      Have you tried looking at auto parts stores for magnets? Mechanics use magnets for all kinds of things, and they can order them too!

      I hope this helps you but on Etsy have really good magnets for your reptiles ledges. Just ask the seller if it would hold your big ledge. Awesome work you did on the feeding ledge.

    I found that burning the stryrofoam with a lighter made cool rock-looking texture. I used leftover packing styrofoam and silicone to stick it together

    I hope I get to a point in my life when I can have the time to care for reptiles again.. I miss having reptiles so freakin much but I work two jobs & go to school so I just don’t have the time😭 I live vicariously through you! Thank you🥰

      I hope you can too! It's seriously a great privilege, but it's smart to know exactly how much time you do and do not have. So good for you for thinking that way and being super responsible about that.

    I was so excited to see Sayler in your video and see how happy she is! I remember the horrific condition she was in when you saved her, and how she was so nervous for touch or any interactions and now looking at how happy she is when you give her pets/scratches! So rad!!! Makes me so happy to see! 💚💜💙

    When you painted over the magnets that could have interfered.
    BUT, you could glue a set of magnets to the enclosure wall exactly where the other magnets will touch then it will be magnet to magnet.
    The way you would do this is important! Stick the extra set of magnets to the magnets on the ledge first (to make sure they attract, not repel) then glue them to the wall. I would put masking tape or washing tape between the magnets to be sure you can get them apart.
    Just a thought...

    Anyone else peeping the outdoor enclosure girl that looks good even from a distance and we always love a video to make new stuff. It you do a few layers of silicon and a layer of ecoearth or moss or whatever over top you could do this for the hermit crabs too!

    Something that might help with the aesthetic for next time, if you're interested, is using watered down acrylic black paint to spray into the cracks and crevices before dry brushing on the highlights. Just to make the weathered look easier than going in with a thin paint brush and to look a little more natural. The Natural Herp Keeper here on CZcams has a naturalistic background with similar steps used for this ledge where they do this.

    Aww, Sayler is so sweet! You could see she was really enjoying the little head scratch or whatever! I'm actually really impressed with how the ledge looked when it was done! Where did you learn how to do all that??

    • @KristenLeanneVlog
      @KristenLeanneVlog  Před 2 lety +2

      Sayler is obsessed with rubs! lol she's so funny. I read a ton of blogs on these DIY things and watch a lot of different videos and grab techniques from all over. It's really trial and error. A lot of error. lol

    Really nicely done! I totally need that carving tool before redoing my dragons enclosure! No help with where to buy new magnets but what about hunting for 2nd hand/craigslist ledges and reuse their magnets ?

    • @KristenLeanneVlog
      @KristenLeanneVlog  Před 2 lety

      Thank you! I feel like I might destroy them trying to get them out and they'd end up costing a lot even still. Those ledges are like 30-50$ each. I wonder if no one can get cheap magnets and that's WHY these ledges are so pricey lol. The carving tool is VERY helpful! I highly recommend it!

    Hi, the ledge looks great ive been trying to find reliable magnets for mine too haha. I have a quick questing though, say I want to make my own waterdish or waterfall, could drylock clear serve as a safe and reliable way to seal and waterproof it? What concerns me is the mold and mildew inhibitors, however the drylock extreme that you used also has said inhibitors, so what do you think about using it with fish or amphibiians?

  • @banditkingofthebuns1882

    Updates on Sayler!!! She looks so much bigger

    Not bad for a first try! I like the look of it. You must have been watching some of Serpa's content- he uses the foam & drylock technique too.

    • @KristenLeanneVlog
      @KristenLeanneVlog  Před 2 lety

      That might be where I saw this stuff. I pick up ideas all over the place. Blogs, youtube etc. This technique is definitely the way to go compared to old ways I've found and tried.

      hmmm serpa is not the first dude to use drylock, there another dude ,anyway it doesnt matter, what matter is everyone share for the hobby, arent it ?
