each end. But right in the middle along the bulkhead behind battery the thin blue wire was corroded and severed internally. A quick insertion of a link between the break and all the errors have gone. Unbelievable! To help others I had had the following faults. ABS Fault, Brake fault, EPS fault, Depollution fault, Handbrake fault, Gearbox fault, Power steering fault. EGS Gearbox would only change using paddles from 1st up to 3rd. To get further I had to accelerate and drop into Neutral and then back into Auto mode to get 5th or 6th. Gearbox changed down fine! Speedo was just 2 dashes. ODB II reader showed lots of CAN bus errors. Blue wire sorted everything apart from Depollution error. Hopefully a reset and few miles will clear it too. MANY MANY THANKS !!!!!

I've repaired faults in this area too. As the loom runs behind the battery at this point I believe it is due to acidic vapours from the battery leaching through the PVC of the wire and attacking the copper. The battery has a nice cover that guides all the gasses rearwards and over the loom. In my case there was no communications with the ABS unit and the car was reporting EPB problems.

Hi Everyone, After trying everything that was obvious from watching endless videos about wheel sensors, Blue wires, corroded connect etc it turned out to be my front Passenger side Wheel Bearing because the Magnetic strip was faulty. I was amazed that this was giving me all the issues ie. Christmas tree lights Abs, Ecs, Auto Gearbox and more.

There is power going into the EPB ECU, not sure why handbrake won't work. It had gotten stuck on and I used the unlocking tool. @@daisyvlogs2622 Yeah, got it sorted in the end! After wasting a year or two taking it to Citroën specialists, dealers and many others who didn't have a clue what's wrong with it, it turned out to be the gearbox hydraulic motor which I replaced and it worked straight away!
Therefore, from my personal experience, if someone is encountering the problem of the selected gear showing as '-' (a dash) I would highly recommend that you first of all check or get checked the gearbox hydraulic motor and ensure that it hasn't failed rather than wasting a year or two taking it to Citroën specialists, dealers etc... Which is the exact mistake that I made.

'Hand brake faulty' & 'ABS /EPS warnings' on display. Some mention checking main dealer for possible software updates but Citroen UK want £90 just to drive into dealership, pop bonnet and plug in diagnostic. Will have a look at wiring like you but possibly a faulty EGR valve affecting parking break system. That's a £200 part and £100 to fix.

You obviously have an issue elsewhere...
Don't replace parts just because the scanner tells you... that's what most of the places do, and not always the problem is the parts... you need to test and make sure that the part is faulty, before replace...

      Hi
The ones that were looking bad as well...
Accordingly to other users, and I agree with them, looks like this happens due to the battery...

Found the fault ??? (maybe) Checked the wiring around battery, nothing bad really !! then the top of battery fuse plate, looking at the thin wires going to the separate fuse panel where you found broken wire... all looked good but corroded, so I thought I'd strip and clean all contacts,,,,,,, the 4 bloody little fuses just fell apart !!! so i have bridged them out for a test....and dash is back to normal , hand brake working .....so now to make a permanent repair..... Thanks for pointing me in the right direction ..

Malfunction of the power line or poor contact of the device with the network. "
Obrigado e força no canal e no trabalho!

Could the battery be the cause of the malfunction?
I CHANGED WITH THE SAME MODEL BATTERY.

Most likely no... but is something was braking up, while changing the battery the wires might have been disturbed, and started to give you the faults...

      @@LMAutoRepairs You may be right.
Because the technician had a bit of trouble while inserting the battery. there may be a break at that time.
      thanks for everything.

Have checked the fuses, all ok. haven't scanned it, we don't have a scanner. What connections? Battery ok. Gears get stuck in 3rd and won't paddle either way. Switch off ignition, switch back on all is well for a while as long as car stays in higher than 3rd gear. Great video, thank you
