Thanks for the exercises
I started serious (sort of) exercise at 69. I'm 82 now and only walk (occasionally) and have recently started using my kettlebells every day. That seems to work better for me than the usually recommended every other day. Of course, my kbs are only 20#, 12 kg, and 16 kg. All I do are swings, and maybe a deadlift or so every once in a while, but they maintain my muscle mass and keep me moving and healthy.
Great stuff!
Thanks for sharing and inspiring us! - Gregory

Great !!!-
I find it sad people usually stop exercising as they pass middle age. All these nonsense excuses "Im too old for that" and then they wonder why they have pains around their body and they are tired all the time
I bet you're really good at blowing candles out
I’m 80 and six months. I just started doing squats with two 16 kg kettlebells, or with a 16 and a 20 . I can also increase the weight with 2 kg kettlebell buddies which attach to the bottom (got my kettlebells from Punch Kettlebell when they were making them in Rhode Island and their kettlebell Buddy was a innovative idea). Also have begun doing deadlifts with the same weight. My aerobic training is on a Concept 2 erg rower because since 3 summers ago a bum knee prevents me from walking 30 minutes every morning like I used to. I split my workouts, legs one day, back another with deadlifts and upper back and chest another day with pushups/chin ups and another day one-arm rows with a kettlebell and overhead press with a sandbag. I vary it so I don’t get bored with a routine.
as a 40 yo man i can tell you that as long as you excercise every day and not overdo it pretty much any excercises will do, from yoga to pushups, you name it
In the new year I decided to do all of my KB's, as doubles; and as Olympic Lift Trainers:
1. Clean-Press
2. Clean-Squat
3. Overhead Press
4. Snatch-Cleans
The goal is to add Thrusters, SOTS, and windmills in the near future.
At 52, after decades being a powerlifter and ex-football OL, the KB's have been an absolute God send. Strength and stamina have never been better. Old injuries are magically and systematically being healed or at least improved. I don't ever see myself going back to bar work.
Loved your comments. I’m a former college player myself. How tall and heavy are you and what weights do you use for your kettle bells?
Looks like youtube knows my age😂
Thank you brother for sharing your knowledge, looking forward to trying this workout!
I have used kettlebells for years. My top 5 lifts are double racked squats, double press, 2 hand swings, snatches, and farmers walks. Gotta love the kettlebell!
Thanks for all your videos. Just turned 60, gym/sports my whole life and just decided to start with kettlebells for a new different full body workout. Thanks again, really appreciate all the good content!
Great video as always. I am over 60 and I use kettlebells regularly, and these exercises are just fundamental. I tend to prefer the clean and jerk, sometimes adding squat or even double clean+reverse lunges+ squat & press.
I change structures of workouts often and I try to add pull ups. Snatches hard style very taxing on your heart and lungs.
Thanks for new ideas on structures, so we do not get bored.
Just over 65,train a bit like you do.Go well.
This video underlines what I love most about kettlebell training - simple, space-efficient, no faffing around changing weight plates, and functional compound moves that feel more realistic simulation of real-world movements. Appreciate your straightforward communication style and workout plan, too. Have been mostly doing static strength moves with my KBs for the past year or two, plus goblet squats and two-handed swings - nervous about potential for shoulder injuries (I had a nasty impingement a few years back) if I try to transition too quickly to these fully dynamic movements, so any guidance on the most effective pathway also greatly appreciated. Thanks for all you do!
Appreciate the feedback, brother! Glad it's helpful!
Thank you Greg, still tweaking my Turkish get up. I love your way starting from standing position.

You're welcome brother!
Delivering the goods as always 👍
Great video!!!
Great video! 45 in June and feeling like I am 25. I am switching to half snatches for a week or two. Since changing to 22kg, my hands have become “hamburger meat” as you like to say. Just need to heal up a touch before getting back at it and working on form.
thank you
You're welcome
Thanks for this, im a fit 40 year british soldeir that exercises monday - Saturday my heart, mind and competitiveness are of a 20 year old but my joints are not...😅 i need to lead from the front with those new recruit wipper snappers.
Usually i dont watch youtube fitness instructors as they can talk alot of Bull and waffle. However, this vid shown me 1. Why i should do the ex and 2. The simple way of doing the ex itself . Thanks man.

looks hard but IAM going to have ago thank you love the video
I'm 72+ now I started KB about 3 or 4 years ago, still have difficulties with Turkich get up. Thank you for a great video.
Our pleasure!
thank you as always 🙏 two comments: first, about the squat, i like the version of "behind shoulders" kettlebell, its easier for beginners. second, i was replacing the Turkish get up with lunges, at least in the beginning.
Thanks for sharing Yosef; appreciate the feedback! - Gregory
Solid Mate! I'm a former Special operator and still need to stay in shape. Much appreciated.
Appreciate it brother!
Excellent video ❤
Thank you very much!
Nice video. Good, straight forward explanation. unpretentious. I will give it a try. What I miss, in your tutorial, to mention, where do I feel the exercise. which muscle does it target. Like:" If you do it right you feel it here" Maybe I´m doing it wrong, And I don't want to get into the habit of a wrong execution . Or maybe it's just not necessary or impossible with the kettlebell.
Being over 40 myself I agree with everything you said 🔥🔥💪🏾💪🏾
Awesome, brother!
I started this workout today. I’m a 54 yr old male who fell into very bad shape due to health reasons. We will see how much this helps.
If you were able to get through this workout, and you keep it up for a few weeks you will notice a big difference. Commit to at least three weeks and you’ll be hooked.
Thank you for sharing that good routine, champion! Greetings. 🙋🏾♂️
You're welcome Jorge! - Gregory
And happy holidays! Be safe. 🙂🤝🏽
Ive been doing the double kettlebell front squat lately. Something about it is brutally hard. Feels like I'm working so much with that exercise. I can front squat 70kg on the bar easy, two 32kg kettlebells somehow feels like twice the effort.
Try a complex of front squats and double snatches. It's brutally hard!
I did the double kettlebell front squat for the first time the other day, and was distracted by them digging into my forearms. I'm guessing I wasn't doing them correctly.
I'm 59 have been doing double clean and press. I as also do double kettlebell squat followed by the swing.
I have never been stronger, more capable or looked better.
To me, the most important exercise in KBs is the double KB front squat, then the swing, then double KB clean and press just my opinion of course.
Good suggestions! 🔥
I mainly exercise to keep things together..just not as intense when I was younger...
Hey, thank you for the video. I’m late 40s doing weight lifting (bench press, dumb bells) but I’d like to try a kettlebell workout to lose fat and build lean muscle. What kettlebell weight should I start with?
Over 40 gang checking in - great info!
Love it when the gang shows up! Big up Mark! - Gregory
I hit 40 and things started going downhill in my muscles gaining. Everything hurts nowadays, just started doing kettle bells and been feeling great
Glad to hear that!
Hey 👊🏿 Cool tips as always 👌🏿 Thank you very much 👊🏿 I just noticed that I'm already over 50...😁😉
That workout is not for you then. LOL Thank for sharing Christof! - Gregory

Hi Gregory, loved the video and the exercises. I was wondering how heavy is that bell? Thank You
16 KG
@@lebestark-official thank you
Well damn. Sign me up!
I got back into kettlebells at the start of Lent and upgraded from 16kg to 24kg for training. Since I started using the 24kg, I'm able to hit consistent activity for the time duration, but my body needs more than a quick break between exercises (≈:30). Should I keep it up with the 24kg and have my body get acclimated to the cardio, or go down to 16kg to reduce strain but hit the pace? I've been doing KBs 3x/wk and alternating plyo and P90x yoga in between KB days. My body has been feeling good with the higher weight. I appreciate the programming and attention to form.
Thanks for sharing Stephen! - Gregory
Do yo have some video for beginner from moderate weight and gradually work into heavier weights.

Great video and I always enjoy what you do, especially for people who are interested in kettlebells. But the over 40 things always feels a bit weird to me. And somehow I see it in a lot of places in society that when you are over 35 or 40 you are "old". You see it in art, and and sports, whatever. I just turned 40 last October and still pulling lifetime PR's despite I am not competing in Olympic Weightlifting anymore. Whatever you want to achieve don't let anyone tell you there is a limit... Or that over 35 or 40 is too old to start, to apply for something, or that you need "special" things... Just go for it.
I agree wholeheartedly Cristian.
As a man over 40, you're aware of how of a limited asset time can become. That's exactly why this workout fits well for our gang.
Not saying in the slightest, that younger folks cannot do this workout OR that being over 40 means it's downhill from there. Quite the contrary, my brother.
Thanks for sharing! - Gregory
Should you do kettlebell excersises if you have hypermobility.
Yes. - Gregory
Pls can you do a follow along video?
We have tons of follow alongs on the channel. - Gregory
Most of these exercises, including the one-handed swing, would totally f**k up the rotator cuff shoulder joints of older people. I am 65 and I use kettlebells for two-handed (normal) swings, goblet squats, overhead press, etc that do not involve a jerking movement (like the snatch and clean& jerk) or sudden on/off changes in muscle loads.
Started trying these today. How do you keep from developing huge bruises and swelling on the back of your wrist area from the kettlebell impacting it repeatedly?
Use kettlebell guards. Till you get used to it
The link in your video for the fee workout doesn’t work please fix this link.
Nice, so what weight kettle bell should I get? For reference: I’m 44 , 80kg, reasonable fitness, use the following weights/excercises:
-bench press 50kg
-seated shoulder press 12.5kg dumbbells
Goblet squat 20kg
5sets of around 10 reps of each
Go for 12KG & 16KG
This is the cleanest "turkish get up" ever!
Hi Gregory,
I am reaching out to seek your guidance in achieving my goal. Although I'm not quite 40 yet (I'm 37), I feel it's close enough. I aspire to use 2x32kg kettlebells as my working weight for Clean&Jerks. For the past two years, I've been intensively training with kettlebells and have finally reached a point where I can clean and press (C&P) a 32kg kettlebell 7-8 times.
Throughout my training, I've admittedly neglected Jerks, and I need to improve in this area. I haven't yet performed a Repetition Maximum (RM) for C&J with the 32kg, but I believe I will also be able to jerk it around 5 times. Two weeks ago, I finally started double kettlebell training using 2x24kg kettlebells. The double presses are relatively easy, but I feel the double jerks are more challenging. I think it's primarily because I haven't really learned to generate a lot of power with my legs yet.
So, my question is: What is the quickest way to achieve my goal of being able to jerk 2x32kg? Should I continue training with 2x24kg to improve my technique, or should I jerk 1x32kg more often to get better accustomed to the higher weight and eventually be able to C&J 2x32kg?
Thank you in advance for your advice.
KOW
Thanks for sharing brother! The quickest way to get better at the Jerk is to improve your technique with lighter weights.
Keep pressing with your working weight so you don’t use your upper body strength. Just dedicate a couple of minutes of your training to skill practice. - Gregory
Is there an alternative exercise to the Turkish Get Up that you'd recommend? Thanks in advance!
It‘s a unique exercise with unique benefits. Hard to share an alternative. Maybe a windmill or bent press.
I’m with you. I hate that exercise and I don’t think it’s necessary.
Al this is perfect, just i would add few push ups and gorila rows and thats it
Im enjoying kettlebell training more than I thought. Seeing how i used to lift and play a lot of athletic sports i can say that im stronger now than ive ever been.
Obviously not as fast or as durable but definitely as strong.
The box arrived partially opened and smashed, but the kettlebell looks like new with no imperfections.
For men over 40 years old, 2 exercises with a kettlebell are enough. Two-handed kettlebell swings and kettlebell thrusters.
Great exercises as well!
I’m 55 and I do at least 6 exercises with the bells to keep it interesting.
How often would you suggest this routine per week? I’m way over 40 but love these exercises.
Once or twice
@@lebestark-official Thank You!
Asalammualaikum brother, let's go!! I'm 59 this year. The only wt I have is 20lbs gift from wife. That's my baby. Lol. I have to get 50' or 60' right ?? So this will work for me
How many times has the unlucky camera caught a swing or clean?
4:08 first time I've ever seen anyone playing a kettlebell like a set of pan pipes 😂
LOL. That's what happens with our Super Flow kettlebells. - Gregory
Lol I thought the same. I hope we get a kettlebell jam video at some point.
Tule of thumb, generally what weight size do you start out with? I curl 30-45lbs bench 225...?
Males 12KG - Females 8KG. Exceptions to the rule always apply.

I'm 50 and have moderate strength. What size KB should I start with?
12 KG
What suze weight do you use though
24KG-28KG in most cases
Thanks for reply, great channell
I apologize I’m a newbie to kettlebells, when doing a clean how do you not smash your forearm with the bell?
We have a lot of skill lessons on the Clean; just search the channel. - Gregory
@@lebestark-official thanks so much !
It is a skill and it can take a while to master, You have to tame the swing arc and switch your grip inserting the hand through. If and when done right the bells glide and fold nicely on to your arm as they rest across your chest. You also have to do the same on the snatch almost puching through the bell at the top I find.

@@lebestark-official never mind, it came through to my junk mail just then. Thank you 😊 🙏
Nice job, but you did not mention anything about weight??
That's an individual question but a good recommendation for Men is to start with 12 KG.
I’m 58 and out of shape male what weight of kettlebell should I start with
12 KG
Good kettle control thought you would be denser moving that weight
The kettlebells are just out-angling me. lol - Gregory
i'm only 37, i'll come back in 3 years.
Can i do 10 minutes clean, squat and press, to replace the ONLY 10 minutes clean and press for the MORE bang for your bucks?
Try it and see how your body reacts!
nice Video, solid advice, solid workout, but the "oVeR 40" is obviously clickbait :D
It is not. It's quick and effective. Folks in our age group need stuff that doesn't take up hours of our time. - Gregory
With both shoulders needing replacement due to osteoarthritis, 3 of those exercises ain't happening for me.
Stick to the basics!
Amen brother! - Gregory
When I do the clean my forearm hurts too much what does that mean
Either, your technique is off or your forearms need to get accustomed to the kettlebell. - Gregory

Not sure this is superior to rowing and xc skiing.
These are different tools. - Gregory
The message I took from the video is that the workout is quick, efficient and highly suited to people that have limited time...like the over 40s.
You might suffer a lot being on CZcams if you don't like clickbait 🤷♂️
Good point Andrew! However, the workout is quick and effective: Exactly what folks over 40 need. - Gregory
I've seen click bait and this isn't.
Sorry, but that´s more a military press than a normal press where you use your whole body to make it go up and flex with it when it comes down. Also, I was taught to bend my legs more with a swing, I think your legs don´t bend, all coming from the hips. Further, a very nice video, thanks for the effort!
Using your legs to drive the kettlebell overhead is a Push Press or Jerk to be technically correct.
There's no such a thing like exercises for men over or under 40!!!!
Of course there are. 🔥

In a few years I will watch this video i'm good for now lol.
Doesn’t swinging like that have potential to hurt your back.?
Nope
Did he just say jumping into....🤔
complete novice here- talk to me about the breathing?
I'm starting to feel like "workouts for people over 40" shouldn't be a thing; I train as hard as/harder than my athletes who are half my age. It should be changed to 'Beginner workouts', that would make more sense in my opinion.
There is a reason for workouts to be geared towards over 40s - and it has nothing to do with intensity but with time management.
Workouts need to be as effective, short and most bang for your buck. It all boils down to having less time available while the demands and responsibilities of life keep growing.
That‘s exactly what the kettlebell - and these exercises in particular - do. 🧨
@@lebestark-official Sure, I can understand that, but as an over-40 something it just irks me to see videos titled like this, especially when they really have nothing to do with being over 40. In fact, a lot of people who are younger than 40 (with families, careers, travelers, etc.) also have limited time and would benefit from the types of workouts you prescribe.
Please note, I understand that this is a me problem and I'm just having a moment - thank you for taking the time to engage with my hissy-fit. You can obviously title your videos whatever you'd like; as a middle-aged "athlete" though, these kinds of titles (and I've seen them often from multiple fit pros) can feel assumptive, as if we're a monolith.
Also, I appreciate your content. Keep doing what you do!
Amen. I’m 55 and I work out with 20 and 30 somethings using the same weight.
Good info but are you blowing into the mic like that for dramatic youtube effect? You're not even coming out of load on some of them. It's distracting and unnecessary.
We put emphasis on breathing.
What about men over their 50s?
Same principles apply
Its like she is got a Holy pair of ATM and church stock ..for quiet praying, were i was dinking tea
Danger watch balls on kettle bell swings
LOL
That's definitely not a proper KB swing, its a full body movement, there is a squat included
The Swing is usually referred to as a Hinge.
Should have separate program for men over 75. Over 40 is too broad for older gents. The ballistic forces generated with some of your suggested exercises could injure older men. Swinging the kettle up over head then roller coastering it between the legs is cringe worthy for the shoulders & back
Turks are the truth!
just make sure your insurance covers shoulders surgeries
Your shoulder deteriorates if you don‘t move it, my friend. 🔥

3 out of 5 of these excercises put too much strain on the wrists for a man over 40.
Not at all, friend.
Not if you have good form and technique
Not at all. Your wrist is supposed to remain neutral in all these movements.
Not a fan of the loud breathing. I get it, but seems excessive
