It's too bad you need to see the other movies in order to enjoy it, though.

Age of Ultron was my favorite superhero film up to that point. Dont look at them as individual films. The characters stories arc all the way through all the movies and the relationships make sense. The Marvel cinematic universe is an amazing accomplishment.
AoU did 1.4 billion and is considered a failure....lol

How can you say that Age of Ultron did not do good business? It made over 1 billion dollars worldwide. How many movies in history made that much money? We used to say that 100 million was a blockbuster. The Avengers series has raised the bar to what constitutes a blockbuster. Please think again about your comments.

It wasn’t so much favorites as it was an essentials for an avengers marathon.
Noah Clark they are all Essential every movie leads up to the end
I think it is fitting that Stark and Cap each prove each other's comments from the first Avengers film wrong. Cap's worthiness didn't "come out of a bottle," and Stark ultimately was the one to "make the sacrifice play." Excellent storytelling.
Tony proved cap wrong within the first movie lol as well as in aou.
@@anthonygarcia8749
The same can arguably be said of Cap proving Tony wrong.
@Arron Daniels
Captain Troll 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Anthony Garcia yeah, it just pushes it to the point where it’s a literal juxtaposition. Tony DID sacrifice himself and Cap DID prove it’s not the bottle that made him, literally becoming an old man.

I love AOU... I think a lot of people wasn’t feeling it because they wanted it to outdo the first Avengers film in spectacle. But I think that this movie’s purpose was not to outdo the first Avengers but set up the future of the Infinity Saga.
My first marvel movie in theatre was Age of Ultron since then i have watched every marvel movie in theatre and best ones in 4dx
I mean, yeah. But they did it pretty poorly. Too much clunky exposition.
STH Talk to em g
The film "Age of Ultron" also was nothing like the comics event "Age of Ultron". The movie is more based on an event in the 80s called "Ultron Unbound", which was a *very* cool story and featured Avengers like U.S. Agent (a total jerk who was a Captain America replacement) and Mockingbird (aka Bobbi Morse, aka Hawkeye's first wife). "Ultron Unbound" took place mostly in the present-day type of Avengers setting (current for the time) and involved Ultron returning from space unannounced with a new way to develop synthetic life.
In the "Age of Ultron" event, Ultron successfully wipes out most of humanity. The Avengers, Defenders, Heroes For Hire, X-Men, X-Force, S.H.I.E.L.D., Valkyries, and various other super-teams are scattered all across the globe and come together to create a resistance movement that ends with Wolverine traveling back in time to prevent Hank Pym (the original Ant-Man) from creating Ultron in the first place. Iron Man didn't create Ultron.
Since it's basically a post-apocalyptic timeline they desert it once they get the fix, and the world they leave behind becomes an alternate timeline probably ruled by Ultron, a life model decoy Nick Fury, and cockroaches. They literally rebuilt reality through interdimensional time travel.
So... kinda like "Endgame" ended up being. Funny how that happens.
I really love the character moments. They were all fallible.

AOU basically read Infinity War, Endgame, Black Panther, Civil War and Ragnarok all at the same time. And that's only all the stuff we know. People like to think that Age of Ultron just kinda ran in place chronologically, but really it was the most forward-looking. Inb4 Shang-Chi's dad was in Sokovia or something for Phase Four. Plus it made Hawkeye cooler than he already was so that's always a W
+Wanda's Vision
Exactly, AoU wasn't popular at the time, but now looking back it's an amazing movie full of references. We just didn't get the references yet..
That's ALL the movie was. It didn't have a story of its own and was just a giant set up trailer for phase 3. It also had poor character development, pacing was terrible, a wasted villain that didn't do anything, pointless scenes and characters, we never got to see the AGE of ultron, and an uncomfortable romance. That's why people didn't get into it. Because it's a mess
We should all thank wanda for predicting everything in the mcu. SHE DESERVES MORE LOVE!!
She's overpowered no one really appreciates that when comparing to other heroes
She may be the very definition of a glass canon, but in terms of raw power/damage output she can deliver in a single blow - she's the strongest MCU Avenger to date, easily.
ButchiBien Vlogs oh I’ll give her some love!!!!
Everyone else's visions came true to an extent.. What about Ultrons? Can we count Sokovia as the "future event" that Wanda saw, or was she seeing even further ahead?
I love her and certainly more than Danvers.
notice how the pencil ant man flips over is the one hulk uses to flip the switches for the time machine
I don't think James Spade gets enough credit for his role as Ultron. People seem more concerned about it been the lowest grossing Avengers film (out of 4 Avengers films.) Shame we didn't.t get to see JWs full version.

IMO, the Tony dream is a realization of what would happen if he is not with them.. I think that's why he wanted to be controlled by the govt on civil war in the effort to have more things in disposal on protecting the earth rather than only themselves.. He knew he needs to be alive until that dream comes to life in order to prevent the vision he had.. That's me though js...
You're reading it too much. His fear in AoU isn't what if he dies, but it's witnessing his teammates die where he's the only one who survives. Tony signing the Sokovian Accord has nothing to do with it. He's simply blinded by his guilt at the time. It's quite simple really: he's driven by fear in AoU, and driven by guilt in CA: Civil War.
@@argop4518 ok then lol
@@argop4518 well that and he feared that if the avenger aren't staying together, they will lose agaisnt the enemy from outer space. first, he created ultron bc of that fear and it backfired. And when he expressed that fear, cap said they will do it together then. I dont want to point finger but after remember that, it made senses why tony want the avenger to sign the accord together, bc he's afraid that the avenger would break up and unable to fight agaisnt the strong enemy together (and the guilt too ofc)
I loved Age of Ultron because of James Spader's perfect voice. I get why others may not have enjoyed it but I did. The private conversations between them made it more personal and made me care more about how things might end.
Man... the hammer scene was SO good. Also the fact that Steve COULD lift the hammer (There's no such thing as being able to only nudge Mjolnir. You either have ZERO influence on it, or are worthy of fully wielding it). Steve knew he could have lifted it, but chose not to.

In the party scene, where Banner tries to lift the hammer, he tries to be a hulk and gets his hands in a specific posture. The sign that he makes then is exactly the same smart hulk makes when Cap asks him to "smash a few things on the way". Thus, age of Ultron even foreshadowed how Banner and Hulk are gonna combine to be smart Hulk in the future.
Yo I just subscribed!! My favorite moment from AOU is when Thor says "IS THAT ALL YOU CAN DO!!!" and Ultron says " this... Is the best I can do" or the speech Ultron gives and at the end he said, " the only thing that will b living... Will be metal"
A good vid... (Unlike 99% of 'MCU deep dives', which are just repetitive) very inciteful and to the point. 👍🏻
This has always been my favourite Avengers film and this basically explains why. Nearly everything that was paid off in Endgame was set up here and I sort of had a feeling that that would be the case when I first saw AoU.
This is the underrated mcu movie
Personally I Believe 95% Is A Bit Of An Exaggeration But The Foreshadowing Of Avengers 2: Age Of Ultron Definitely Paid Off In Avengers 4: Endgame! 😎😍😆🌟

I loved A:AOU. I keep seeing that movie cause there's is a lot of talking between them. I loved how they interacted.
“Age of Ultron failed to do good business” okay it made barely less than the first Avengers movie, and still made a billion worldwide.
This video is Incredible... nd i have to admit, this is the most underrated channel
I just watched Age of Ultron again last night, and this video is spot on. It actually sets up even more than this video touched on. Not just Tony's vision of all the Avengers dead, but Thor's vision in AoU was the Asgardians dying (which they do in Ragnarok) and Cap's vision was at a dance with Peggy (which of course he finally does in Endgame). It also further established Banner's fears/struggles with becoming Hulk, and sets him off in the jet at the end, and is ultimately responsible for him ending up in space and Ragnarok. And, of course, it introduced Hulkbuster, which Banner turns to in Infinity War when he can no longer turn into Hulk. Even more, AoU is heavily referenced in Civil War, as it resulted in the Sakovia Accords, while the innocent casualties of Sakovia haunted Tony into signing the accords while also creating Zemo as a villain. And so much more.
I've always loved aou. It's a solid film that sets up so many things while still being one movie with its own story. It planted the seeds of civil war, ragnarok, and the infinity saga in general and where the mcu will go from that point onward.
Glad I found your channel!!!

Yes, there are lot of things that help in building the foundation for Avengers Endgame. One was when Ultron in lab building vision says to Wanda " God throws the stone and believe me he is winding up" that can actually be a reference to Avengers Endgame when Thanos arrives to Avengers base and winding / moving pebbles/stones in wait to get the Gauntlet and snap.
Thanks. Age of Ultron now makes more sense. I've always liked the ideas presented in that movie, it's the presentation that's at fault. They should have given Whedon a bit more time to consolidate everything into a more coherent narrative.

Yes, this is exactly how I felt about that movie as well. When first watching it, I also had mixed feelings and it honestly did not impress me all that much. However, after you watch it along with movies that came later, AoU suddenly becomes a perfect piece of the whole puzzle by joining them all in a fantastic manner. For examply, AoU was a movie that first truly introduced us to the concept of the infinity stones and their true power. Obviously, they were featured in the previous installments, but we didn't really know what they are, what they are responsible for and what they can do. Tesseract was just a powerful cube, same thing with the power stone in GoG. But we didn't know the secret behind Loki's spear or that the ether from Thor: Dark World was in essence the reality stone. All of those motives were combined into a coherent and effectively executed path after AoU.

You are damn right. I actually enjoyed AoU, specially James Spader’s Ultron.
It's this meticulous attention to detail, the continuity, the Easter Eggs, that put this franchise far and above any other.
We'll be finding and discussing these connections, and exploring the depths of the storytelling throughout the MCU for decades to come.
I'd sure like to see someone with the guts and determination to apply this same commitment to building a Stephen King cinematic universe, instead of throwing out mindless adaptations piecemeal.

The first one minute was just that the 11th most grossing film of all time is a failure
"You know this church is in the exact center of the city. The elders decreed it so that everyone could be equally close to God. I like that - geometry of belief"
The thing that is really making the mcu pop for me is when current material recontextualizes old material. When the implications of a continuity of events starts to unfold it is like a magician unveiling a bit. The subtle has to be as so for it to gather the momentum necessary for greatest impact down the mountain when she comes.
The one significant point missed, was Age of Ultron was the 11th movie in this 22 movie story arch. Numbers which have deep significance.
Why are those numbers significant? I'd it because AoU was the literal midpoint of the saga?
@@issacnunez2598 Here's the thing. No one knew AoU was the mid point until the end of the saga. That End Game points us back to the AoU. To do so it makes a statement on time. Time is key for any number of reasons. That's your first clue.
11 and 22 are Numerologically powerful numbers, search it. These numbers which ties us to the planet, to our solar system, to its cycles, our psychology, our anxieties, goes tandem the climate and its changes. All this follows a pattern connected to those numbers. One might even say we've evolved so that our biology is keyed to this other order of time. I read somewhere on particules produced by the sun which had the effect of apparently reducing Geiger count. eg detection of beta and gamma rays. How this is acheive is still a mystery. news.stanford.edu/news/2010/august/sun-082310.html
But back to AoU, this story holds a warning on the birth of Ai. As a potential world ending event it's not strong enough in our minds to hold our interest, so we have instead the God-like Thanos. All the same the climax to the series is used to point us back to that other story, so that one has to wonder if AoU wasn't in fact the meat of this saga.
I love how finally someone has seen the massive significance this movie had on the whole saga 👏🙌 ..age of ultron is a master piece and massively underrated..big props to James spader ,his ultron is WICKED!!!

Hi great video ! do you think you can do a video analysis on whether the infinity war iron man armor is made of vibranium? Thanks a lot.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the hulk buster is also introduced in age of ultron which would've made no sense if we just saw it appear in infinity war without context; but also, the ending scene with vision talking to the last ultron left was really nice.
Why the hate of age of ultron when it answers all the questions on what happened in infinity war and endgame?
Rewatching it the movie sets up pretty much everything in the MCU ever since it came out.

Avengers: Age of Ultron was one of my favorite Avengers.

Honestly one of my favorite critiques of Age of Ultron.
I could see all the story possibilities with the framework Whedon built. He should get more credit. All the long hours and time Joss put into both those movies. That was a labor of love.
Hopefully when people finally become attuned to the larger story as a whole and revisit some of the older films again he will.
My favourite scene was tony Starks vision
I have always enjoyed AoU. It has some fantastic character moments. And, honestly, I completely enjoyed Ultron's characterization.
Out of the whole Avengers series, age of ultron I admit was the darkest till then.
When I first saw it, it looked more than just a movie, looked like a step towards something big, at that time, like you described, there were multiple scenes in the movie which I didn't understand at all no matter how hard I tried.
That movie had a unique and mysterious charm to itself which no other mcu movie possessed.
Loved your video, your way to connect the dots
It was also in Age of Ultron, that Antman in Endgame ask Natasha Romanof if they ever study Quantum Physics.. And Natasha said only to make a conversation.. In reference to Tony Stark having a Coversation to Dr. Banner when Tony said.. "Finally, someone who speaks English".. It was in their conversation that they were talking about "Quantum". So Tony already has an idea. When Agent Hill ask him when did he become expert in Quantum Astrophysics etc....
"When the earth start to seetle, God throws a stone at it" Ultron
