Thank you!
thank you for the info
Thanks, Tim!
Tim in the application it is asking for who recommended this company.
What correct name do I put down for you?
By using the link do they automatically know it is you ?
SOOO valuable, as always. Thanks Tim.
You're most welcome!
Hi Tim, thank you for the information it is much appreciated. Hope you have a FANTASTIC festive season and a Happy new year.
Same to you!
Thank you Tim! I applied and got accepted. I always appreciate your videos and that you are always trying to help online teachers find job positions.
Congratulations! Did you get hired as an ESL mentor or trial mentor? Also, I have a question not sure if it applies to you or if you can help answer. I’m an American citizen living in Turkey. Should I put my U.S. address or Turkish address on the application?
And..is it ok that my intro video is about 1 min long?
@@sarah_nary1123 Thank you! I got hired as an ESL mentor. I think you should put your U.S. address, but just be honest in the interview that you are living abroad. As long as you are available during the peak hours for students in Korea it shouldn't be an issue. I tried so hard to keep the video at the time they requested. I think I was one second over the time. I wouldn't stress about it, but if you can get it as close to the requested time it should be fine.
@@junieg3662 thank you for your response! My video was originally 1:19 but I got it down to 43 seconds 😅. How long did it take to get hired from the time you submitted your application?
@@junieg3662 I got an interview! I’ve never done a demo lesson before. I’m so nervous. Was it difficult?
So glad to hear this!!
Good to see a new video from you!
Thanks Kelly!
Thank you for the informative video. You always provide great guidance!
You're so welcome!
Many thanks, Tim. I like your not-over-the-top style.
I appreciate that!
Love your videos! Merry Christmas!
Thanks so much!
Keep up the good work Tim!
Thanks, will do!
Thank you much Tim, I want to start applying for online teaching jobs. Your video came at the right time while I was looking for a reputable company to work with. I am currently teaching in China.
I hope this works out for you!
Thank you for the info.
Any time!
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
Thanks Tim!!!💯
You're welcome Kiki - thanks for watching and leaving a comment :)
Thanks Tim.
You're welcome!!
Thanks so much!
You're welcome!
Greetings from Taipei, Taiwan on a very rainy day! I didn’t catch if they are open 24/7. Out the door in a few moments to take my early morning Qigong class in beautiful Dahu Park!
Yes, they are but peak times for the kids are when they are at home in the evening in KST.
@@onlineteacherdude1284 thank you 🙏. I just got onboard with a cram school part time. I may fill in some hours with online teaching once I know my schedule there. I’m doing what I can to diversify my income sources because teaching hours do come and go!
Thanks for that!
You're very welcome!
Really decent pay for the current market with ESL companies.
I agree!
I like it! I will apply using your link! I have been struggling to get into Outschool but they don't hire teachers who live in U.S. territories.
Good luck!
Outschool is picky about who they hire in general regardless of where they live. I got rejected by them then applied for Booknook and was accepted in the first try. I have been with Booknook two years now. In other words, if you first you don't success try someone else.
Thanks for sharing
You are most welcome
Greetings from Nakhon Ratchasima Tim!
Greetings neighbor!
Interesting. As a former VIPkid/TutorABC/51talk teacher who also teach in Korea and has a US based teaching license i'd say this might be worth looking into. Especially the trials. I shifted to tutoring mostly American students online and i need more morning hours filled. I might have to curb myself from using any Korean, though 😅
Good idea - best of luck getting hired!
What venues do you use to teach American students?
Tim, I don't know if you'll read this message, but please be advised that the on-line application process requires you to do your own video with a G:Drive link. There is no built in video platform. Also, it appears that the job of ESL tutor I believe is only available in Texas. Again, if you see this posting can you give me any clue about your own video with a G:Drive link???? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike.
Hi Mike, that just means you record a video, upload it to your Google Drive and give them the link. Naonow hires teachers from the US and Canada and other native English speaking countries (I explain exactly who in the video). Hope that helps! They can also help you with the video link - you can reach out to them directly.
Hey Tim! Great to see you talking about Nao Now. We spoke wayyyyy back about some other companies that are no longer around!
I've been with Nao Now for over two years and can't say more good things about them. I absolutely adore my students. My favorite part about Nao Now is the flexiblity to bring your own personality to the lessons.
There is no pressure to go click crazy and finish lessons. Each class is adapted to your student and you can bring in your own supplementary materials or games via screenshare. There are WAY more than 30 lessons per level. I just check and our Level 3 (for A2 students has 80+ lessons). Most of my students spend 1.5 or 2 25 minute sessions to complete a topic with me, so there is PLENTY of material to work with!!
This is an amazing option for teachers who want freedom but don't want the fuss of marketing when acquiring private students.
Nao Now is growing every single day and is continously making improvements to their own Dashboard. Being flexible and adaptable to change are important skills, but totally with it! Happy to answer other teachers' questions too :)
So glad to hear it! Thanks for sharing and yes, I do remember talking with you before.
God will bless u
Thank you.
@@onlineteacherdude1284 do you know any online teaching apps for English or apps to use a phone to teach
Thanks for the very informative video. Would you happen to know the available hours? I didn’t see that anywhere on their website and would need to know before applying. Thanks very much.
I mention in the video that the best bookings are between 6-9:30pm KST - because thats when the kids are home. Also I mentioned weekends , mornings EST, they are partnered with a US high school. They are open 24/7.
Thanks, sorry missed that. I applied for the mentor post and trying to apply for the trial as well but it won't allow me to submit. Are you sure you can apply for both?@@onlineteacherdude1284
Do they have incentive pay after so many classes taught or showing up to class? Thanks Tim!
At this point, no.
Can they guarantee a trial tutor will stay 80% booked or would it depend on the hours you agree to work? Also, if they're working with a high school, can tutors teach during the students' school day or would it be after school tutoring?
I don't know if they can guarantee anything but they want you to be booked and trial tutors see a lot of students. The high school part, I am not sure, but I would imagine during the school day.
Hi Tim,
Do you know approx. how long it takes to hear back from Nao Now once you submit an application regarding setting up an interview? Also any tips/videos on how to do a successful demo lesson?
I have no idea but they might be having a lot of applicants right now. Hang in there.
@@onlineteacherdude1284 Hey Tim! I got hired with NaoNow! Thanks for posting about this opportunity:) although I was a bit surprised..the starting pay is less than $16/hour🫤.
Greetings from Taipei, Taiwan! Do they want a classroom-type background like VIPKID did (that rhymes! VIPKID--did!)? Will they accept a virtual background since it's Zoom?
No worries about a background.
When applying I noticed education - Texas (remote)
Not sure, but follow the link and apply! - good luck.
It says on the site United states (remote) and United states Texas? How are they hiring all native English speakers if they are only looking for tutors from the United States? I'm from South Africa and I have a neutral accent, do you think they would accept a tutor like myself?
Thats not right. Did you watch the video? I said they are hiring Native English Speakers with a neutral accent - yes, go ahead and apply!
Greetings from Taipei, Taiwan 🇹🇼! Do you remember when VIPKID required something like 6 hours minimum per week? Does Nao Now require that? I didn’t notice in your presentation. 😊
VIPKid never required any minimum and neither does Naonow I don't believe.
How should I present the elevator pitch? It’s literally as if I’m talking to a potential student for the first time? What type of student exactly, a Korean child student? How old? And what’s the purpose? Fun? A specific test score?
I’ve been the co-owner of the school in Japan for the last 20 years, teaching mostly kids. I’ve also taught university classes, high school, corporate classes, and special purposes classes, both in Japan and Canada.. The way I would dress, act, and present myself is completely different for all of these.
Are they only looking for a friendly, energetic, presentable teacher for Korean children?
I really need to know the specific target and purpose before I can put together my application.
Or is the video purpose to impress the interviewer? List off my qualifications etc.
If you apply, you will have it all explained. Its not to a student :) Its a 30 second introduction of yourself so they get to know you. You're overthinking it :) Just apply and go for it!
do i apply for texas remote or usa remote, not sure thanks man
I am not sure it matters - did I mention that part in the video? I can't remember.
Do you accept applicants from the Philippines?
Hello Tim, just coming across this video. Do they hire native speakers from Africa?
Native English speakers yes, but not sure from Africa - are you from SA? Can you apply and find out. or reach out to them?
Are there any students outside the peak hours? Also, do you happen to know minimum weekly hours?
Thx!
Yes, as I said in the video there are adults and they are partnered with an American high school. No min. hours.
Hey! Question! I want to apply here but I go on vacation in September. Should I wait till after to apply? How easy is it to ask for leave? (I emailed them but haven’t heard back yet) thanks!!
These jobs don't have a min. requirement so you can apply and work or open slots when you are free. Just apply!
HI Tim! Do they hire teachers living in California?
Good question. I will try to find out the answer.
So 6pm in Korea is 5am or after here in the U.S. on the East Coast..New York.
I am not sure but google can easily tell you that one.
Hello there Tim, I have one doubt, why does having an unrelated Bachelor's Degree overcome experience and a TEFL? What do they need the Bachelor's Degree for? It doesn't make any sense, I find this to be so frustrating, is there a way around this if I have TEFL + teaching experience?
If they require a bachelors degree, there is no way around it unfortunately. I agree, doesn't really make sense!
Hi, Do you know if there is an age limit for online teaching?
I don't see why there would be but some companies in China used to limit based on laws but now that most of us are going independent, age doesn't matter!
I applied and did everything- props, cards, child friendly background and have five years of experience online esl with masters degree and I was just rejected. Do they accept reapplications in the future? If so how soon can one reapply?
I get the sense that this company does judge and discriminate based on the way you look or what you wear whether you have a native accent and good experience or not
Sorry to hear this but I don't think they discriminate at all - did you reach out to them?
Yes twice and I was ignored
Same for me! Applied last May of 2023, had all the right "stuff" like you and was rejected.
I would love to see your demo.
Hey Tim do they hire South Africans
I dont think so :(
Will you advice me to teach online Full Time
I have lots of courses and workshops you can join from my website and I also do 1:1 coaching.
Is it okay if I’m Moroccan
I don't think they hire from Morocco. I detail the requirements in the video.
Did anyone here who applied get accepted?
I just got accepted. I am also looking for people who did to see what their experience was like.
I hope you can find some folks.
I have my certificate please can u please help me get a job
I can point you to the companies that hire in my video description. but I cannot help you get a job, no., sorry.
Are they hiring Canadians?
Yes, for sure. As I said, just native English speakers.
Shooot....I know they don't accept Indians even though our English Colonial masters have practically shoved such brilliant levels of English on us. And I can speak good deal of Korean Hanghul also!
Nice, give it a try or try going on your own to teach students independently of a company if you're having a hard time.
If this school discriminates against non-native English-speaking teachers, then it's just shameful to shed light on them !
Sorry you feel that way. Personally, I wouldn't say something is shameful to share because it targets a particular group of people. I do also share companies in previous videos that hire non-native speakers too. If a company hires only those with a Bachelor's degree, is that shameful to? Where is the line on what is shareable and what isn't? Anyway, there are companies that hire non-native speakers too.
Why? Students deserve a native speaker. I was hoping this was a Chinese company.
@@user-yk4hp2zv7t Well, I think non-natives can be just as good. - often its a matter of preference and a company has the right to produce a product that their customers want.
@@user-yk4hp2zv7t Students deserve a competent teacher. I quit the ESL industry two years ago, and I am astonished that this native speaker preconception is still going on--a philosophy that actively undermines non-native speakers and skilled teachers alike. I have encountered a concerning number of students who have bought this "conversation with a native is the way to go" philosophy and it shows, especially in language certification exams. And the problem there extends beyond just grammar (the alleged "weak spot" of native speakers), but also includes vocabulary range and overall oral proficiency.
As for the "if a company hires people with a Bacherlor's degree, is that shameful?" point, it wouldn't. Companies have the rights to outline their preferred requirements for applicants and employees. However, there is a significant distinction between differentiating candidates based on degrees and qualifications, which are earned through effort and dedication, and doing so based on where the applicant is born-an inherent and unalterable characteristic. Nativity is not something people get to control or choose, and selecting candidates on this basis denies opportunities to qualified individuals who have refined their skills through education and experience.
Having said that, thank you OnlineTeacherDure for your services. You have helped me massively in my teaching days.
Why do you think you can tell a company who they can hire? They get to decide their minimum requirements. If you do not like this job move on, get over it. So tired of this entitled attitude, maybe teach your first language to get an advantage?
NAO NOW sucks! Don't waste you time!
Hi, it would be better if you detailed why and your experiences, rather than just saying it sucks. There are happy teachers there so your comment doesn't really help anyone when you don't explain why. Thanks.
