    With all due respect…not really understanding why ELLs who are not native English speakers really want to teach the language that they themselves are still learning, nor do I get why companies would want to hire non-native English speakers to teach English.
    Back when I taught English in Spain, I had a buddy from Texas who had this dream of someday teaching Spanish in a Spanish university. I told him he should instead teach English. He eventually gave up trying, since there were so many qualified Spaniards available to take those jobs.
    I often met Spaniards who had studied English with non-native speakers of English, and they always exhibited strange, quirky little pronunciations and tones and mistakenly used expressions. They were always very happy to have a native speaker, especially one who could explain the subtle, or significant, differences between English spoken in the US and that of the UK, Canada, South Africa, Australia or New Zealand.

    • @loveline119
      @loveline119 Před rokem

      Because non-native speakers can fully understand, comprehend and communicate a language. The CEF exists for a reason, and it's a very reliable system. Not everyone who speaks a second language will be completely fluent or even reach B2 level, but non-natives certainly can learn a language C2 level.

    • @2EKgn16
      @2EKgn16 Před rokem +1

      And yet, even those politically appointed "natives" do not share the same accent or language rules. Even in their own countries, there are differences and some of those accents are horrendous on the ears. The non-native is based in discrimination. "Native" does not automatically make a person qualified but these people believe what they choose.
